I don't understand how this policy prevents the returns of fakes: the SA that handles the bag isn't asked to authenticate it over the phone, they still take the bag back, it's just the return is processed through the Arden Fair store.

I guess someone could still return a fake, however, I believe the extra layer of "documentation" on the return transaction not only makes it more challenging, it also makes it more likely that the person will be caught.

When I returned a Chanel to a Nordstrom that didn't carry Chanel the SA had to call the store where I purchased to issue the return. The other store looked up the original transaction, verified the style number and asked for a description of the bag, etc. before they would credit my account. The process took quite a while and the "returning" store ended up with all of my contact and account information on record to match up with the bag when it arrived.

There will always be crooks who find a way to beat the system, but even if it's a bit of a hassle, I feel like Nordstrom is trying to put controls in place to monitor high end designer bag returns better than some of the other stores.

P.S. Next time I'm at the Sac store I will ask about them keeping personal info on file. I'm not comfortable with that at all.

so when I was buying something from nordstrom balenciaga yest I found out that they write down your entire credit card #, exp date and what you purchased on a note card and put it into this roledex type of thing to keep track of your purchases/returns. I am ok with the keep tracking thing, but to physically keep your entire CC # + exp. date makes me nervous. I asked the women why she was doing that and said " we sell so much balenciaga we have to keep track" which is BS..because they have had the same bags on there shelves since last year.

what do you think about this?
Yes I noticed that today when I bought my day tomato. They took all my info! but I paid with cash so no cc info was taken. I was too excited that I didn't even ask why they had to do that, and I also noticed that they put my info in the computer. Why the double work????:confused1::confused1:

Trust me honey, I go to nordstroms 3-4x a week to check out the b-bags and everytime I am there, If I see someone buying a b-bag, they go to the back room and bring back the black roledex thing and either pull out the customers card OR enter it onto a new card, CC + exp date.
I notice the above poster is "sofa king banned" now ... so does that mean what she says above is probably a bunch of malarkey? It doesn't seem like Nordstrom should be doing this....

I didn't want this to get buried in the other thread so I started a new one--I hope that's okay, mods.

I went to Nordstrom Arden Fair today and verified that they do NOT keep credit card information on file. When you purchase a B-bag they note your contact information and also write down the barcode number from the original sales tag along with the number from the sales sticker (the one that's required for return). This is the only information they record and they do this to match up the transaction in the event the bag is returned.

I hope this clears up any confusion. Nordstrom is a great place to shop and all the SAs in the handbag department work really hard to provide outstanding service.

By the way, you can request that your SA keep your credit card info on file if you choose. If you do this, your information is stored in a password protected area on the computer and your SA is the only one who has access to the info. This is a service they provide only for those who specifically request it.

Hey Valerie,

Thanks for the info

I am going to merge this into the other thread just to keep the topics linked: in case someone reads the other thread this should clear up any confusion

The SA's are trained at Sac Nordies about authentic bbags, Balenciaga sends their own people to the store..the SA's at other stores don't have the training because they don't sell the bags so that is how they are trying to prevent the return of fakes. I personally know every single SA at Sac Nordies and they are some pretty knowledgable gals:):) You should feel good knowing they are going to these measures to make sure people like us are getting authentic ones!! And NO they don't take your CC info down..

What I was saying, is that when you walk in to Nordstrom Stanford Mall and return a bbag, the SA that takes possession of the bag is not asked to authenticate the bag being returned.

So the Nordies Stanford SA that takes the bag and calls the Nordies Sac SA who processes the credit card refund: but that in no way ensures that a fake will not be accepted as a return.

So, Sagranch - what's the bottom line - are other Nordstroms stores not supposed to be taking these returns? If not, then why are the Nordstrom/Sac SAs allowing it by doing the transaction over the phone?

The original policy was the bags could only be returned via DHL pick up and delivery back to Nordstrom Arden Fair. Some customers wanted to be able to return at their local store so they changed the policy to allow other stores to accept the bags, but the return must be processed through the Arden Fair store. This is a company wide policy, but sometimes an SA at another store makes a mistake and accepts a return without going through the proper channels.
