MYH - I agree with you.

I understand price increases but as I mentioned before, the price increase at H far exceeds the pace of inflation. And while I personally won't notice paying an extra $30 or $50 on an item, what galls me is what the increase represents on a percentage basis. My other concern is that in Canada, the price of silks did not go up in 2014 so the Canadian pricing is due for a correction. And if one thinks about where the CAD is relative to the USD, I would not be surprised to hear that the price of a silk 90cm will be close to $500 or maybe even more in Canada. I think this gives me more incentive to slow down my shopping at H (I average out to be a monthly shopper) and enjoy what I currently have. I also reflect on the article posted yesterday from AdWeek - which I thought was great - that talked about how an H scarf is sold every 25 seconds ... maybe that might change to an H scarf being sold every minute now that the worldwide price of H silks is going up LOL.

The price of 90cm silks has been $420 for several years now. I'm expecting a price increase but look at the CAD/Euro exchange as they are imported from France.

I'm totally with you. I think I used to buy 2-3 scarves + another item per month. I think I'll be down to 2 items per season now or something along those lines. Very sad...

Just got word from my SA here on the west coast: bags and SLGs going up Jan.28th, jewelry and watches Feb.24th. No exact percentage released as of yet.

They're definitely increasing prices to maximize profit, and to be honest, although a lot of us are hesitating to make any more purchases, there will still be a large enough demand from people who don't mind spending the extra 10%. Hermes may lose their original clients due to escalating prices unjustified by flailing quality, but they've got enough "new blood" to feed on.

Would jewelry involve clic clacs you think? And I was hoping to get watch this year...

Oh wow! That's amazing! Has this always been the case....should make a trip to Edmonton or Calgary in the summer, never been even though I lived in Canada for 2/3 of my life..
We'd welcome your visit with open arms! Calgary, prior to inception of GST in the 90s, had no tax at all. If you're looking specifically for Hermes during your visit, we do have a boutique store in Holt Renfrew, I don't think Edmonton does but unsure. Calgary in the summer is lovely but I'm biased...

Aww, thanks plastic-fish! I'll have to make a trip to Calgary, I really should visit more of Canada. Have to say, the 1988 Winter Olympics was my favourite of all time - Battle of the Brian's and Liz Manley (can you tell I was an ice skater in my pee wee years?).

My fingers are crossed that's the date for jewelry. More time to plot. I'll ask my SA later on in the week to confirm and will report back.

I was told February for jewelry as well. I don't recall the date, but February 24th sounds right.
I was more focused on housewares, since I have some things on order. Houseware doesn't increase until March or April, I think Equestrian is the last dept to increase, and that is April.
