The 90 silk price in Canada didn't go up in 2014 while the US price did. At the beginning of 2014, the difference was about $60-70 before tax (but we do have higher sales tax--13% in Toronto for example). Now that the US$ is high, the difference is around $90-ish depending of FX rate. I'm assuming we may see a significant jump in Canadian 90 silk price to be on par with the US (yikes!). On the flip side, the CSGMs in the US used to be about $60-70 less than Canada but with today's FX rate, it's now $25 more expensive. It'll be interesting to see how this will turn out next month.

I also noticed that the Ulysse price is much better in Canada. If only I can find the right color before the price increase.

This increase is for Australia. Our dollar value has dropped significantly since this time last year... this would account for the high increase. Hopefully USA, Europe etc won't be affected to the same degree.
One example in the Sydney thread: Evelyne GM prior to new year $4,080.00, after increase $4,770.00. 17% increase.

Terrible news for TPFers in Australia.
H should stop the annual increase madness. Like many have said before, this price jump not in accordance of inflation is turning me off too. Although I am only a new collector, I am thinking of taking a H break.

Canadian website accepts foreign credit cards. I live in the States but my MIL lives in Canada. I have been making purchases on the Canadian site and sending them to my MIL. With the strong US dollar and free shipping offer, I ended up paying only 95% of current US retail price with no sales tax! Too bad they don't have many CSGMs, I would have bought more. They also allow you to pick up from the Canadian store, so if you are traveling to Canada, you could order online and pick up from store. Just a thought.

I do the same on the US site for items that I can't find here and have them shipped to our place in NY.

I just posted on the SS 2015 thread that there are some SS CSGMs that just came up today.

A $ 50 increase for a 90 cm Carré is very steep. Currently, the 90 cm dd cost $ 20 more than the twills. Will that put them at $500? I don't remember prices increasing at this rate in the past. It makes me a bit sad and I need to reflect about this.

I asked my store about the increase. The SA said other brands increase annually so no reason not to. To me, it sounds like a lot of greed and ignoring reality like the slowdown in many countries. Over the holidays, I saw that their silk inventory has built up and there was nothing short. If the demand was that high, we wouldn't be seeing this drawers full of them. I hope that they haven't miscalculated demand. There is always a tipping point and I hope that they haven't hit it yet.

I just texted my SA. I asked her if I should order my boots from her or buy them online to beat the price increase. She has to get them from another store. She told me to order online because she isn't sure when they will come in and she wants to be on the safe side. That leads me to believe that there will be a price increase for shoes shortly but not 100 percent sure.

Thanks so much! Too bad the shoes are not in my size online so I'll have to wait till it gets transferred to the store! Cross my fingers it's before the price increase!

Does the store in Canada not collecting any sales tax? How does that work in Canada? Thanks in advance.

Try 13% on a birkin LOL ... on everything, even cars!!!

Yep, Canadian sales tax sucks!! Back in the day, visitors could claim part of the tax back, but the govt scrapped that now :(

I try to avoid buying anything in Canada when i visit now, unless it's something I can't find in the USA or london

OMG, 13% on a B? That's crazy! Our sales tax is half of that and I still don't like it. Don't blame you for buying in London or the USA.

Wowza, MAEML, that's steep! Hmmm, I would re-think buying scarves if that was my case. Just sayin'.

Even with the high taxes, I looked the other day, and it worked out that to buy gloves, it was a little cheaper to buy in Canada than in the US. Must be Bc the USD is getting stronger... I looked for gloves so may not be the same for other things.
