I'm sad to say it now costs $1,715.00 to buy a CSGM in Australia, and $645.00 for a 90cm silk.
CSGM previously $1,610.00 and the last 90cm I purchased was $545.00 in 2013.What were the prices previously?
Wow.Thanks for letting us know.
Yes, my guess is that maybe these prices seem less obscene to people new to the brand. For new buyers, I guess that's just what a scarf costs, period. But for those of us who've been buying for many years, it's a different matter. The percentage increase in prices since I started buying in 2007 seems steep, to say the least, and it does make one think very very hard indeed about what a scarf is really worth. I do love and wear 90s, but I have a hard time imagining what H is going to offer that would compel me to cough up that price + tax in the boutique, unless they're planning to reissue the entire Year of India in the original colorways.![]()
I think this is what H is counting on, but as a fairly new silk buyer the huge increases this year are definitely putting me off. I've planned few silk purchases for this year and will not be sending DH for gifts of silk as he will be ticked off by the new prices.
I guess I perceive it as greedy given the slow down they've had in parts of the world this year and knowing that the cost of materials and wages has not increased at the same pace as they are increasing. If the plan is to slow things down is the US, I think they'll be successful.
I also feel bad for my boutique as I'll consider shopping more vintage/pre loved and going to France for bag purchases. At least I'll get the travel fun and the lower prices.
18% on leather?!?CSGM previously $1,610.00 and the last 90cm I purchased was $545.00 in 2013.
Leather good reportedly increased 18%+ but I cannot confirm.

By most accounts, 2015 is not forecast to be a stellar year, even Bill Gross said that the party is over for investors. It seems to me that the luxury houses, including H, spent much of 2014 with lingering inventory, which is usually an indication of a slowdown. I expected an increase, but I expected it to be modest.
This increase is for Australia. Our dollar value has dropped significantly since this time last year... this would account for the high increase. Hopefully USA, Europe etc won't be affected to the same degree. An 18% price increase on SLGs?
Thank goodness that is one slippery H slope that I have managed to avoid.

One example in the Sydney thread: Evelyne GM prior to new year $4,080.00, after increase $4,770.00. 17% increase.
Do you know when the price of silk will go up ? I'm planning a trip to Canada in February so maybe I should shop the 90 silks when I'm there.
The 90cm are going up to $485, scarf? I wonder about the 140cm!![]()
I hate to be pessimistic but I just don't see anything likely to actually go DOWN. Would love to be wrong!I just texted my SA. I asked her if I should order my boots from her or buy them online to beat the price increase. She has to get them from another store. She told me to order online because she isn't sure when they will come in and she wants to be on the safe side. That leads me to believe that there will be a price increase for shoes shortly but not 100 percent sure.
This really makes me want to go nuts online and ship to my office in Toronto. Is that bad? :devil:That's what 90cm costs in Canada right now... lol.... $420 CAD is about $355 USD at this moment![]()
