Any brand you are falling out of love with? If so, why?

I don't buy anything with the intent of reselling it, so resale is not an issue for me. But I have gone neutral on BE because there's nothing really new, just the same styles with a bit of something added (or not) that doesn't warrant any new purchases. Same for Ignes - great bags, well made but not maintaining any excitement in the line once you have a few. About the only one that continues to entice me is Lockheart.

I agree with you about BE. I find they're styles are not for me at the moment. Most are too boxy for my liking or have too much hardware/drawstrings to fuss with. Right now, I"m going for simple and elegant!

Another one that has completely gone off Belen Echandia!

I too don't buy with the intention to sell on, so resale isn't important and I'm not a huge bag collector. I buy a couple that suit my everyday needs. What originally drew me to this brand was the uniqueness of it, and the fact that I wouldn't see this brand toted all over Europe, compared to more well known/popular brands.

However, after getting my first BE bag which was total joy, soon led to HUGE disappointment. I didn't find the same quality in my other bag, and purses. I found the threaded handles dated and irritable, never staying on my shoulder, the leather to be thinner, and more delicate with hardware easily falling off. IMO, the new bags are a mish-mash of past and present styles, and frankly the customer service is questionable.

I've since branched out and become hugely interested in Mulberry, Hermes and BV (only SLG'S though). Through the PF I've learned so much about these brands, and it has made me re-evaluate what I want to suit MY lifestyle, and dress sense. For me Mulberry and Hermes has the SIMPLICITY and CLASSIC look of what I need in a bag, and more importantly, the QUALITY is outstanding, and if I'm going to drop some money, you better believe it's going to last for YEARS and YEARS!! :D

Oops, sorry for the epic!!

Tash, I agree with you!:smile1:

I must find a handbag that's comfortable and the straps stay put! And that will last like you mentioned years and years. And I want a style that's fresh and very PRETTY. Do I ask for too much?

Wish me luck. My search continues!

I think it's pretty common for most people to fall in and out of love with a brand because no one particular brand is going to hit a home run with every style in every season. So, one designer comes up with one thing, they try something new, maybe it isn't your thing and you decide to try something new. I know I do this. I love several brands but do not carry one exclusively. I love Coach (leather), Cole Haan, Belen Echandia and RM. I don't look to one brand to satisfy everything for me because I just don't think that's possible.

I find myself falling out of love with premiere designer brands (Balenciaga, Chanel, Louis Vuitton). I find that they just don't suit my lifestyle anymore. I also don't think the quality is there for $1K - $3K bags! And when I stop to think about it, that's A LOT of money to spend on a single bag!!!
I used to have a $500 limit on bags. I think I may be reinstating that.

Interesting reading in this thread. I think I have really slowed down on my spending for bags. I am just not seening anything lately in the FW or Cruise lines that calls out to me. As for a specific brand??? I agree with a lot of the posters here that the mid price brands are just not worth it.

I've really slowed down with Louis Vuitton. The quality just seems like its slipping and they don't make me quite as happy as they used to. My biggest complaint is poor hardware - tarnishing and the like.

I dunno if this counts or not but I really wanted a Burberry bag but now I hear that they are being made in China now & so I think that is a put off for me from me buying this brand of bag. I still like the scarves & umbrellas though.

Unless I'm wrong, they've been doing China for years. I'm sure some of their more pricier bags are still made in Europe/Italy. I think their Novacheck (and some Haymarket) bags are made in China though. I prefer their leather $1K+ bags anyway. I'm staying faraway from their signature ones. :amuse:

I'm also done with Coach. DONE DONE. I still buy their slg's though.

Thanks for asking, I've been wanting to know myself :D .

For me, Hayden Harnett has really started to disappoint me. Not so much with their bags, but with their terrible business practices. There are a ton of posts on the HH subforum about delayed shipping, slow refunds (the usual issues), but now it's gotten so bad, they're asking some customers to pay extra *after* items have already shipped (b/c of their own mistakes :wtf:). I'm trying to stay loyal, but they sure are making it hard...

I have stopped buying BE because of their styles and price. I still love my WTM's but nothing else interests me. I am also done with Gucci since I have 4 bags and that is all I need of them. I am back into the RM mb as it fits my life right now. Other than that I am still looking around.

Ladies,

It's a little sad when we outgrow an old favorite designer but it's nice seeing some familiar BE friend's here.;)

I have to say I'm glad to see that Bottega Veneta hasn't been mentioned. I have high hopes for this line. Wish me luck.

I don't mind paying for great quality and a pretty/fresh design that will last for years!

I haven't completely outgrown BE since there are still some styles left that I"m enjoying but it's just not the same for various reasons.

LV & Gucci...i used to lovvvve those brands, but i fell out of love with them because I can't afford them and it just got me into so much trouble with Credit Card bills..so i blame LV & Gucci..i mean they have beautiful bags, but it's just everyone carries them i want something different now-a-days...i know there are many LV *classics* but other than those few pieces, I have fallen out of love with these brands....
