Anti-Coach snobs...ugh

So I was poking around the internet looking at random purse blogs and forums ( I know, I'm such a purse dork) and cannot believe how many women with LV bags, Hermes, etc actually look down on women who carry Coach bags. It's a little upsetting honestly to have a brand you love be reduced down to something carried by "ratchets and wannabes". Really? If you love a brand or even just one bag, what should it matter if its $10, $100, $1000 or whatever? I have a friend who could easily trade her bag collection ( she has at least one of each Premier brand bag) for a house and doesn't act like that. Has anyone else ever encountered that kind of snobbish bigotry?

I agree. I notice it also. I only have one premier bag and it is a coated canvas $800 Burberry tote and the quality truly sucks. I'm just being honest. I had always wanted one and once I got it I was disappointed. The handles cracked the canvas stains easily the trim is cheap the list goes on. Def not what you would expect out of such an expensive bag! So I am content with my coach. I buy my bags for the quality & coach's quality is just as good as many premier designers. I have no desire to spend over $1,000 on a bag. Some people do & can afford to but not me, even if I could I wouldn't. I just don't see the point in treating people less than bc of their preferences & priorities. They may have as much money as someone spent on a lv but would rather use it for a vacation or home remodeling.

I have found that it seems to be LV buyers / collectors that are the worse offenders (in my reading experience).....and I can't understand what they have to be snobs of. They're paying very big bucks for coated canvas...........which is plastic covered fabric. :yucky:

IDK. They must think since they spend more on their bags than we do on Coach that they're better than we are.

Agree 100%

If mocking my mass-produced handbag because it has different initials than her mass-produced handbag makes the average purse snob feel better about herself, I'm glad I could help!

It's one thing for purses to a hobby, it's another for them to be an identity. What people spend their money on is not my business, but to mock those who can't afford what they have is pitiful.

I just purchased my 1st Coach handbag from FOS & I am very excited to get it. It will actually be my least expensive bag in my collection of handbags & I can honestly say I am as excited with this purchase as I have been with some of my luxury one's. I look at quality not brand. I buy what I like, and can care less of what others think! As to Louis Vuitton's "Coated Canvas" they are very durable, classic & timeless! It may not be your cup of tea, but to those of us who love it & want to spend our money on it, they are pretty amazing, I love my LV's, but when I carry them I do not think I'm better than the next! At the end of the day, they are materialistic items & don't define a person, just like money doesn't define a person, their hearts do. If a person is snobbish, or look down upon a person simply by the bag she's carrying... that person is the one to feel sorry for!
:goodpost:

Congratulations on your first Coach! Like LV, they are addictive! :graucho:

It's not even necessarily "can't afford", it's just a choice.

While I would love to own a leather LV and Gucci someday, Coach is by far and away the BEST when it comes to value for the price point! I have had other contemporary designer bags that cannot hold a candle to Coach's quality and their guarantees. I also really just love their designs. I've always been drawn to their bags vs. other designers overall.

Anyone who looks their nose down on someone else over a handbag needs a lesson on life's priorities!

I see your point, I'm assuming the snobbery that was being referred to was like a "mine's bigger than yours" sort of thing. On that note I guess it goes both ways, I hope I'm not labeled a pretentious snob when I carry my more expensive brands. :smile1:

As far as cost to quality, Coach is a very solid brand. In the U.S., we're used to seeing it everywhere, particularly the signature C fabric, but as a global luxury brand it's in the top 10 with LV, Hermes, Gucci etc. That's why people from abroad swarm the outlets here, it's all full price in many other markets.

That being said, I do prefer the full-price product over the outlet product, just because I think the leather and design is more valuable for the money I'm spending. A full-price delete at 70% off is DEFINITELY a hot buy, no matter what brand you prefer.

I buy for the design and the discount, whether it's Hermes, Prada, Lanvin, or Coach. But the more I research "luxury" and how companies are making up to 90 percent gross margins on bags (yes, that's you canvas monogram) in addition to high-end brands outsourcing to China (Prada, Zegna), the more I am starting to love the value of Coach.
