Anti-Coach snobs...ugh

I have found that it seems to be LV buyers / collectors that are the worse offenders (in my reading experience).....and I can't understand what they have to be snobs of. They're paying very big bucks for coated canvas...........which is plastic covered fabric. :yucky:

IDK. They must think since they spend more on their bags than we do on Coach that they're better than we are.

Agree 100%. I can't understand why people think it is great to pay so much for plastic! It has always reminded me of the story The Emperor's New Clothes!

Not only I like Coach but I also like bags that are not any kind of brand. I always get compliments on things I wear and how I accessorize, I have a decent taste. But most my things are not expensive brands at all! I don't care what they think, my stuff looks cool and classy.

I had some nice Liz Claiborne or Nine West bags that lasted me for years an they looked nice. Now I disagree that items that don't cost much don't last. That is not true. For example Nine West wallets last forever.

Some people always put others down. I mean it is nothing new, let them do whatever.

I like Coach for many reasons, primary because most bags are just awfully cute, plus durable and usually pretty affordable.

I think there's snobbery everywhere. I have several friends who accuse me of being an elitist because I own Coach bags. They would rather spend in the $20-$60 range, carry a bag for a month then replace it. Sorry, I just don't do disposable accessories. I'd rather save till I can afford a quality piece than buy throw-aways. I don't have drawers full of costume jewelry, I have a modest collection of fine pieces.

We LOVE craft beer. I'd drink tap water before I'd drink a CoorsBudMiller. When I buy a case of beer, it's not unusual for me to spend $70+. Our mass-produced beer drinking friends love to call us snobs for it. My husband and I have Harley's. We take TONS of crap from the Yamaha/Honda/other import riders that think we're snobs because of the cost of our bikes. We're dual income professionals. We're happily child free. I'm done defending our perceived extravagances. I just smile and try to recognize that it's probably just jealousy on their part.

Back to the purse part, I try not to judge the LV set and I try not to judge the K-mart crowd. Different strokes for different folks, right?

Amen to this. Everyone has their "thing". My hubby has an antique truck he's constantly working on and one of our neighbors asked him why on earth he was fixing such an old piece of junk. After 12 years and several thousand dollars of work to the" old piece of junk", I thought the DH was going to whollop the neighbor for that remark. My motto is "Do what makes you happy and don't take life so seriously. No one gets out alive anyway."

My LV's and Coach bags live happily in the same room (and so do my Chloe's and Balenciaga's... and Frye... and Fossil). Sometimes I use an LV wallet in a Coach bag, or a Coach wallet, wristlet & fob with an LV bag. GASP! Can't we all just get along??

I do have a friend that doesn't like Coach; but I don't let her bother me.
I aspire to Chanel, and plan to have at least one classic flap; but I still plan to buy Coach and Michael Kors, and carry them with pride. if I like the style of a bag, I don't care who makes it.

NVM: My response to quoted post would not add anything productive to the conversation so I am deleting it but I have to add that I can't tell you how relieved I am to learn that LV makes leather bags too.

I agree with you 100% nothing productive would come out of it. I am so glad you are relieved to know, Glad I could help! :)

yes. As someone who owns both premier bags and coach, when i talk to my friends who love premier designer bags or when i go to the premier forums, there is a definite snobbery towards coach.

I buy coach because for the price point, the value is good. (usually. There are exceptions of course) i can buy a lot of styles and colors for the same price of the only one or two premier bags a year i purchase.

I don't sweat what others say about coach because i don't get my self esteem from a brand.

Unfortunately, there is snobbery everywhere and it is sad that people can be so cruel to each other. Really, what's the point of looking down on someone for the bag they carry? For me, Coach is a lovely luxury and it's a at a price point that I'm comfortable with but not so much that I worry when I use my bags. There are those who can afford premier bags and that's great for them but sad if they feel the need to look down others. And while I don't like being looked down on, I try to remember that either they are missing something of real worth in their lives or they were taught from a young age that having the most expensive things was the most important thing. And that's just sad for them.

I love the quality and style of Coach bags and won't let the snobs detract from my enjoyment of them! :D

I have three LV and a boatload of Coach and MK and I still say my Coach and MKs are my faves. I think they are prettier, just as well made and no argument WAAAAAY better bang for the buck.

Agreed on all points! I love my lv's and I love my coaches and mk all the same!! Each bag makes my heart skip a beat once I remove the dust cover after not using it for a while!

I just don't care what kind of bag anyone carries or how much they did or didn't pay for it. I do know that anyone who is a snob of whatever bag they carry would never be the kind of person I would want to spend any time with. Too many important things in life besides the price tag of any material object.
