Awwww...bless your heart. We do so appreciate your concern for our time and efforts...Have a wonderful day filled with sunshine and roses!!

First of all I can't go to the MALL to buy a Vintage bag.....Not that its any of your biz, but,I have been home for 18 years taking care of a child with heart disease , going in for his 7th pacemaker &15th? heart surgery? this summer and for 5 years caring for my husband who had a stroke. spent 3 weeks in a coma.before he began his battle with Cancer..you want to keep it REAL?? My life is as Real as it gets!!...Sorry Hyacinth, but I had to respond Here! and yeah, I should ignore this post...Sheri

Thank you for those pearls of wisdom...Take your opinion somewhere it might be appreciated... And don't let the door smack you in your brain on your way out...And tell us more about the fake pink Celine you bought, or was it two?
...(Sorry, I've been nice all week and I'm even over my quota. And biting my tongue raises he11 with my blood pressure.)

Oh dear, I think you have accidentally posted this in the wrong Forum. ...Yes, you must be in the wrong place.

TO THE COACH FORUM LOVELY LADIES! ...Thank you ALL!

To Janzrocknvip
I honestly don't get to the Mall, so I have no idea what a Celine is...
Here it is: my Final Comment! Now I'm going to sleep ! Night all! Sheri
...But you did listed it on eBay and a buyer bought it but revised their feedback. Then you listed another fake Celine Mini dune bag!
Making two fake bags you tried selling / sold on eBay!...

Even before i read the other responses, it felt to me that this was written by a seller who thinks that people ought to be happy about buying fakes because they are too cheap to "go to the mall and pay full price". ...The only negativity i've seen here is directed towards fake bags and their makers/sellers, and i don't see anything to fault about that. I do see myself being very careful, though, in case i ever come across anything being sold by anyone called Janzrockinvip.

I don't mean to drudge up an old issue, but I just want to add one thing to all of the spot on responses from you ladies. I think that you deserve huge thanks for the volunteer work that you do here. You are helping to fight organized crime and the brutal working conditions that are faced by many, including children, in these sweatshops. So, no, this is not a waste of time -- it is time well-spent on many levels.

Thanks very much! It's encouraging to know that people are realizing what the real cost of fakes is, not just to the US's economy but to countries and people on the other side of the world. :smile1:

Thank you for taking the time to post this. It is nice to be appreciated! I like to think of myself as a crime fighter. :ninja::police:

TO EVERYONE WHO REPORTS FAKES TO EBAY, PLEASE READ:

Thanks to some research by Tetondeb and by Jed Winokur at the Coach Archives, it seems that some of the "Bean Bag" creeds that I've been insisiting are fake for a long time may actually be genuine.

Tetondeb has an example and an explanation from Jed in her current listings. Since I'm not the seller I'll post a link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=261460269733&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT

The important part is "It is stamped "bean bag" and while visiting the Coach Archives in NYC, I asked about this. I was told that around the time of this bag's production, Coach made small bean bag paper weights as executive gifts. The head archivist stated that the stamp was likely left on the press and was used on bags before the error was corrected..."

It sounds logical in a Coach sort of way, and a lot of the details of the stamping and apparent dates of the bags involved seem to make sense. Where Coach's Quality Control was while this was going on would probably make interesting reading, but as we've said many times, "the most consistent thing about Coach is their inconsistency". Looks like we have more proof, as if we needed it.

There are still some proveable fakes with Bean Bag creeds, so please ask at the Authenticate This Coach thread before reporting ANY of them.

My deepest and most sincere apologies for anyone who may have had a genuine bag removed or disposed of. I'll try to get the various Guides updated as soon as possible. I'll also cross-post this at the Hall Of Shame and the Answers threads.

I don't think any of the bags I've seen stamped with 'bean bag' have been of Coach quality. They've looked shoddy. This one you've linked to is stunning.

Wow! Thank you and Deb (and Jed) for enlightening us!

Wow, I got my money back on my bean bag. Luckily I haven't cut it up or disposed of it. The only other thing that doesn't look right is that the ring of the zipper pull is pewter colored. It is the same diameter as the ring on my authentic basic bag but a little thicker. It is unbroken all around so I don't think it could have been replaced. I really don't know whether to believe it is authentic or not. The thing that seemed odd about these bean bag creeds was that they seemed to have unique numbers, unlike most fakes that use the same number over and over.

Just a quick addition to this, if it's ok:
"Second, as a generality, all-leather bags are not faked. They just are not cost efficient for the fakers. And you can usually tell real leather and the fake stuff when it’s on the entire bag (as opposed to trims, etc)."

Many of the older leather bags were faked. Counterfeit leather bags made before Coach switched production to China are often found on Ebay. They almost always will have incorrect or even nonexistant serial numbers, incorrect hardware, thin flimsy straps and misspellings or other mistakes in the creed stamp. The counterfeiters tended to use the same serial numbers over and over and there's a post at Ebay's Shoes Purses and Accessories forum that lists the most common fake numbers.

Some fakes were surprisingly well-made and most of those came from Korea, but ANY bag marked Made In Korea is fake.

Here's where to find the post:
eBay Forums: Fake Coach items, serial number NT-4903 ...

and here's a copy of Daria48's list - remember, always check the serial number! If you're interested in an older bag just post the auction number or link on the Authenticate This thread and I'll be glad to take a look at it.
..............

"Here are the most common ones so far on the older bags, and some of these numbers are appearing on fake Signature bags too:

NT-4903
NT-4908
TN-9085
7H-7456
NT-4115
TN-9096
TN-9951
4C-9911
40-8624
TN-4186
NT-4157
TN-4136

ANY Coach bag with only two letters or one number and one letter to the left of the hyphen can be assumed to be fake.

501-20 + all similar numbers starting with 101-, 202-, 501-, 701-, etc., followed by 2 or 3 numbers after the dash and usually with a patch that says "made in Korea".
Coach never made bags in Korea and never used serial numbers with only 5 or 6 digits like this:
"xxx-xx" or "xxx-xxx" and without the abbreviated "No." in front of the numbers

H4B-0516

H4B-0678

H4B-0517

H4B-0520

H4B-0532

Probably ANY serial number beginning with H4B is fake except for a Scooter Bag H4B-9893

012-3445

A2G-6094

M4N-4154
Anything starting with M4N is suspect.

There is at least a 95 percent chance that bags with this number are fake:
308-9875

There are some ending in -9927 but aren't Willis Bags

And the counterfeiters are using many legitimate-looking serial numbers but on the wrong style bags.

Check EVERY bag that you buy or sell carefully! Double-check the serial number against others listed for sale. And report the fakes to Ebay."
Hyacinth, you are truly amazing! Thanks so much for all you do!

I noticed that too, and have even seen a few with outlet stamps but wasn't sure if the stamps were genuine, or if someone had done a switch with a genuine bag for a refund.

I'm pretty sure now that the first two below are genuine. They have the extra-wide spacing between the words in the first and second lines especially between "A" and "Coach", they all have 3+4 format numbers starting with 0**- and are in the old font, usually with a few overstamping marks, and they all look exactly like the stamp on the 7214 Bean Bag Keyfob. The Coach logo is also a thinner font than bags usually had around 1990. Anything that doesn't have these exact details is probably fake. The word Leatherware IS on the genuine creeds but has often worn down or almost disappeared.

The first two are probably genuine, the third is a close fake, notice the size of the Coach logo and the word Leatherware compared to the others, plus the spacing in the first line. The fourth is the original Bean Bag Keyfob.

wow, mine looks exactly like the authentic ones, same spacing and same cartouche. My number starts with 026, which is in between your two examples if they were done in numerical order by any chance.

Now I'm just wondering about the pewter ring, but I think I have seen pewter parts on authentic bags. I remember seeing them on the inside zipper pulls. I can't remember if I've seen them on the rings of exterior zippers.

The leather wrapping around the wristlet strap of this basic bag appears to be over a piece of metal. You can see some of the metal where the covering has worn away. I don't know if it should have worn away on an authentic bag, but my known authentic basic bag feels like metal in the same place.

I remember leaving behind at least one bag with a bean bag creed in a thrift store.
