answers to AUTHENTICITY questions!!!

I've always thought that you all do a wonderful job of authenticating Coach bags, not to mention the large amount of time you so freely give to this forum. Thanks from us all.

I have a question for you all...
I've always wondered if you were ever sued, or threatened with a law suit, when a seller got angry with you for posting that their item was a fake? I know some of those ebay sellers can get vicious when things don't go their way. Thanks
This is why DH doesn't want me to do it.

If there was a lawsuit and their stuff was fake.... wouldn't they be the ones to lose, and get in serious trouble though?

BTW, I truly appreciate all the time you have taken to authenticate my stuff, so thank you so much!

Yes, they would be foolish to push it further, but so many of them insist that the items are authentic that I imagine some actually do believe so.

You are welcome!

People can sue you for anything. Even if you win in court, you lose. Besides the actual costs, there are emotional costs. You can be sued for anything you say on the Internet. It has happened to someone on tpf.

Are you serious??? I am in absolute shock! Some people are so freakin' sue happy it's not even funny. I understand libel and stuff, but that's only if it's true! *sigh* People these days. Makes you wonder if dishonesty is the easiest way to get ahead. :nogood:

M3V-4916 - fake serial number

A few bags have turned up with the above number, which is ALWAYS fake and never would have been used in a genuine Coach. It's been found in several different styles but at least two of the fakes were trying to be Berkeley Drawstrings, which are a version of the Lula's Legacy Drawstring but made of a mix of suede (the reverse side of Coach's glove-tanned leather) and a pebbled leather in the same color. But the style number, creed description, plant and year codes are ALL wrong.

Don't bid on, buy or sell any bag with that serial number. If anyone finds one in a listing, please post it at the Authenticate This Coach thread.

L4K- and ALL OTHER *4K- serial numbers

J4K- serial prefixes are already on the Fake Numbers List but we need to add all other *4K- serials as probable fakes. That K plant code seems to be invalid for 1994.

Also, any serial prefixes from the mid to late 1990s where the "o" in the "No" in front of the serial number is more than half the height of the "N" needs to be carefully authenticated, like the one below.
