This is why I only buy at the boutique, outlet or Macy's. I've tried to buy on Ebay but all I see, honestly, are fakes. Even the shoes...:crybaby:
you don't have to never buy on ebay, there are a lot of good deals to be had, I buy and sell tons and tons of stuff on ebay and have never gotten a fake, but I also know what to look for and I've been a coach fan for a very long time so I've seen lots of bags. you just have to be careful and post anything you're looking at for verification.

Does anyone know what the X stands for?

Thanks in advance.

OK, so now I know what to look for to authenticate a handbag...how do you authenticate other Coach items (like keyfobs, sunglasses, etc.?) :confused1:
95% of all keyfobs on ebay are fake. best things to look for are the boxes and the coach hangtags, on fakes they just look wrong. search fake keychains, hyacinth wrote a whole post about this in the authenticate this forum. good luck!

Another ebay alert for those of you who do not know the Denim Resort Line (posted on ebay also):

Just a heads up that there have been a ton of fake Denim Resort Line (COACH) being listed on ebay. I just reported one that was purchased by someone with over 4500 Feedback.

I have Coach Denim in my email notification list so I get to see most of them.

This bag does not have any type of signature lining. The lining is a tan (beige) color - plain. The dead give away is the plastic on the handles. Note that most of these sellers are not putting a photo of the lining in their listings - make sure you ask fo a photo of the lining.

A few boardies, including myself - under my seller id, have listed authentic ones under our seller ids lately (almost all of mine are gone) and have been distressed by the fake denim line out there.

Buyer beware on this one.

OK, more on keychains and keyfobs...

Coach does not, has not and will not make keychains using someone else's copyrighted characters, like Hello Kitty, Mickey Mouse, etc. Coach does NOT make multicolor dogs, cats, ladybugs, goldfish, strawberries - in fact, with very few exceptions, multicolor metal keychains of any animals or plants are usually fake. Almost all the multicolor clothing, hats and handbag chains are fake too, as are the stiff orange leather elephants and giraffes with the snap pockets.

Coach has made very few animal keychains, and when they have, they have been leather ones like the Beagle and the Jack Russell Terrier that actually LOOKED like the dogs they were copied from, or the patent ladybugs and bumblebees, although those have been faked too. They do NOT make dogs or cats with enamel "jackets", enameled cats with "C"s all over, dancing penguins, pink suns, or plants or animals that don't look the way they do in real life. They also don't make breast cancer ribbons in any color other than pink.

Buy a few genuine keychains from Coach and study the hangtags, or use the Zoom feature on Coach's website (post # 57 shows a close-up of a genuine hangtag). And STAY AWAY FROM THE WHITE BOXES WITH THE BROWN TRIM AND THE STUCK-ON LABEL! Most of them use exactly the same label, although some actually are in Italian, which is especially obvious since Coach makes its keychains in China.

Here are some of the "classic" white and brown boxes, and a few of the newer brown-with-white ones, plus a simpler square white one with a more understated logo - all fake. They also use a watercolor pattern for the boxes on some fake wallets. And some of you who look closely might find another useful clue.
