Hi,

Are there different names for the two different sizes of Pocket Purses? The 9755 model is the smaller one. What is the larger purse's model number and name? And if Pocket Purse isn't accurate for the smaller model would you please tell me the right name?
Thankyou!

AFAIK there's only one Pocket Purse, 9755. If you're trying to find the name of a similar style, see if you can find a style number or a photo of the creed stamp, and post it over at the ID thread. There are several classic bags that look very similar so if you can get measurements and a photo of the strap and how it's attached to the bag, that woulod be a big help.

Thank you Hyacinth,

I've posted my pictures with ID request in the proper forum thread here:

Thank you!

The J3J- prefix has already been mentioned as showing up in fakes with style number -6818, but we're starting to find more fake styles with that prefix using different style numbers. ANY bag with a J3J- prefix needs to be looked at carefully - watch for badly cut and sewn creed patches.

And to add slightly more confusion to the mix, most of the fake bags with J3J are fakes where the style number of the serial number is accurate for the style it's trying to copy.

True - in fact I searched Ebay for more listings and out of 4 starting with that prefix, the authenticity on most of them is a bit wobbly but there was only one that seemed like an obvious fake. When they copy the -6818 Soho Mini Sig Small Flap the crooks usually even get the fabric alignment right. Most of the fakes are a tough call.

Hi Hyacinth!

Thank-you so much for posting this article on spotting fakes. I saw a fantastic vintage Coach Bucket bag in a consignment shop but it wasn't in very good condition so I thought I would check out ebay. I have purchased beauty related items before but never bid on anything. I was scouring the site for that Coach bag and came across so many of them it was a bit overwhelming! But after doing 6 hours of research and coming across this site it made it so much easier to navigate ;-)) I'm still a newbie as I've never owned a Coach bag before and actually wasn't ever really interested but there are SO many vintage coach bags that are gorgeous that it's really made me appreciate the brand.
I read a post that Margo did in regards to Vintage Creeds and Serial #'s and she referenced the Ebelle guide on how to spot a fake coach. I've googled it and found one post but I don't think it's the same one she was talking about as she referenced quite a few pictures and there were none to be seen. Could you please tell me how I would be able to find the article she was talking about? I just registered so I apologize for not being very site savvy. I actually tried to post a reply on Margo"s post but couldn't seem to do that either....lol....hopefully I'll get better in time. Also is it accurate that I can't ask for authentication on certain bags until I'm 5 days and 5 posts into the membership?
Thank-you in advance for any help you can give!!.....Cheers!! DP

I'm not sure who "Margo" is do you mean Mrharley747? That's the one I'm familiar with that has the incorrect dates. If there's ANOTHER Ebay Guide with the same misinformation, I need the URL of the page to check it. Any time you quote someone's Guide or post, you should post the URL where you found it.

If someone copied MrHarley's guide, or he/she copied someone else's, that should show why you should NEVER use those Guides for authentication. Far too many of them are just Copy & Paste ripoffs of ANOTHER poster's guide, and the same mistakes keep getting passed around.

And I have NO idea who Ebelle is supposed to be. There's no such member registered on Ebay except for an inactive one in France.

"Also is it accurate that I can't ask for authentication on certain bags until I'm 5 days and 5 posts into the membership?"
I've never heard that before. You have to wait until you have a certain number of posts before starting a post but as long as the style you're asking about already has a thread dedicated to authenticity, there's no waiting period.

Hi there,

I wanted to get a Coach bag and I found this website.

I would much appreciate if you could confirm this Coach website is authentic (I have attached the link below)

http://www.coachfactorystoreoutlete.org/specials.html

Much much grateful!

EVERYTHING ON THAT WEBSITE IS FAKE. The styles aren't even copies of Coach styles, they're all cheap tacky fakes that don't look anything like genuine Coach bags, wallets, keychains or any other real Coach products. Some of them don't even have the pattern straight - and do you think a REAL Coach can be bought for $60?

If you've bought from them, return the items and DEMAND a full refund. THE ONLY LEGITIMATE WEBSITE USING "COACH" IN THEIR NAME OR URL IS COACH.COM. ALL other sites are selling fakes - Coach does NOT authorize any other non-affiliated site to use its name, logos, photos or graphics. They state that very clearly right on their website.

Please report that site to Coach using the [email protected] addy from the above page.

Coach does have their own factory outlet site but you have to be invited by Coach to purchase and have to have registered for an invitation through Coach.com. It can only be accessed through an email invitation. Don't waste your time looking for online "deals", all you'll get are FAKES.

I've checked my known fakes list and haven't seen this one - is H13-9927 a legit Willis serial number?
Not all fake serial numbers are posted here. The posted numbers here are those that have been seen multiple times and on various styles of bags.

Just because a serial number hasn't been posted on this thread doesn't mean it's authentic. Counterfeiters can and do use legitimate serial numbers on fakes.

Regarding the Willis bag you've asked about, please post pictures and your question here. Actual pictures of the bag are needed to authenticate it: http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/authenticate-this-coach-694619-169.html#post20002003

Thanks for the prompt reply, and absolutely understood on all that you said, I'm sorry if I was unclear.

I actually wasn't looking for an authentication on a specific bag, I have seen the number I mentioned more than a few times on a number of secondhand Willis bags. I was mainly trying to understand the number format and didn't want to clutter the 'authenticate this bag' thread up with an incorrect post asking for general information.

On style number era Willis bags I personally had only seen "letter - number- letter" in the first 3 positions, never "letter - number - number" ---(H13) it looked odd to me - but is also not a number that I've seen as a known fake.

Many many thanks for your replY! You save me from unecessary pain and regrets!!

In bags from 1994 or later, the third digit, the plant code, was usually a letter of the alphabet but even as early as the late 1990s Coach was also using a number there instead of a letter. The Chinese plants from the early 2000s used 0, 3, 6, and 9, and the Turkish plant was using "2" and also the letter "i" which could be mistaken for a 1 as early as 1997 or thereabouts.
