i wear moissanite studs while my beautiful (real) 2 cttw ones sit in safe deposit

nobody knows the difference, and i am always complimented on them. they sparkle a little bit more, but i don't clean them very often...so they look genuine.

i know this is a discussion on diamonds, i am terrible about losing earrings...so i just can't wear real ones

So far (cross fingers) have worn my real earrings every day for 2 years since I got themand haven't had a problem. I sleep and shower in them (but take them out for pool, beach or going to dr--in case I have to go to hospital. My grandmother got rushed to hospital once and didn't have time to secure valuables and they stole a lot of her stuff).
The backs are those double push backs and they seem very secure. I also got insurance on these babies and decided not to worry but enjoy them. They are the most expensive piece of jewelry I will ever have and I want to get my husband's worth of money out of them. I enjoy having them in and thinking how much he loves me.
I have no problem with wearing faux. And some faux looks very real. There are other threads on good faux. But I love to wear my real and if something happens (Godforbid) at least I enjoyed them A LOT.

Thank you :)

Jill I found this online. You can enter the GIA no. and carat weight and get detailed info. Then you can go to HCA and check were the diamonds fall under.

Great, thank you so much!!

Sorry to take so long to answer re:martinis. They didn't look good on me. I thought they were very pretty and I like the less metal, but my ears kind of take a scoop at the lobe (I can't explain this well) and even at the larger size I was getting, they sank into the depression there and kind of disappeared. The four prong basket is higher up and and can be seen well on me.

I don't think there would be a problem if your ears didn't do this.

THe main point is,I would not have known this w/o trying on in person and I was ready to go with the martinis because I read online that so many people had them and loved them but they still were not right for me.

I was set on trying on in person as well. I was able to try on 4 prong this weekend, but there was no martini available to try on in the same size. I was able to try on a much larger size just for look. It was probably not the best way to judge, but I really did like the 4 prong. I would still love to try the martini in the right size, but seeing as I was happy with the look of the 4 prong, I may just go that way.

Now I can really begin the search for stones, yea!!

i can't sleep in mine, so i have to remove them...i had a horrible scare with one of my diamond studs, and with kids roaming around...i choose to wear the fakes. it's not really an economic decision, it is just more practical for me. i don't have huge (3 carat) diamonds...but i have plenty of inherited ones that are large enough for my lifetime. right now they all sit in the deposit box.

i know this sounds paranoid, but one of my son's friend is always talking about diamonds...he's not my favorite kid. i have a feeling if he saw one sitting there, he might stick it in his pocket! he's a little eddy haskel-type kid that is an absolute terror, but charmingly nice to the parents.

15 years ago i had diamond lust, now at 40...they don't really mean that much to me. i guess it's because i know i have them sitting safely.

i do appreciate diamonds and adore looking at beautiful settings, we even toiled around with getting me a new tiffany solitaire a year or 2 ago.

then i went home and realized college is around the corner for my kids...and 30-40k (might) cover a year of their education.

anyways, this is totally OT...i hope the OP gets the beautiful diamond studs that she wants. it is so exciting to make a diamond purchase!

So....I checked vendor a and vendor b.
Only vendor a has what I am looking for right now.

Please give opinions on what I have found after narrowing down several stones.

.80 ct four-prong earrings 18k white gold

Earring 1-
Round .40 ct, Signature Ideal-cut, G-color, VS2-clarity, Depth 61.4%, Table 57%

Earring 2-
Round .40 ct, Signature Ideal-cut, G-color, SI1-clarity, Depth 61.7%, Table 57%

HCA Score is 1.9

Thoughts? Keep looking? Go for it?

Thanks so much :D

Like'em both! IMO,you can't go wrong with the Signature Ideals. The SI1 - I would ask if the inclusion is visible to the naked eye and where the inclusion is on the diamond. Only if you are concerned about these things. I wouldn't want an SI with a black carbon inclusion. If these stones sing to you, then go for it!!! Great price too!

I will not notice the size and price difference is minimal, but thought maybe go with the .82ct option for color like you mentioned.

Thanks for the input! Much appreciated :D

Any other thoughts from anyone? :?:

(yours is excellent LilyC-just hoping for some additonal confirmations :)

GAH! I had a long reply all typed out and my browser crashed!

Ok ... my first gut was to get the E/F set only because the price difference was so negligible. But the 55% table is where I say to get it. Though the E seems a TINY bit "Deep" and comes close to the end of the "ideal" range for depth. I don't think it will kill the brilliance at all.
