Just terrible. Mental illness is the pits...esp. more severe ones like Schizophrenia. Since it usually starts earlier, she may have had some erratic behavior for awhile. And it's so frustrating when people who need to be in hospital are released and refuse to take meds...many end up homeless and wandering the streets. Another sad thing is how it robs young people...so heartbreaking when the illness comes and steals that lovely being away...
There is something off about the parents to me. I think the only reason why they're reacting is to get control of her money, not out of any real concern for her. Hopefully I'm wrong.
I'm hoping the hold stands. Time is needed to figure out how to help her. Unfortunately when you are talking about adults with mental illness there is often very little you can do until something like this happens. Until the law can get involved and force action the families/friends are often helpless.

As much as it pains me to say it, I have the same feeling about her parents. I was glad when the judge put the breaks on things and said he won't make any decisions for a few weeks, until he's had time to talk to/see Amanda, review everything, etc. What I thought was very strange was when they were driving away from the courthouse, her mother was sitting in the front seat smiling ear to ear, while the father was all stern faced serious. Very odd.
If anything -- If things between her & her parents ARE bad, maybe her parents' actions will force Amanda into seeking medical attention and finally acknowledging that she's ill. She has her own attorney now, and perhaps they'll appoint some kind of temporary guardian while they sort this out, so maybe they can help her understand that she needs to take care of herself if she doesn't want to be under her parents' control.
People may argue that it did wonders for Brittany Spears, but truthfully, she doesn't seem all that happy to me. That light in her eyes went out a very long time ago and has never seemed to come back on.
I would have to agree. Did you ever see that MTV documentary with Britney Spears on her circus tour. She talked about feeling "trapped and lonely...trusting the wrong people" then started crying. I couldnt help, but feel really bad for the girl. I feel like Amanda is quite simply in the same place. (And now hearing Sam Lufti is involved in her life somehow) smh...its like he hunts down vulnerable women in Hollywood then brainwashes them to rob them of their sanity and money. Gremlin!....and the parents...I dont care what anyone says, im 30 and if I were acting like Amanda my parents would physically hunt me down, and pin me down...call a therapist, a psychologist, a holistic healer, my childhood pediatrician and the family priest! They would live with me until they annoyed the crazy out of me. The fact that her parents are just NOW showing up...rediculous

I do not think her parents are after her money. She does not support them. At least from what I have read. And someone needs to step in if it is true she has spent a million on absolutely nothing but drugs and whatnot in the past year.
I see people have praised Britney's parents or make comparisons. I really do not know why as they landed on the gravy train early on. And if I recall no one was able to do anything until she had lost custody of her kids and put them into a dangerous situation during visitation.

Why do people think her parents are after her money? First people were complaining that her parents weren't doing enough and now people are complaining that they are finally taking action? I don't get it. What do you want from them? Amanda is a grown woman and up until now, her parents didn't have the power to do anything. Luckily, the latest incident actually got her into a hospital and a psych evaluation so now is the perfect opportunity for her parents to step in.
If i had a child who was worth millions and had a mental illness and was acting irrationally and irresponsible, i would want a conservatorship too. You don't want your child to blow all their life savings because they're not in their right mind and then once they're 'better', they'll be broke. Isn't the only reason she has so much money right now is because her parents managed it well for her? That seems really responsible of them, not shady. If they wanted it for themselves, i'm sure they would've tried to take as much of it at the time, not save it all away for her future.

I agree. Wasn't she a child actor? If her parents wanted her money I am guessing it would have been easier for them to access it back then as opposed to now after she started a fire in someone's driveway.
Who is this Sam Lufti person? Is he some sort of ghoul who appears when defecation hits the ventilation system?
I hope so much, for Amanda's sake, that this obviously vulnerable young woman receives the help she needs. To me as a layperson, it seems she is suffering a psychotic break. Please let her remain in care until the professionals figure out just what the matter is. This is sad.

I totally agree with all of this.
TMZ is reporting that her parents have asked for NO money in all of this, even though they are legally allowed to be paid for their involvement (if the conservatorship goes through). Apparently her mother went to Amanda's attorney and told her she wants no money, just to help her daughter.
Personally I do not commend Britney's parents, at all! I think they contributed to her downfall by throwing her into Hollywood at a young age (imo, she just wanted out). I also think they saw her struggles leading to branding issues and less money in the future so they jumped in and made sure that money would never stop. That's just my take, but based on rumors and my own opinion from how she looks/behaves now (so sad, dead in the eyes), I do not think Britney's parents are what they seem.
