This is so sad. What I don't understand is that my mom knows a woman who is family friends with Amanda's parents and they told her they've known something is wrong with Amanda since she was a child. You would think her parents would fight for her.

I feel so bad for her. I have a bipolar parent and it is a constant challenge of keeping them on their meds. When they stop taking the meds their behavior drastically changes.

The part that was sad to me is when her mom said there is nothing wrong w/ her but smoking weed. There is clearly an issue and them avoiding it is not helping her obviously.

Her mom is as dumb as a brick. Doesn't she have enough proof that her daughter is mentally-ill? SMDH.

buzzytoes, I'm copying the text of that link here. Some of it is particularly outrageous and disturbing. :-s

When troubled former child star Amanda Bynes stepped out in New York City with a Band-Aid on her face -- and a diamond ring on her left-hand ring finger -- on Oct. 3, speculation erupted: Could she be engaged?

Now Amanda has answered that question herself: Yes, she is.

Amanda, 28, tells In Touch Weekly she's engaged to marry a 19-year-old man named Caleb who lives in Costa Mesa, Calif., and works in a bait shop.

"I am very needy for friendship and I hate men. I want to f--- them, but I can now say I'm engaged -- get away from me," she told an In Touch reporter on Oct. 5, in what can only be described as a bizarre exchange. "I want to be married and I want to be away from people."

Amanda went on to tell the magazine that she wants to settle down with her fiance in New York because she likes walking and riding her bike, "and in California, you need to drive," she said. "I really do not enjoy driving. I don't like the way I look in a car. The lighting is very bad."

Amanda, who was arrested in California on DUI charges on Sept. 28, flew from Los Angeles to New York on Oct. 2 amid reports that she's again in the throes of a mental breakdown. She spent several months in a mental health treatment center and rehab facility in 2013 and was placed under a conservatorship led by her parents after she set fire to a stranger's driveway that July. Upon her release, she kept a low profile as she recovered and enrolled in fashion school in Orange County, Calif. The conservatorship is believed to have ended recently.

Amanda went on to tell In Touch's reporter that she hopes to start a family with her mystery man. "I want boys, for sure. However many I can pop out," she said. "I don't want a gorgeous girl around. Then I [would] feel way jealous. Ew."

Amanda, who is on probation in a previous DUI case, is due in a California courtroom on Oct. 23 to face charges stemming from her most recent arrest -- which her parents found out about from the media. "We know nothing about this," Rick Bynes told X17 after the news broke. "She's 28. She does what she wants," he added.

I hate the fact that the media is reporting on and interviewing her. From her answers she is clearly ill. She wants to settle in New York as she hayes driving because of the lighting in cars?! And how can her parents claim to not know what's going on with her when it's splashed everywhere.

They didn't know until she was arrested. The day after their conservatorship ended she left - told them nothing. I assume they now only know what we know, but they only have themselves to blame IMO.
