Am I nuts?Do you save your bags because you're afraid to carry them everyday?

use them now. I used to do that, and you will find your tastes change, again and again. I have bags I adored, and now can't stand. You may love them, but later, not as much. So use them now. Along the same line, your tastes change back, so if you have any doubt, keep it.

I relate to this with clothing! I'll buy nice clothes and save them for nice occasions.. well turns out I end up wearing it once before it is out of style or I am on to the next thing!

With bags, I am usually cautious the first 6 months of my bag's life. Then after that I just stop caring as much because I have my eye on another treasure!

I have a second hand leather Hermes tote that I bought for school, but I find that I'm terrified of wearing it down and getting the interior dirty. I end up using a ratty old backpack instead, and my lovely Hermes is sitting safely at home for special occasions.

omg,no!!

life Is too short!

high end bags can take a beating like nobodies business and still look brand new.trust me!throw that cheap ratty thing out.

everyone.assumes i baby my bags cuz they are nice.truth is, i don't. that's why i buy expensive well.made.

Until yesterday all of my bags were in circulation - but yesterday I bought an Osprey black fake Ostrich leather bag especially to go with a jacket I've designed but won't have for ages - so I'm saving the bag for when the jacket's made.

If I could ever afford my dream bag I'd use it every day for the rest of my life and ditch the rest - but that's never going to happen...

I'm happy with my collection as it is, as I spend much more on clothes than bags!

I got a Rebecca Minkoff bag 2 days ago. It has just been sitting on a shelf right next to my tv where I look over and admire it every 2 seconds. I have yet to carry it anywhere. It is so pretty it is like art.

I was on a Chanel binge and regretted it. I think it's nuts to buy bags that you're afraid to take out. I'm trying to use them but I would never use them as everyday bags. Lesson learned!

Absolutely. I have some old Chanel lambskin flaps in very light pastel colors that I'm very careful with. I also have this big evening bag from the last collection that Tom Ford did for Gucci that has velvet and a big dragon jewel detail and pearlescent crocodile that I've probably only used once :ninja:

Maybe there is a thread like this somewhere, I'm sorry if this is a duplicate- but lately I find myself NOT carrying my AW Roccos or my Bal Work or Twiggy because I think they are too good for every day. I buy them, I love them, I won't carry them? Am I nuts? I'm just afraid they will get worn out looking and I won't be able to replace them. I have 4 Roccos and 3 Bals! What is wrong with me? I'm carrying a MBMJ bag I just bought to use "every day". It is a nice bag, about 400$, (but a bit too small for my liking), but I feel guilty that I have these fabulous uber-cashy bags in my closet..am I alone in this craziness?

You are not alone!!! I'm just as bad!!:roflmfao:

I just bought my citrus Rocco a few weeks ago and wore it out one day with some new jeans that were REALLY blue. When I got home later that day, I noticed the corners had blue color transfer on it! I was so angry with myself and swore I would only take it out on special occasions from now on.

A few days later I found myself ogling it as I dressed for the day. I decided to wear it that day because you know what, I'm not about to spend hundreds on a bag and NOT wear it! I made sure to wear some lighter jeans and decided not to worry. That evening I took a look at the corners and lo and behold, the color had rubbed off and become much much lighter! Long story short, bags are meant to be worn!! Yes things will happen to them, but these bags are designed to last which is why we are all willing to spend so much on them <3

I think if you worry about wearing a bag, you probably spent more on it than you could afford. I am not saying you should be careless, but you should be equally as comfortable with all of your bags. If you're not comfortable, IMO, you probably spent too much on it.

I can't help but agree. That thought alone keeps me from spending too much on anything. It's not so much about what I can afford, but about what I should afford.

I think you may have hit on a point for me there: at one time I could afford the bags I bought, but now, with changing employment and more uncertainty about my future, I actually may be afraid that I can't or won't replace them. Hmmmmmm sumthin to think about! Maybe that's it!

+1

I totally agree with you.

No point hoarding your bags and being too afraid you'll get a speck here and there. Bags can always be replaced, unless of course it has sentimental value.
