Am I nuts?Do you save your bags because you're afraid to carry them everyday?

i used to carry my minkoff mac ALL the time, and then the strap broke! i had to take it to a cobbler to get it fixed, and now i don't use it much anymore. i just carry around a whatever bag cause i don't need to worry about it. all my nice bags barely see the light of day!

use them now. I used to do that, and you will find your tastes change, again and again. I have bags I adored, and now can't stand. You may love them, but later, not as much. So use them now. Along the same line, your tastes change back, so if you have any doubt, keep it.

Wow, I never thought of that aspect of it! That's so true.

I think it's so funny that everyone who works at a hospital thinks its too dirty to bring their nice bags into! lol, the hospital is supposed to be the one sanitary place you're supposed to go to when you're Ill!! :roflmao:

I'm over "saving" my bags. My mom died young (sept will be her 10 yr anniversary), and I can't imagine not living in the moment and using what I enjoy, be it clothes, bags, whatever suits my fancy.

I did worry briefly about coworkers judging me for my heavily-rotated bag collection, but since it's a lux office, my fears were pretty much unfounded. And no one really sees my bag, since I keep it in a drawer when I'm not on lunch/just arriving.

I'm guilty of buying multiples of bags I like. I have this so far unfounded fear of something happening to one bag and needing the replacement. The problem is I baby my bags, so I'm not sure this is necessary, yet I often do this.

This is oh so true! If my taste changes though I would try to think of ways it will still fit my changing style. Does that make sense? LOL. I have bags I bought in my early thirties that I feel are too colorful for me to wear now that I'm almost forty.

OP, thank you for starting this thread. As you can see, I've already replied to it. Since then, you had me thinking about the expensive bags I have sitting on a shelf safely wrapped in their dust covers. I decided to force myself to use them. While I'm still getting used to the idea, I have brought out my most expensive bag and I have started using it daily and the vachetta has started to patina beautifully! :D

I haven't worked up the courage to bring out my white expensive bags but I figure that it will take time but I'm getting there.

Yay! Whoop! So proud of ya! It's Crazy how difficult it is, I know! But I'm getting there like you, one bag at a time. Funny, though, I personally worry more about my beautiful richly colored black bags. I can't seem to bring myself to carry my black City, or my Absolutely amazing black Rocco. GULP! But I have conquered my AWRocco in luggage, and carry it now regularly, and I just bought a used and light blue Bal First to use "every day". Since it was used and had some fading I haven't worried about it....yet. My mom carried white bags all the time, so there must be a trick to it. Good luck and keep us posted!

No, you're not nuts. I have a gorgeous vintage Chanel flap that I bought last fall and have never carried!!!
It's crazy... I'm afraid it'll get damaged and if I'm being completely honest with myself, it's just too dressy for my casual style. I've come to the difficult realization that I'm going to have to let it go...:shucks:

I have a vintage Chanel black flap and I like to just carry it for special occasions like a nice evening dinner out, or a wedding or a special evening dinner event where I will dress up. I'm not really likely to damage it at these types of occasions. Maybe you could carry your bag then also, so at least you will be getting some use out of it, better than not at all. It's such a beautiful classic bag, it would be a shame to let it go, you might regret it, but I understand if you can't bring yourself to carry it. I have that same issue with some bags also.
