I love taking it out and smelling it and looking at it but am SO scared to use it in case it gets dirty or ruined. 3 years ago my Miu Miu tote got ruined from my jeans, I am terrified of that happening to my other bags. TERRIFIED. I've only JUST recently, like maybe in the last year or so, tried to use more of my more expensive and special bags because like some of you have said, life is too short and I'm wasting more money by having them sit there unused...I have yet managed to use my Pelham on a regular basis
Maybe there is a thread like this somewhere, I'm sorry if this is a duplicate- but lately I find myself NOT carrying my AW Roccos or my Bal Work or Twiggy because I think they are too good for every day. I buy them, I love them, I won't carry them? Am I nuts? I'm just afraid they will get worn out looking and I won't be able to replace them. I have 4 Roccos and 3 Bals! What is wrong with me? I'm carrying a MBMJ bag I just bought to use "every day". It is a nice bag, about 400$, (but a bit too small for my liking), but I feel guilty that I have these fabulous uber-cashy bags in my closet..am I alone in this craziness?![]()
No you're not. I am so annoyed with myself; I have an entire closet of nice bags many of which I am 'afraid' to wear, sigh. I can't bring myself to sell or get rid of some. I hear ya!
vesna said:same here...I am trying to get them sold after a while, but because I love them I take them off market ... I do not know what to do. I have ivory YSL Rive gauche which is so beautiful, I often just take it out, look at it and leave ...it went out 3 times in 4 years !!!! And I can not sell it...there are many others in my closet like that

You buy a bag because it's gorgeous but then you're reluctant to use it a lot in order to protect it's appearance. One upside, a bag that's not being used a lot will last a longer time.
I do have bags that I don't mind getting beat up, but for my next purchase, I'm going to pick a bag that I don't have to be too careful with.
I rotate all of my bags....it helps cut down on the wear and tear. You can choose 6 to wear for 2 months each for the year. Then use one/two for your weekend bags.
It works for me.

I got a Marc by Marc Jacobs nylon bag that I carry to work and an LV wristlet that comes everywhere with my but my actual bags sit in their dust bags for fear they will get worn and then I won't want to carry them for that reason. I want to break this habit especially because my next purchase is to be a Chanel and if i'm going to spend that money that bag will see the light of day!!!

I brought it home and it sat in my closet in it's white felt bag. On March 21st, I had a heart attack and as I lay in the hospital recovering I had a thought...what if I had died and I never got to wear the Marc Jacobs? And what about all the other bags in the closet I worry about as being too expensive to wear? I can tell you, I have worn every expensive bag in my closet since then and have added a Balenciaga and a new LV since then and worn them the day after I brought them home and loved every minute of it.
