Am I nuts?Do you save your bags because you're afraid to carry them everyday?

I baby them while I am using them, so I do the exact opposite. I do not save my bags but rather try to get the cost per use down to where these expensive bags turn out to be good deals!!

I do and don't. There are 2 bags in my collection which I don't bring out as often because they are special and I am afraid of ruining them, however I do rotate them in every other weekend (pointless spending money on something you don't use, and if there came a day when I retire them, I'll buy a glass display cabinet and display them like art). All my other bags are used for weekdays and rotated.

I was COMPLETELY the same way- I would keep them (and shoes, jewelry, clothes) completely safe and sound. It wasn't until MU most expensive shoe purchase (which sat on my shelf for a good amount of months) that my (thrifty) mom face me some I the best words of advice I've ever heard. She asked why I would buy something that expensive of I don't even like it. I asked what on earth she was talking about ( I LOVE those shoes!!!) and she proceeded to pick them up to show the perfectly intact red soles- explaining I never use them, how could I love them? After hearing my wonderful mom explain that I've "loved and used" everything I've ever "loved" in my closet. Yes they get used, and some show wear when you really inspect them, but why have something you don't appreciate? :) even with my louboutins- I could vibram them to keep the soles intact, or paint them over, but I've actually learned to love the unique patches that wear off with "love". Maybe I'm strange- but since actually using my items I've learned to appreciate them so much more!!!

Maybe there is a thread like this somewhere, I'm sorry if this is a duplicate- but lately I find myself NOT carrying my AW Roccos or my Bal Work or Twiggy because I think they are too good for every day. I buy them, I love them, I won't carry them? Am I nuts? I'm just afraid they will get worn out looking and I won't be able to replace them. I have 4 Roccos and 3 Bals! What is wrong with me? I'm carrying a MBMJ bag I just bought to use "every day". It is a nice bag, about 400$, (but a bit too small for my liking), but I feel guilty that I have these fabulous uber-cashy bags in my closet..am I alone in this craziness?

I carry whichever bag suits my needs size wise, so no, I don't keep my most expensive bags for best...:smile1:

I totally agree! Avoid wear and tear and get great use out of all of them. :graucho:

Yes...it also helps me determine if there are bags that I really bought on impulse b/c I won't think about picking those up but maybe feel forced to use them. Those are the ones that I eventually get rid of. So it serves its purpose and has worked out great!:D

There are a couple of bags that are bright colors or suede that I don't take out that often, but otherwise I use all my bags. Sure there are a couple of spots on some of them, but I'm not going to spend my precious time thinking about tiny spots on a bag! I just try to minimize them / display the other side and make the best of it. No one else spends a lot of time staring at my bags looking at imperfections, so why should I care?

In my own personal math, I figure if I'm too afraid to use them for fear of not being able to replace them, then I can't really afford them.

I am kind of like that with new things that I like period. Then sometimes I will wear stuff to death. I'm working on it. LOL I think I just don't want to see things get messed up even though I take good care of my things.

I use all of my good stuff all of the time; bags, boots, shoes, bed linens, quilts, silver etc. I take good care of it but I feel there is no sense in "saving" it. Save for what?

When I held a job in a more corporate environment, I was able to rotate all my good bags on a daily basis. Now that I am in a mostly manufacturing environment, I have no justification for carrying any decent bags to work (or even putting together a decent outfit). Because of this, my bags at for the most part used for church, brunch with friends, and other social outings during the week or weekends. I figure that for the prices I pay for my bags, I might as well get as much use out of them as possible. I have made some impulse purchases over the last couple of years and am now in the process of downsizing, and I am learning to purchase bags that actually fit my lifestyle (not just buy a bag that looks good in theory).

I'm a teacher and I don't have much motivation to take my beautiful bags to work. I have my work horses of course, my Bal twiggy, and a luggage Rocco, but my black City, and my other AW's I just use mostly for travel and days out and things. I'm getting better though.

I do don't bear to use my bags as they are my babies plus they costs quite a bomb. But if i dont use it, in e first place why shld i buy right? Is a very dilemma circumstance. Kekekek.

I tried to be very careful whenever I used it. Is abit tiring though =XXX And i really being overprotective if non-chinese accidentally touches it or wad =xXX

Btw does any bag lovers know where is good to sell off very good conditioned of branded bags (like LV, Chanel, Prada)? I wanted to sell several as I only used twice or thrice the max..

Hey ladies, I can relate to all of you in some way or another. I have beautiful handbag and scarf collection, I love to look at my accesories but I almost never use it. Do not get me wrong i use it sometimes for example on my birthday or if I am going somewhere nice, but never ever will I use my bags for everyday life. I use very cheep bags for everyday.
People who know that I have nice things always ask me why don't I wear them and all I can say is that I am afraid to use them and too scared I will not be able to buy new once if I wear my bags out.

One more very important note: when I go out with my hubby once in 4 months ;))) to a very nice place I wear everything I have got, I mean head to toe in designer but for example when I was meaning my at that time boyfriend's family I even went and bought $5 clutch because I did not want them to see that I have nice things cz I am afraid.

Help me girls with an advice

I have a couple of really nice LV handbags and some nice accessories that were given to me by my grandmother. I would hate to have things that I have to be uber careful with. I buy good quality bags, so that even though I use them everyday, they still look perfect years and years down the road. My husband would have a fit if I had a bunch of expensive bags that I didn't ever use or take out. This is not meant to be derogatory (please don't take it as such) only that I don't see the practicality of buying the really expensive things and not using them.......at least a little more often
