Am I nuts?Do you save your bags because you're afraid to carry them everyday?

Absolutely not, in my mind they need to get carried, worn and abused (lightly) for years so I get my ideal money's worth. My biggest fear is buying a beautiful expensive bag that I put away in the closet for 3 years and never wore it out once due to impracticality or fears of damage. That money could have gone towards good food or travel.

No, I prefer to ruin it than to let it sit in the closet. I have already made some marques on several lv bags, I feel bad of it...but I still will use them.
I love collecting lv, and the purpose of buying them is mainly that i am going to use them.

That's me, at least 40 high end bags most of which have been used once or twice and sometimes never just stored and admired from time to time. I have at least 25 of those purses that have never seen daylight, like My LV's Artsy Infini Empriente, Stressa, Tivoli, Galleria Azur, Speedy Sprouse roses, Alma Vernis amarante, Tulum, Celine Micro, Chloe Marcie, Gucci Pelham and Guccissima Sukey, Chanel GST and on and on. My problem is that it will rain or snow or it will be knicked or scratched. My admiration is on having them and hoarding them and keeping them pristine, they are all stored in dust bags and have a space resting in the closet and they are not squished. I even keep the bags stuffed to keep the shape and for some they lay flat for shap reasons. Any one else or am I crazy.

Oh! This post makes me want to weep! You have such a beautiful collection! Please use them!!!
Have you seen the thread about using one bag per month? I've been doing that and am falling in love with all my bags again. None of mine are as amazing as yours, though.
You've got to pull those out and use them!!!

Maybe there is a thread like this somewhere, I'm sorry if this is a duplicate- but lately I find myself NOT carrying my AW Roccos or my Bal Work or Twiggy because I think they are too good for every day. I buy them, I love them, I won't carry them? Am I nuts? I'm just afraid they will get worn out looking and I won't be able to replace them. I have 4 Roccos and 3 Bals! What is wrong with me? I'm carrying a MBMJ bag I just bought to use "every day". It is a nice bag, about 400$, (but a bit too small for my liking), but I feel guilty that I have these fabulous uber-cashy bags in my closet..am I alone in this craziness?

There are definitely some bags i have that are too good for every day.. But then again, i work in a salon and it gets shoved in the closet.. So even if i carried, would be from car to closet...so i have a real cheapie for every day.. No one sees it.. And if i stop at the supermarket on my home, i really dont care if i am carrying the cheapie or a designer Bag. When i go out, i carry whatever matches my outfit.. I dont "save" them.

At the same time, there are definitly some that will never get carried in bad weather, at a bar where drinks can spill on it (think Lily from Shahs of Sunset carrying a Hermes into a rowdy bar), kids birthday, and other such situations

Thanks, for your encouragement. Yes, I have a beautiful collection of beautiful bags and that is my problem...I will use it and ruin it. For instance, I used my chloe marcie (it is a nubuck) last week just for one day and the dark indigo dye on my jeans rubbed slightly off on the bottom of the bag and I was in tears.. I am crazy but it really bugs me when I thought to myself, had I not used it then it wouldn't of happened, hence my issue. I should buy bags that don't get dirty and dark colours or like the LV damier ebene etc.

I am the same way with nice clothes and shoes..I am a clutz. For instance, I bring out my louboutins and then the heel gets stuck in a grate (scraped the bottom of heel, these boots were patent leather, ruined and that was from one day! of wearing). I am just not meant to wear nice things...or carry nice things...I ruin them. Am I alone?

That's good advice! I just bought my first Chanel bag and I've been too afraid to use it because I didn't want anything to happen to it. I have just been staring at it in my closet. It's now been sitting in my closet for 6 months!! I'm going to get it out right now!! Thanks!

:smile1:

I know this is an old quote from an old thread but this is exactly my situation! I bought a Chanel over 6 months ago and I used it once and it's been sitting safely in it's dust bag since. I was dying to buy it and now, WTH happened? I need to start using it!

True, I could of gone on many many trips. I should change my outlook and start carrying a different bag ever week.

Absolutely not; I can't wait to bust the baby outside! I think the way to prevent having unused bags, is to buy only ones that are actually practical for your lifestyle. And once some of them wear out, you can replace them with others, thereby having a healthy number of bags, and ample enjoyment out of them.

ITA!!!! I do use some bags more than others though...but for the most part I change out my bags every few weeks...It's like shopping in my closet!!!!

Oh sweetie...
I see your point, but your logic is skewed. If you never get in your car, you'll never have a wreck. If you never leave the house nothing bad will ever happen to you.
I could go on and on...
A little denim transfer is not the end of the world. A few small precautions would allow you to use your bags. You can't control every little thing that might possibly happen, but that's ok.
You can't allow life's little snafus to interfere with your ultimate happiness.

Yes you are absolutely right. My motto this year is to break them out..week by week. My fear is that you never know what might happen to you and then you would never get to use those beauties. I will live with the knick or scratch or discolouration...my clumsiness.

This makes me feel a whole lot better. Last year, I was working in a salon & had a LV stolen. It's made me very nervous to carry any of my bags at all unless DH is with me....
