Alma PM with strap?

Definitely love the strap. I only bought my LV Shine Alma PM because it came with a strap. I love being able to wear it on my shoulder or cross body. Only rarely do I hand carry it because I'm too lazy.

Just don't think it works aesthetically with a strap, or even practically. It bangs into your side because of the pyramidal shape. Of all the Almas I've had I only bought a strap once, and used it maybe three times.
Hi :) What I'm talking about is a using strap when you only need it for a few minutes, a moment. Such as taking a tray with the food. Just imagine carrying alma on elbow while carrying a tray with some food and hot drinks...or carrying tray with one hand.Or washing hands at restroom. I've been in situations when I just needed to put the bag on my shoulder, but couldn't, because no strap option. I'm not talking about wearing alma pm and bigger constantly with strap (I don't mind when people do it, - they can do whatever they like).Alma pm doesn't look good on me cross body ( and actually neither does alma bb), but the option would be there if needed. Also, I'm not that obsessed with how I look to bother that much and rather be in situation when I wish I had strap but couldn't do it because of thinking how I'd look. It's silly to me.

I completely understand what you mean. I've been using an Alma PM since about 2003, off and on, so I know how it works well and not so well. It's just that I don't think this is a great shoulder bag in any respect, unlike other LV bags. You asked for opinions, and this is mine. 🙂

Sure, I respect you opinion :) I don't think that alma pm is a shoulder bag either, but have not you been in situation when you needed a strap? Did not it work for you at all?

I've always been happiest hand carrying the Alma PM and wasted money on a strap once, only once. Others like the strap for the reasons you describe.

Simply, when I think I'll need shoulder carrying, I plan on a different bag.

I carry my Almas with a strap 100% of the time. I think my monogram Alma is into its third decade now and I bought a strap for it within 3 months of buying it as it was driving me mad not being able to do anything with it (and this was years before I had my children so it wasn't even because of them). Since then every time I have bought an Alma, I have bought the matching strap. I don't have issues with it banging into my side or looking weird. It works for me.

What you need to decide is why you need a strap and how often it will be used. If you're thinking you'll need it for 5 minutes out of your life once a week then probably not worth it, If you want the option whenever you feel like it then consider it.

As I said, I don't wear them cross-body as I don't think it's the right shape for that. That said, people wear their Speedys cross-body and they're even bulkier than the Alma when full. But people do what works for them and that's what you need to think about. Hope that helps.

Thank you for the reply again. Once I have financial opportunity to buy the strap (or more likely be over it- buying a strap for 350$), I will.
That 5 mins can make my day.I just think I'd use my alma pm more. Also, maybe it'll sound strange but to me it's type of accessory.I love when straps hang on bags.
I actually prefer hand held bags, even that I have speedy b in mono, sometimes I use the strap when it's too heavy to carry hand held, but I can't do the same with my regular speedy and it drives me nuts!So it's always nice to have the option.

You definitely sound like you want a strap. You need a strap. I agree. I bought the Alma and the strap at the same time. I knew I had to have it for the exact reasons you describe. Public restrooms, etc. It is WORTH the $$$. I also use the strap on my black epi pochette to make it into a crossbody bag.

Is the strap that you're using for your pochette same color (black?)or you're using different color?
Once I thought to save some money and tried my alma griotte with vachetta strap from my speedy b. It didn't really look good...Or maybe I'm wrong because there is a vernis brea that have vachetta on it + vachetta strap. I've tried it cross body and as a shoulder bag...I would not say it looks cool ( but maybe because of mismatching strap) , but for convenience I'd love to have it...
