mine is from mick margo
it smells quite strong but only if i hold it to my nose.
the tag is a tiny black rectangular tag with white writing "made in china"
the lining is like silk but it is viscose.
there were 4 bags of silica gel to absorb humidity.
one thick white ALEXANDER WANG label with the ref on one side.
one AW thinner card (white) stating how the bag is crafted and how there may be variations in the grain etc.

as i had mentioned earlier in the thread the lining on one side of the bag was actually missing on mine. so i called nadine. i had the option to send bag for a new one or be reimbursed 100$. i took the money and gave the bag to my seamstress... who did an excellent job.
so just to tell you, even that did not put me off. i work in the business and these things happen. no designer is perfect.
and since this bag was supposed to be a best seller, they must have thought about lower production costs to bring in higher profits.

I'm not surprised that the bag is made in China, his clothes are made in China as well. I bought a silk blouse from his label recently and it clearly says "made in China" (i purchased from Barneys).

demi, thanks for your info, and the tag on the bag i sent back was white fabric paper printed in black ink "made in china" the kind of labels that are on a cheap stuffed animal or little coin purse you find in the dime store! So also that is different than yours, (printed in black you mentioned). the seams of the bag lining were cheaply done....again something you wouldnt expect for a bag over $800. maybe I am being picky. but couldnt stand the smell of the leather.
I too have a lot of items made in china (don't we all) but I am sticking with my gut on this one that it was a fake.

demi, one last q, would you mind posting pictures of your purse interior (made in china label) so I could see it? Or not if it's inconvenient.
Wish there was some other markings on the zipper or serial number something special to compare.

I don't know why these designers are still making there high end bags in China, when they're making so much mark up. If I'm not so in love w/ this design, I swear I wouldn't be buying this bag at all. I know the Made in Italy or US or France ones are also copied, but it wouldn't be as fast as the Made in China ones. The counterfeiters all live next door, who knows they're also working in the same factory where Alexander Wang have their products produced. Shame on the Designers, too.
So ladies, it's better to just buy this bag directly from reputable stores & splurge, at least you're confident that you're buying the real one. Nobody here can authenticate this bag yet since it's new. Otherwise, you may save some money buying from Ebay, but you always have that doubt & worry on your mind whether you got the authentic bag.

i was just at barneys, i'm last on their To Call list!

there's 30 people waiting for the silver studs

and 100 people waiting for the brass studs

she thinks they are getting in 200 of each bag -- and that both will arrive at the same time (end of september)... i hope so, i really want to compare the silver to gold in real life...

i tend to think silver looks more natural with black, but maybe i'm wrong!

and i DO hope they make this bag in brown... that way if i don't get one this time, i'll buy the brown one next season ;)

i bought a silver one fr lane crawford hk.. n im loving it... the photo doesnt do much justice to it but up close n personal u can see the laser cut grain lines on it. very textured. like the new lanvin ones that cost twice the price!
