_)()(*#@$*) Any way to delete the second post of what is basically a double post? I had two tabs up, trying to make it look 'prettier' and ended up posting them both (really need to catch up on sleep).

...

Oh Alex forgot to mention Namibia in his recent itinerary

And I found it slightly puzzling that Alex didn't mention The Vanguard - I've wondered since tiff, it doesn't have to be loads, ...Hidden, CK etc, ..."and also I'm working on this ...." Anyway, what will be.

As to the Tarzan possibility, forget the loincloth, I want Alex to remember he's Swedish and loves to be naked before I can get enthralled
haha....I just thought the same about Namibia:D....and if he listed his trips in the correct order, he was in Northern Sweden before he came back to L.A. - just saying ;)

As to speak of The Vanguard, did Alex himself ever talk about it? I really can't remember. I know, that Variety reported about it and Warner confirmed that they got their hands on it and that he'll produce it within next year because the release date is set for summer 2014. But as far as I remember, I never heard Alex talking about it - but I may be wrong about that :thinkin:

What I think it's strange, is the fact, that whenever Alex is been asked about stepping up and becoming an Director/Producer himself like Stephen Moyer does on TB, Alex always declines and says he did it already ('Att döda ett barn', together with Björne) but would be 'terrified' doing it on TB.
I don't get it. It would be a great chance and a opportunity for him to improve his directing/producing skills before kicking off the 'big thing'. If I would love to direct and would get a chance to do so, I would grab it with both hands – no matter if it would be 'just' an episode of a TV series or a big screen movie. :shrugs:

And Tarzan? Really?
That would be the remake of a remake of a remake......and some stories doesn't tend to get better as more often as they are told.
But I really do prefer to see him linked to Tarzan rather than to the 50 shades of shame crap.

Nope :amuse: and I do believe the penance is to post some pretty. :graucho: or replace it with pretty.

Darn it! And the mentioning of ligonberries reminded me that I needed to stock up on cloudberry jam/preserves, but nooooo: "Please note: A bad season for cloudberries produced a smaller than usual crop. We’re hoping that Cloudberries will again be available in 2013.":cry::sad::nono:

ETA: "as to speak of The Vanguard, did Alex himself ever talk about it? I really can't remember. " Yes, he mentioned it in the Men's Journal interview, though I don't know whether he was bringing it up on his own or responding to a question.

I need to clear my mind:

Directing is a big deal. Not everyone feels confident doing it. And Alex's first directorial effort, whilst very good, is a hell of a lot different to the vastness of directing a production such as True Blood. Stephen Moyer spent a lot of time shadowing the directors and crew before taking it on and even he said it was difficult.

Also, directing is something not every actor wants to do. I can see him doing something smaller, more independent, much like his first effort, if anything.

Hi :smile1: I see what you are all saying, but I thought Alex was enthusiastic last year. I'm not expecting a full pr push - more a casual aside, say, "I'm also continuing with a project I got involved with last year" - he doesn't have to elaborate further, but I still think it's strange that he hasn't even mentioned it. We're obviously never going to agree, but hey, it's only conjecture - what we do best :smile1: and I do understand your opinions. I hope that makes sense as it's extremely late/early here, (and I don't want you to think I'm ignoring you, or discounting your well reasoned views, as it's unlikely I can come on here again til Sunday).

Have a good weekend :hugs:

As always thanks ladies for updates, especially Santress :)

Alex recently gave more than one interview and on this page http://askarsgard.com/?p=33012 in another one, Alex among many other questions answered this one about "The Vangaurd" and he said that he is still working on this project, so maybe in the near (or not so near) future the film based on his idea will be shooting :) ... though I personally am not enthusiastic about this project, similarly when it comes to Tarzan ...

Thank you for the info and link - that is a brilliant way to end the discussion :smile1: .....for now :smile1:

Unfortunately, for me, the link kind of works, but I just get a totally blank page - a bit like me ;) I'm gone :sleepy: Almost - is Vangaurd the Swedish way of spelling Vanguard or does it mean something else entirely? I've tried to find out but my pc auto-corrects, :shrugs:

Hey all!!

Nice pics Santress

Tarzan??? really Hollywood is running out of ideas. that said of he is cast i would most likely watch it, but im not rooting him to get the role.

Thanks for the interview!!

I finished my placement, i shadowed a pharmacist when she visited patients (mainly the elderly) after they have just been discharged from hospital or cases she had over the years. I never want to get old it was really depressing the elderly had Dementia, Parkinson disease, the end stage of COPD, incontinence some of the houses smelled so bad i gaged. I give my hat off to her and the others.

Its Friday!! Have a safe weekend everyone!!

^ Hi SydneyGirl, you are so right, the care professionals definitely don't get the credit they deserve.
You have a great weekend too :D

New interview with the London Evening Standard:

10 minutes with Alexander Skarsgård

Actor, 36

by Hannah Nathanson

09 November 2012
You’ve spent the past two months shacked up with Andrea Riseborough in a bomb shelter for the film Hidden, how was that?

Intense: we were surrounded by soot, dust and ash, and living on a diet of kale salad, a bit of protein and water. I’m pretty thrilled to be in New York now, eating like a horse.

The advert you’ve done with Lara Stone for the new Calvin Klein fragrance is very sensual, did you enjoy filming it?

It was wild and very gripping. We filmed in this weird dungeon with lots of sweat and leather, so it was very sexy and film noir.

Talking of sweat and leather, you’ve been identified as a potential Christian Grey in the film version of Fifty Shades of Grey, are you flattered or offended?

Of course it’s flattering, but I haven’t even read the novels so I don’t know whether I’m interested in doing it or not. I am interested to see what the hype is about.

Which smells remind you of your childhood?

It’s not very sexy, but there was a sausage factory near my house in South Stockholm so I remember the foul smell going to school every morning. It wasn’t the smell of a nice cooked sausage.

Other than TV series such as The Bridge and The Killing, what is Scandinavia’s greatest export?

I’d have to say the pacemaker, it’s done more good for humanity.

Will people ever get tired of vampires?

I don’t know. Ask me when I’m 58 and we’ve wrapped on True Blood.

What was Lady Gaga like when you starred in her music video Paparazzi?

It was her first album and was very odd. She wasn’t the girl that people know today. I mean she was about 17, so I didn’t really know who she was, but in the video I try to push her off a balcony and she comes back to poison me. It sounded like a fun thing to do.

She was 17? What? Lol. Ok. The paparazzi video was kind of gross with the kissing. And it started that weird rumor about how he told her she was fat. This was before I started following Alex. Does anyone know where that came from? Was this during the Beige era when it was assumed he was only attracted to skin and bones

*edit* nevermind. Google is my friend. Ted. Figures. But he still didn't look that into the kissing scenes*

Thanks for the radio interview link. I love how humble and thankful he is.

Ahhh…career…I don't even think about that term…I don't have a plan or a strategy. Every single job, it's a creative decision. It's whatever gets me excited and I don't think about career moves at all. I don't think about “career”…I think about challenges, finding new projects, new character I haven't worked on before. You know, learn and grow as an actor. So that's kinda what drives me, rather than like a strategy.

FFS!!! Is he serious? How stupid does he think we are? Dude, you are selling perfume! Of course you think about career moves. You didn't do this commercial because it was artistically worthwhile. Or maybe I'm just not seeing the art in it. He did that to get his name out there. You did Battleship. I mean, c'mon, Battleship. Why can't he admit that he indeed has a strategy? You've got a publicist. You don't have a publicist if you just wanna be creative.
Ok, rant is over. I just don't get it.

I think that he was telling the truth ... and in my opinion his choices are confirming it.
The fact that he appeared in an advertisement or in a failed movie doesn't deny what he said. Sometimes we are making the choices that seem appropriate for us but, unfortunately, the future shows us that they were not good ... and I guess that Alex know now that perhaps "Battleship" wasn't the smartest move... Recently he chooses interesting and ambitious projects that actually are a challenge for him ... and I think that he goes the right way.

I have to say, it does strike me as odd that he keeps saying he doesn't have a career strategy. Of course he does - he is aware of the industry, what drives it, why he'd be involved in a TV show where he's a hunk vs balancing with roles where he's not relying on his looks (ie seeking indies and comedies) and branching out into product endorsement. Last someone ran his imdb profile, he does have a commercial (endorsement and product) agent. So, those people at his agents office and his publicist aren't sitting around entirely waiting for an inspiration, and neither is he. I think he's trying to make it not look like he's over engineering things and that he cares about the quality of the material (which I do think he does), but anyone who is in Hollywood and getting parts who say they don't have a plan or strategy about their career...I don't buy it. But then I never believe anyone who says they don't read things about themselves either, so go figure.
