I'm not a Bey stan by any means but I don't understand how people can say Beyonce can't sing?? She's not a "studio singer" like JLo, Janet, Madonna or Ciara, etc. Yes, she gives the full package: theatrics, dancing, etc but she can definitely sing. I remember a live performance of Dangerously In Love several years ago (Grammy's I think, but it may have been another awards show) that was very "tame"... she had a few people dancing on stage, I remember a dove or some kind of bird landed on her hand at the end. Jay's video of her singing 1+1 just with a piano backstage during a rehearsal. There are plenty of examples where there isn't a bunch of theatrics and whatnot and you can see she is a true singer. Now whether people think Adele is better or whatever is personal preference. I think they're both great singers... different but still very good in their own right. Different styles and tones appeal to people differently.

as one who has said Adele is a better singer, I wouldn't say Beyonce can't sing. I just don't think she's great or one of the best as far as singing talent. She (or her people) are apparently great at marketing IMO.

I understand that and have no problem with it. Like I said, personal preference some people think yes some no. I'm referring more to people who group her in with studio singers..

IIRC Even Simon Cowell made a comment about her a while back saying he didn't understand how she was such a big star because she couldn't sing. I'm pretty sure it was Simon.. my memory is messing with me today.

not making excuses for Simon but possibly comments like this are a sort of backlash to all the OT worship of her. one example - recently Kelly Ripa stated something to the effect that Beyonce is SO beautiful that when you see her IRL there's like a halo that surrounds her. Apparently she's some sort of angelic presence or otherworldly beauty.

We're talking Kelly Ripa now, she seems, on her show at least, to worship everybody that comes on there. Ridiculously phony.

Beyonce can sing but no, her voice isn't anything remarkable. But I think she is more than capable of scaling back her show/theatrics and just singing with a micophone like Adele (ex: her Las Vegas show). Adele can't do what Beyonce does in concert. That isn't a knock. They are two different types of entertainers. I prefer an Adele show over Beyonce.

Most major women artists are either great performers (J Lo) or great singers (Adele, Mariah). Beyoncé is one of the only women that do both really well, although I'd put her performing skills above her voice.
