This Hermes comes from a person who's grandmother passed away and left it to him in a will. We do not know the history of it, but she was very wealthy and owned other Hermes and a Balenciaga handbag. The 5 gold accessory pieces on the front are not metal. We would like to know if it is authentic, the name and era for this bag if possible. He did take it to a Hermes store in Costa Mesa CA and they said it was real, but they are not allowed to write up COA's.

Thank you,
Michael

Hi

Overall this Constance looks okay but I would request for a close up of the back of the clasp and the Hermes engraving that should be on the edge of it. Also some close up shots of the stitching, corners and hardware on the top where the strap goes through.

Hi

I would say that this piece dates to the mid 1980's. Hermes developed a range, circa 1985/6, called Symbiose where one bag would be a collage to incorporate a number of colours, leathers and exotic hides in this case Ostrich. I am surprised that the Medor (pyramid) studs are not metal though. I've looked in my Hermes catalogues from this time and can't find this exact model, I don't have all the 80's issues, and so can't give you a name.

I would suggest your best bet would be to contact Hermes via their website hermes.com and ask if they could give you some information. It is a rare piece so that may increase their interest.

If you look on the back of the strap buckle there is probably Hermes engraved there. Additionally if you look at the back of the strap at the end or inside the bag, particularly near the seams, you may be able to find a letter in circle embossed into the leather. If you let us know what that is we can date the bag for you. The letter/circle called a Blindstamp is the Hermes 'way' of denoting the year of production and can be very well hidden indeed particularly with vintage bags so don't be surprised if you end up getting your head in the bag with a torch to find it!

I know I need more pictures, but is this something that looks ok so far? I don't have an auction link, this is coming from a personal transaction. Thanks!

For the non-Brit speakers, a torch is a flashlight - not a flame thrower! LOL!

OMG my dream bag !!! Is this too good to be true? Is this authentic? FYI, I have asked for more pics to the seller but what I don't get is the orange dust bag, does this means it's an old bag? or a fake?

Thank-you VMuch

These are out of focus pictures and don't show enough of the pertinent areas. Not loving what I've seen so far, but that may be a function of the crappy photography.

Thanks so much! I am not very familiar with Hermes so I need all the help I can get!

*edit* i don't think i need more pics, if you all think it looks bad, then there's no reason to even consider it.

And by the way, since these are from the exboyfriend site, PLEASE include that kind of information if you have other requests, as this is not actually a private transaction without a link to the bag, as you stated.
