Love seeing the before and after. Agree with @papertiger that your options are splendid. And so special and unique. Thank you so much for sharing these!

ETA: When you talk about your scribbles and stages of fittings and edits, your process reminds me of how the process of Suzanne Belperron was for her clients :D She also crafted her pieces to suit each individual, and it’s my understanding that she followed where the process led her too :)
Thank you very much!

My aim always is to make a garment mine while not compromising its integrity. For fit I totally rely on my instincts and don't mind using techniques that are outside classic tailoring. The fabric tells me where it will go to fit my assymetrical body.
It's only important to me that I use the same methods of sewing that were originally used: no overlock seams or zig zag in 40ies homemade dresses for example. Usually my alterations totally blend in and can only be identified by the synthetic thread I use.
I will look up Suzanne Belperron.

I lost the fight for self control this month! We went to Las Vegas and I had a shopping spree. The red Coach is a tiny purse but I plan to use it as a wallet so I'm counting it as a SLG. It was too adorable to leave behind. The cute zebra was a bargain from the Michael Kors outlet. Besides all of these, I bought 3 tops and ordered a pair of shoes, 2 pairs of sandals and a swimsuit.

Sales were dismal this month and not just because we were gone for part of the month. I sold a couple of home items and some jeans.

I got a lot of exercise shopping. I was worried I would have trouble with my foot but it wasn't too bad. I was happy that we came home when we did. I couldn't have handled another day with marathon walking. I used Uber for the first time.

It's already getting too hot to go on daily walks. I've been continuing exercising 3 times a week with the regimen the PT set up for me. I should be able to start swimming towards to the end of the month. I can hardly wait.

I carried 7 bags in April.

My daughter from New York is visiting in a couple weeks!

Congrats of your lovely Coach and Zebra charm, and also your exercise regime

Oops, I forgot, I just ordered a new pair of DMs although they now belong to the May tally. It felt really weird not having a spare pair should anything happen, and as you may know I had to throw out a pair that broke and were unrepairable (not the stitched sole kind). I had to order them from Free People though.

I am still looking for a nice pair of shoes for an occasion, Chanel had a great pair to wear under my Saint Laurent wide-legs, but it's too late for my cousin's big day next week and possibly the double function I'm going to 5 days later. I may wear some shop-from-my-own-closet Terry de Havilands, Gucci, Sonia Rykiel or Prada.

DH has a new growth and is going to have an operation - my mind is everywhere but I'd rather not 'say' too much about it atm

Sending love, thinking about you, and a massive hug from the cats and myself ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.

I got through the funeral(which was very long) in 2 parts, obviously partly imagining my own Mother’s..

I wore my Alexander McQueen suit and South Sea pearls, despite the heat, and was accompanied by my admirer, who joked that it was an unusual first date.He looked very smart.

The suit now needs dry cleaning, having been worn for most of the day on a fine summer’s day.

I need to see my parents after the most hectic week ever, when I really feel like having a rest-I’ve also been consoling my broken hearted girlfriend, after her boyfriend of 3 years had left her for somebody else…
I think another day out would do her good, perhaps I’ll suggest one.

A very busy start to the month..

Is this the new AMcQ suit? I'm sure you looked fabulous and perfect, it's to honour to the dear departed.

Yes, it's been a warm week in the UK. I'd have preferred to wear a suit to the film screening I went to Weds eve but I knew I would be running around at work beforehand. Every man and woman and other was wearing a suit jacket bar me (in shirtsleeves). I noticed quite a few just dropped their jacket over their shoulders cape-style. I took a sweater with me JIC but I never needed it at all, even late into the evening.

Are you sure? It's boring!
I have a before of the roach dress:

It zipped, but didn't fit and looked very boring on me. The bustline sat too high, the whole bodice was too tight, the hips were too big and the original 50 ies slim skirt had been 60fied to an a- line. It was a very unflattering ankle length.
The fit adjustments themselves were sheer chaos... I ended up taking most seams apart, doing a lot of unprofessional darts and finally side gussets. Fortunately the lining was hand sewn in - that makes adjustments easy.

That's while doing the scribbling. I never plan, I just go where the thread leads me.
And finally the finished product.

I'm ll try to take more pictures when my latest purchase arrives!
You are so talented.

No, unfortunately I missed that one-on the day I was thinking about my Mother, and it sold..non-buyers remorse I’m afraid.

It was my own AMcQ tuxedo jacket, worn with a black gabardine skort and tights because of the heat rather than trousers.(It was a fairly informal funeral despite the length).
I May have a picture later on to post.

I would never dare to go to a family funeral dressed like that, but compared to everyone else I was actually quite dressed up.
