Unfortunately I have the first funeral of the year to use my Marc Jacobs bag for on 2nd May.

Yesterday I saw a friend, the daughter of another friend, who had suffered from Parkinson’s disease.
Sadly she has passed away, and I and another close friend are attending the funeral together.

I told her about my own mother, so it will be a sad occasion , as of course she will be in my thoughts on the day.

I'm sorry for your loss. :console:

I'm posting my April stats early because I'm going to be offline for a bit to get some medical stuff sorted out.

Total bags in: 13, of which 11 were gifted to me.
I received the Anya Hindmarch bag that I bought for mum earlier in the year, so it's included in this month's 'ins'.
She was ecstatic with the bag and wore it immediately. Moved me to tears seeing her so happy with it.

My collection has now doubled with these additions. I'll re-assess when life's a bit calmer to see if I can rehome a few bags to make it more reasonable.

It's been a bad month in terms of health, for both mum and I. My heightened anxiety around this has made me an irrational, emotional mess- yet again. The priority now is to manage this anxiety before I spiral further.

The highlight of the month was an opportunity that sprung from another TPF thread. Members mentioned that some food banks deliver to people who are house-bound. I found this service wasn't available at the one local to me.
As mum had previously worked for the charity that this local food bank falls under, we had contacts within. I took a shot and reached out to suggest that they consider introducing a delivery option and, as it turned out, they were working through the budget the week I had called. Within a couple of days, I received a call back to let me know that everyone unanimously voted to implement this straight away. Hooray! :happydance:

I've been assisting with the planning and logistics, and while it will take several months to actually implement, it's pretty incredible that the idea was immediately set into motion. It was sheer luck that everything clicked into place so easily!
Though my role in this is absolutely minimal, it felt good to be involved in a tiny part of the process. I love how tpf members always inspire me to step up in new ways. :hbeat:

I'm finally able to post pics again, so here's a small reveal: my first Mulberry! One of the 10 in the box of bags my friend gave me. It's the bayswater WOC. She thinks she originally got it around 2014/2015. It's amazing! I wish I'd taken a better picture but I was in a hurry, lol.
I've always wanted a Mulberry and can't quite believe how fortunate I am to have been gifted the perfect one for me.

We are going to miss you whilst you are offline ❤️❤️❤️.

Well done in everything you’ve achieved this month!❤️

The Mulberry bag is beautiful!

Every time the 'perfect' occasion came along to carry it out, I carried another or I'd forget about it completely. I had to take an enormous wall clock at the same time so it went with it. It was good to make the decision.
This was me with orange bags! Finally I just accepted that they are not for me even if I really love looking at them.

I’m a Mulberry lover and I own quite a few. I love the leathers on them! Enjoy your new bag!

Great job on helping the food bank. What you suggested will truly make a difference for many families.

That Mulberry is absolutely lovely! Don’t go into the box thinking you have to get rid of any. You may love all of them and that’s perfectly ok!

I’m sorry you and your mom have struggled with your health. :hugs:

I was on my phone after an event. I posted in the wrong thread :giggle: Good thing I don't have another glass of champagne or I would have been on the wrong train too.

It was a 3 bag day (ok, one was a wallet).

The weather was changeable, I had to bring an umbrella and sunglasses for all eventualities. I need to find a smaller, lighter umbrella.

As it was, the day turned out so beautiful, I had the most lovely unhurried Spring walk through Hyde Park

And Cross-posting my new-to-me coat. It's the most complemented on item I have ever owned, people have no idea it's Chanel and wherever I went strangers told me how pretty it is. I think its people are mostly still wrapped-up in dark colours so when they see some colour it's a pleasant surprise.

This has been a really quiet week. No more embellished bags? We need eye candy. :search:

I need to post my 1920s-1960s beaded bags that are true works of art. From a time when no evening bag was made of leather.

Left. Gucci Swarovski crystal and silk-satin 1973 bag
1973_zpsqbmba5nk.webp

Multicolour but still probably counts as embellished as the workmanship is what's noticeable
1970s vintage bag

Judith Leiber evening bag I'd bought vintage and repaired/extra embellished (someone else having but the bag in the washing machine)

SHOWSTOPPER!

It was made for you! Omg it looks incredible! You make it look incredible!

Thank you, it makes feel so happy.
I can see why! It's so bright and joyful. So glad you found it! :)

@papertiger Maybe you can give me some advice with regards to carrying more than one bag. I'm having to juggle carrying 2 (my own + mum's medical supply bag) and I find it messes up the outfit I'm wearing. The straps pull on my clothes so everything starts to look a bit dishevelled. Do you hand-carry one bag at all times?

Edit:
Life update: DH wants his camera equipment, so I'll sort that out this weekend. I think that also counts as good news.

Definitely sounds like great news! He's feeling a bit more like himself!

I wear the shoulder bag (Evie) under the coat. The wallet (used in the evening as a clutch) in my Bolide until I got to the venue. I could have probably put everything in the Bolide just about, but I have a bad back atm and on pain meds so I wanted to spread the weight. I had to take a darn umbrella jic. Just the thought of a downpour on my Bolide and coat would be too much.

The venue was a private auction house with high-level security so they had a downstairs cloakroom under lock and key. Although I never took my coat off because it's Summer-weight, I left both my big bags downstairs and just took out my cards and lipstick in my large Dogon. It holds as much as a Medor clutch (23) with is basically a jewellery roll. I would totally recommend a Dogon combined wallet as a clutch and just by coincidence it's perfect with coat in Rubis.

Thank you about DH. I hope so.
