2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

LOL, the funny thing is, my one taupe bag -- Pochette Metis in turtledove -- is actually one of my most-used bags. I do like taupe and find it versatile, but it's nice to consider or discover other colors that might serve as neutral options. The more the merrier.

It's a pretty bag, and it sounds like you like it. The small manufacturing defect inside the bag wouldn't bother me if I liked the bag overall. I would vote to keep, but if you're trying to keep the collection streamlined and will regret keeping it, it might be best to return.
I do really like it. I do have the space as I just got rid of two other bags. I don’t normally keep things with defects but the leather on it is beautiful. It was not expensive , so cost is not a factor this time. I think I am just mad at myself for not sticking to my list.

Sometimes I have no self control. Went shopping with a friend with the intention of getting some summer items. We stopped in Cole Haan and they finally had a bag I have been eyeing for months, and had one with out a scratch. I bought it but did I need another black bag? No! I got home and discovered a small stain inside from manufacturing. I laughed because I should have been good and stuck to my list. What do you think? Keep or not? It is buttery soft.

It's very nice! Clever logo too.

I am in the minority that I don't mind a tiny scratch on the outside but I am not happy with a stain on the inside. I leave it to your good sense whether or not to return. What about a different colour if you have an 'excess' of black (I joke - there is no such thing regards black bags) but another colour may justify your spontaneous purchase. Winetasting looks amazing for a cool-toned red and if you need an off-white Angora looks so modern and glamorous (I wish I hadn't looked now LOL).

I thought I am the only one who hates a spot on the inside. A slight mark on the outside I could just moisturize. I am trying not to be so anal . If it was near by I would just go see if they had anymore tucked away in the back . If I can get back there soon maybe I could do that.

I would notify CH's CS and send pics ASAP, then you will have it on record and can choose when to take it in. Or maybe they can negotiate a discount.

I'm back from my work trip! Landed on Sunday actually but rested for the rest of the day and played a lot of catch up at work yesterday.

It isn't a good market for sellers but I don't think it is going to get better. Commissions are going to get bigger, costs get higher, the amount you net is going to be less. Plus so many more companies are entering the resale business. When the company that makes the item you are selling starts selling used items themselves, it is harder for you to compete.

I'd like to get everything sold then stop for good. That probably won't happen because I will always be changing my collection but I'd like to minimize selling.
Agree. I've pretty much done that. Sold everything that I really wanted to sell. I have a couple of maybe's, but am not in a hurry to sell them, may even gift them (an SLG and a belt).
It's interesting, because I'm in this mindset of trying not to sell as much, I've become even more picky about what I buy, mostly for bags. :P Not that I always think long and hard about what I buy (still make spontaneous purchases here and there), but I want to make sure I'll love it and use it for a while. I probably have 5-6 bags on my wishlist (3 of them which I would probably buy pre-loved) but I'm just not pulling the trigger (yet lol).

Just broadly. There's nothing that's yelling at me right now, which is a good thing.
My itch for a perfect pink bag has calmed me down a lot, and I'm still in the newly married phase with this beauty, so I'm not really looking around yet.
I saw a beautiful shade of pink on some Burberry bags last month. It was quite tempting. But I can't bring myself to buy Burberry bags, the depreciation in value just hurts my soul. Maybe on the resale market lol.

@dcooney4 You absolutely need some pink. And you have some beautiful blues.
@Jereni The Ferragamo is my fav too because of the color. My interest in straw/raffia is going up the closer we get to spring.
@Sunshine mama Love your 3jours.
Every summer I feel like buying a straw/raffia bag. But then I did a test last year with a much cheaper bag on Amazon and I only took it out a handful of times. So for now, I guess it's not worth it for me. :P But I do love seeing everyone else's straw/raffia bags!

It's a super cute bag - the leather looks lovely.
A spot on the inside would creep me out - I'd be constantly wondering/worrying about what it *might* be.
I saw that you're going to exchange it tomorrow - I think that's the best idea!
Joining you @dcooney4 in the no self control club... I bought the Fendi Touch as soon as my SA (or at least the one who received it first) got it. So that's 2 impulse buy + 1 gift and we aren't even mid-March...

I would say return because of the stain + you said you don't need a new black bag despite eyeing it for months (you resisted well so far!). I am trying to not be a bad influence...but can't deny how pretty it is!

These are all beautiful!

Joining the "I bought Another Bag" crowd...

But - I did indeed have a 'need'. We just came back from Maui, and it was beautiful, and it rained a lot. Like a lot a lot. And it was windy as heck. I brought the Goyard and the Ferragamo Trifolio, but carried the Goyard twice as much because of the rain - I wanted to not worry about the bag getting soaked at some point... there seems to be two types of rain on Maui - a gentle misty rain and a monsoon. One's kinda fun, the other not so much.
I need another coated canvas bag.
So I looked around. Some of you may remember my LV Favorite bag - it was not a favorite at all - it was too small and every time it fell over, all my stuff fell out. But I did like the Damier Azur, because it was a great summery color. So I bought a Graceful - it will probably be too big, and I'll need a shaper - but I like the slightly slouchy look of it, the one shoulder strap, the pretty pink interior (I am a sucker for a pink interior), and I'd rather it be a bit big than too small - because someone (Mr Cookie) wants me to carry his things too.

It looks soft and pillowy! I'd keep it.

I love most blues. For a long time my favorite color was periwinkle, a soft purply blue. Now I think it is aquamarine. For bags, I prefer jewel-tones rather than pastels, so a sapphire blue is ideal.

Regarding taupe, I don't usually care for it, mostly because beiges don't go with my coloring or my wardrobe but I have one taupe bag that has purplish overtones.

I have one blue bag. It's a dusty blue/gray/purple, and photos do it no justice at all. It's my beautiful, even if kind of too big, Brahmin large Duxbury in Regal mini melbourne. I don't know if it is nubuck, but it feels like something else I felt that was described that way. It's not as soft/plush/long nap as suede, but similar to it. And the gold of the croc embossing is amazing. When no light reflects on it, it just looks gold, which is already beautiful enough. But when you move the bag and the light reflects on the gold, you get changing bursts of reds and blue and oranges and greens. Sometimes I stand with it in the sunlight, or in a parking lot at night under the light posts, and stare at it while I move it back and forth like a weirdo, watching the different colors appear across the bag. It's mesmerizing. I really wish I had it in a medium sized handbag rather than this large one. I may only have the one blue, but it deserves 3 pictures!

I do the same with my Brahmin bags. I love these color changing versions they make.

Thanks! In, out, doesn’t matter to me so long as I love it lol
(I’m a very late adapter

@limom , that pale pink bag is the embodiment of hope for Spring !

@cowgirlsboots , I love your new to you Buffalo leather bag
Thank you @880 ! Meanwhile I polished and cleaned it properly, but haven´t worn it yet. My big wallet doesn´t fit into it properly (I´m too scared to scratch the wallet pushing it in) and I was too lazy to change into a smaller wallet. Talking of lazy: I didn´t take new photos of the bag either, yet, though it would fit so nicely into blue week.
It´s sitting in my room and I enjoy looking at it while sewing.
