2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

[Vintage Leather]

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.



• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.





So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

November 12 - Saint Laurent, Tods

November 19 - Tory Burch, Valentino

November 26 - Bags by Jewelers: Bulgari, Cartier, Tiffany Co, Van Cleef & Arpels. Alternatively, the pillboxes, compacts and other lovelies made by jewelers that fit in your bag.

December 3 - independent artisans and custom bags.

Blue week

My blues tend to me navy or smoky blues. I missed out on a bright blue Gucci Marmont with enamel hw because I was worried I was buying for the sake of the hw, I think it would have ben nice with my bright blue Hermes hat though.


Gucci BTH can look grey but it's officially called (Aviazione) Aviation which is blue

May I ask how you style this bag? I have a couple of bags that are hardware-heavy and I can never seem to wear them well. Style advice would be much appreciated, if it's not too cheeky a request.

Not cheeky at all, I know what you mean. When I bought it my SA actually gave me style advice because I had a few misgivings. She said '"Just wear it like jewellery" and that's what I do. Either full-on luxe-boho (not just 'cottage-core') e.g. Gucci gold Dionysus knee boots under long silk Cavalli flounce-tier midi, hair down (I have long hair) H scarf as a belt and either lots of rings (doesn't matter which metal) or chunky chains (that was pretty much the AW08 catwalk look anyway) - OR sporty-dandy, knee-breeches in dark olive velvet (or black velvet shorts) tights/leggings, hiking boots, cashmere/wool roll neck and tweed jacket with lamé flecks OR all black or all grey (or all something) very minimalist, narrow silhouette, ponytail (or pulled back hair) and very large gold creole earrings (or my vintage YSL clip-ons - anyway statement).

The coat is a very old TF for Gucci sheepskin (if I can still get in it). When my parents were buying (I think it was a Christmas present) I used to be even more into RTW than bags, and Gucci make amazing coats, especially their leather of course. And I still wear the same pieces - and I don't care

That kelly is gorgeous and the perfect shade of blue. Is the hardware silver? I like that you were able to show your old bags. I am never able to retrieve mine.

If fashionistas wear white and beige bags year round, pale pink is fair game too IMO. The only bag I would think is “off limits” in cold/cool weather is straw/wicker/jute/etc.

It’s the LC Le Panier Pliage, size small. They had the XS last year, but that was too small for me for a day bag. Love the pink and the embroidery on the front. Very tempted to add the green as well.
Looking forward to warm weather so I can use it.

Marvelous - I really like the Tory Burch Camera bag and the Mulberry is so fun!

Just broadly. There's nothing that's yelling at me right now, which is a good thing.

some blue bags: TPM blue feutre felt Evelyne; Bleu Obscure JPG fringe kelly 42, phw; chanel metallic blue strip reissue choc bar bag; Bleu orage 25K, ghw; 28K Bleu marine quadrille, phw; and Bleu Abysse box 28K, weather treated and refurbished, phw, brushed by @docride (though IMO, Bleu orage is more green gray lol); and Navy cargo picotin pm. CSGM, coupon indiennes, Bleu canard, potiron colorway. IRL, the fringe kelly is much more blue than the box kelly (which is more gray). Blue pleated tiered skirt, Song concept store, Vienna.
