2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

Anecdotes on tpf about lower quotes, shipments gone missing, rescinded offers, lengthy payouts etc. I've also seen some of the brick&mortar stores in my area that I've sold to in the past go out of business during covid (not surprising). I'm probably being overly cautious/sensitive, but it does not seem like a great market for sellers right now, so I'll just sit tight until I feel better about it. Better yet, I'll start using my items again and hopefully decide not to sell after all.
I think you're smart to hold on to your items for now. While I haven't experienced any of the more major issues discussed in the FP thread, their quotes are abysmally low, almost like they are saying, "Please, please don't send us this item." And if you do run into issues with them losing your items or delayed payments, their CS is almost impossible to get a hold of.

TRR sounds like it is on the verge of going bankrupt, so I wouldn't feel comfortable with them having my items in their possession. I do still think Yoogi's is great to work with both on the buying and selling side.

Since I'm mostly just selling my Coach pieces now, I'm pretty much exclusively using Poshmark, which is well... Poshmark, lol.

February stats

Purses in or out - zero in but, ONE OUT!!! The Just Campagne finally sold. The buyer was lovely - she said that she had sold one just like it and had regretted it, she was thrilled to find mine.
I do wonder if it was someone on this thread or someone on TPF who saw my post - if so Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Scarves in or out - Zero! Yay me!

I only wore 6 bags in February, but that was because I was out of town for 2 weeks. I learned that I really like my Godard Sac Rouette (even though it's a tad too big) and that I need another coated canvas type bag in gray/beige - on the hunt!

I'm still reading The Story of Edgar Sawtelle, because my free time has been taken over by a project that I'd like to have done before Christmas. I'm making cross-stitch stockings for my son's SOs - they're part of the family!
I hope I don't go blind tho!

It isn't a good market for sellers but I don't think it is going to get better. Commissions are going to get bigger, costs get higher, the amount you net is going to be less. Plus so many more companies are entering the resale business. When the company that makes the item you are selling starts selling used items themselves, it is harder for you to compete.

I'd like to get everything sold then stop for good. That probably won't happen because I will always be changing my collection but I'd like to minimize selling.

I do change bags almost daily, but I don't go out everyday.
This is interesting. I don't go out everyday either and this has made me reluctant to change bags often, but thinking about it, I think I should change more frequently, even if I don't go out. Changing bags almost daily means that the purse gets out of the dust bag and is aired a bit. Additionally, it serves as eye candy and decoration, sitting in my dining area.
Broke my ban for this:

It’s the LC Le Panier Pliage, size small. They had the XS last year, but that was too small for me for a day bag. Love the pink and the embroidery on the front. Very tempted to add the green as well.
Looking forward to warm weather so I can use it.
So pretty! Love the pink trim and the embroidery!

Broke a Dooney & Bourke, bought a Gucci, sold a Brahmin wallet. Despite temptation of adorable rabbit-themed bags and that beautiful Kate Spade heart bag (still a threat), I've mostly resisted and held steady

You're doing a great job resisting. I am doing that right now as well.

This is SO CUTE!!! Love it. My seasonal obsession with straw/canvas/textured bags is back in full swing.

The bags have stayed, several of the SLGs are gone. In 2022, I added:

Polene Cyme mini in lilac

Coach Willow shoulder bag in deep berry, Ferragamo Studio in lollipop (my perfect pink!), and Polene Neuf in blush (a dusty pink IRL)

That Ferragamo is EVERYTHING.
