2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

February Stats
Bags in: 2
Bags out: 4 (2 gifted, 2 donated)
SLGs in: 0
SLGs out: 0
Carried: 7

Preloved Monogram NeoNoe in excellent condition: I've been looking for an everyday bag that is both classic and classy. I realized that if I'm going to spend this much, I want to actually use it more often than not. It's also my first LV purchase since I've inherited quite a few from my mom over the years. The NeoNoe met her inspection (she's owned LV and others for yearsss) so I feel more proud of it! I'm mid-30s now so I've "waited" long enough to finally appreciate & share my mom's passion for luxury bags.

Coach Soft Tabby Hobo in black: This wasn't planned but I got a Rack giftcard from my MIL and gambled on what was available online. Did some research and I was not steered wrong. So soft & roomy. Can't wait until it's more wore in. It's still a bit stiff but it's only been a few days. Hehe.

Been rotating through too many top handle/small structured bags that I have to reorganize quite often, so happy to have timeless casual options for lazy Mom days when I just want to throw in everything.

February goals
- no bags in
- 10 bags used
- spread out more evenly the bags used so I don't have a 60%-40% for 2 bags and 10% for the rest
- wear 1 cute outfit a week that does not consist of a jumper dress with leggings/thights

Feb stats:
Bags: In 2-3, Out 4
** 1 Longchamp expandable for overnight travel. My new job requires weekly train travel and I don't want to use a suitcase for that.
** 1 North Face backpack as my husband doesn't want to share anymore! I will use it for work & also weekly swimming pool trips!
** 1 mini Peekaboo in white Selleria... Still torn and feeling bad about this purchase so I might return (after I collect it). Everyone keeps telling me to buy the Medium Lady Dior in grained leather for a similar price and style. I don't own any of the "big ticket" Chanel/Hermès/Dior but I love and wear all my bags and Fendi is honestly my favourite brands. Husband says to just get the ISeeU regular in white for the price
** Out: 3 Cambridge satchel + 1 Longchamp travel bag large, all on loan to my mother.

Bag used: 5 but really proud as I changed bags each time I went out basically. I just need to get outside of the house more!

YTD:
Purses: In 6-7, Out 6

Coloured bags of the week:
Pink Givenchy cross3. I absolutely love this bag and it's a workhorse. One of my main Spring/Summer bag. So easy to pack as well for travel.
PXL_20230301_103030369.jpg
Purple: Bottega Veneta the knot clutch. I only own 2 clutches so I literally bring this everywhere with me, regardless of whether it matches what I am wearing or not because I love this bag so much and it elevates any outfit!

One of my goal was to get dressed more and I am glad I managed. I am also much better at rotating my bags all the time now that I have started to use my free airlines pouches to put my necessities in and swap bags more easily.

I did ok.
Bag in:0
Bag out 0
Accessories in 2
Accessories out 0.

I have started to buy my casual summer stuff. Nothing cray Splendid and Farm Rio.
I also donated two bags of clothing. I have to let go of the fantasy of wearing smaller sizes. If maintaining a certain size means that I have to eat salad and apples from month on end. This is no longer acceptable to me.

I was reading a thread about a poster saying that she had been disappointed by the quality of a bag she had ordered online.
Thank you! This reminded me not to follow another silly trend and only buy stuff that I was confident about, sight unseen.

Bucellatti is so romantic and pretty. That ring looks really beautiful and less obvious as the brands favored on PF.
Was it taken over by LVMH too?

I love Bulgari but it is everywhere atm.

My god March will not be a 0 bag in after all! My husband just got offered my very first Hermes (and 2nd choice) from a boutique in Paris. It's the Garden Party in size 30 in blue Indigo. It's so bittersweet as it was supposed to be my "push present" so I got the bag but not the son. Telling myself that he interceded on our behalf because DH said no one was going out with bag and he was on his own in the 2nd room.

I have seen the Selleria Peekabo in person and the craftsmanship and quality!*chef’s kiss* That bag is SO well made and designed. The leather! I was so impressed. If you love the Dior better on its own merits, then return the Fendi and get it. But do not return it for the Dior because of what others have said or because you or feel the Fendi isn’t as “prestigious.” I have also seen the Lady Dior in person and while it is a nice bag, the quality is not any better than the Fendi, especially for the money. If you love the Fendi, then keep and wear it with pride! It is a bag that will last for decades.who cares what anyone else says!

You are so right @BowieFan1971 To me the Peekaboo is miles ahead of the Lady Dior. It fits better with my style and lifestyle. I have loved the style for years so it's not an impulse purchase and it would fit a specific need in my wardrobe as it would allow me to give my white Balenciaga a bit of a break and have an alternative summer bag.

At the end of the day, my bags are definitely not investment and not to be resold for profit. They are just functional items that brings me joy so I should continue to buy what I love. It served me well so far.

I have a mini selleria Peekaboo and I adore it! I love the carefree pebbled leather and I love the dual compartments. I use the one closed next to my body for my personal things, and the other is open for easy in and out access.
It's one of my favorites!

Here are my February stats:

Bags Out: 5 (5 sales to Poshmark)
Bags In: 4 (Oof, I know, I negated my progress here)
SLG's: None out or in.
Misc: 1 bag charm & Anine Bing shirt out (Poshmark sales again)

My goal for March is to continue w/ the Posh sales and not bring in any more bags. I'm also watching a lot of capsule wardrobe youtubers, so I plan to go through my clothes and put together a spring/summer capsule.

Bags Worn: I brought out my yellow Coach barrel bag, which I shared during our yellow week, and an upcrafted Coach swinger bag, which I'll show in the blue week. Otherwise, one of my new bags is a PS1 Tiny, and I am head over heels in love with it. It has become my default weekend bag, and sometimes my weekday bag too if I'm too lazy to switch:

My first time posting in this group for a while now! As I work towards a goal of shopping my own closet for the remainder the year, I think thread will be a great inspiration for me! My husband and I are working with our financial advisor to adjust our retirement goals. My budget for designer bags and accessories will come from the sale of current items and a wonderful consignment store that I have worked with for a couple of years now, primarily for clothes and contemporary designers.

With that in mind, my current stats are:

Bags out: 3
SLGs out: 1
Bags in: 2 I have extreme guilt over these, but they were purchased prior to my goal setting!!
Consignment sales: 10 items

Also posting my one and only purple bag. This one isn't going anywhere! ;)

So, so sorry for your loss :hugs:

Nothing on Earth can make-up I know, but a GP is a lovely bag.
