2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

Just discovered this fun thread! I’ve been trying to consciously broaden the usage of my bags within my existing collection.

Coincidentally since it’s blue week - this is my work bag of the week - my Proenza Schouler medium PS1 in indigo!

I love all your bags!

Blue week

My blues tend to me navy or smoky blues. I missed out on a bright blue Gucci Marmont with enamel hw because I was worried I was buying for the sake of the hw, I think it would have ben nice with my bright blue Hermes hat though.

Gucci BTH can look grey but it's officially called (Aviazione) Aviation which is blue

Loving all the bags and accessories in these pictures, but especially drooling over the bamboo top handle, the bleu marine SM and the vintage Chanel (those dark red accents! ) I love how you've styled the Venetia with the gorgeous coat!
Nope! Wear it like winter white and do post an action pic pls!

some blue bags: TPM blue feutre felt Evelyne; Bleu Obscure JPG fringe kelly 42, phw; chanel metallic blue strip reissue choc bar bag; Bleu orage 25K, ghw; 28K Bleu marine quadrille, phw; and Bleu Abysse box 28K, weather treated and refurbished, phw, brushed by @docride (though IMO, Bleu orage is more green gray lol); and Navy cargo picotin pm. CSGM, coupon indiennes, Bleu canard, potiron colorway. IRL, the fringe kelly is much more blue than the box kelly (which is more gray). Blue pleated tiered skirt, Song concept store, Vienna.

Beautiful blue bags! Love all the shades of blue, and that Bleu Abysse box Kelly makes my heart go pitter patter!
Breathtaking range of blues!:girlsigh: That iridescent Brahmin is stunning.

So much eye candy in this thread! Many of us love blue bags, and there are so many variations and shades of blue. It got me thinking -- what is your favorite shade of blue? Is it a crisp navy, deep midnight blue, turquoise, blue-green, powder blue, sky blue... the list can go on. Would love to hear your thoughts!

Thank you!

For a bag, it would have to be a slightly murky dark blue for me (as you can see). Prussian blue or a navy that's not too clear. I really love the moody grey-blue of the BTH, it's a warm grey-blue so the most chameleon of a colour.

just as a colour, a dark electric purple-blue is stunning.

Moody grey-blue is beautiful! Very atmospheric. Do you find that it goes with a lot of things? Dark blue goes with a lot and is quite versatile. I love grey blue and also cloud blue.

Electric purple-blue is stunning as a color. As a bag color, I admire it on others, but I'm not sure if I can wear it often (Maybe as a Bottega silk knot clutch for special occasions? I think that color would be fantastic in silk or fabric!)

Warm grey-blue is my taupe (taupe looks terrible on me) it goes with everything. In Winter, it softens black, blends with browns, greys, olives, marine and contrasts with rusts, amber, off-white, berry and cherry. In Summer it looks great with dusty colours like grey-pink and heather-greys and also warm, light colours like peach soft gold or khaki. I also like it with really deep burgundy and wines went I don't want to go with the obvious (navy or dark red).

Yes! Electric purple-blue would be fabulous on a BV silk knot. Plus, it's the perfect colour for sheen and shine. Now you've reminded me that somewhere I have a Sergio Rossi electric purple-blue clutch with gun-metal (very shiny) hardware and it's TDF. All I need to do is find it.

My favorite blues are usually dark blues with silver hardware, like a night sky. I like all blues though.
Yes, night sky blue is lovely. I particularly like how it can look almost black in dim evening lighting, and yet when you take it out in the sunshine the blue really glows and pops in the daylight!

Good point, I had not thought of warm grey-blue as an alternative to taupe, but you have given me some food for thought. I must admit that taupe can sometimes be unexciting, and it's nice to have another option which is neutral and goes with many colors. Plus, grey-blue is just a dreamy color! The Sergio Rossi clutch sounds wonderful! I hope you find it soon, and when you do, we would love to see pictures!

Sometimes I have no self control. Went shopping with a friend with the intention of getting some summer items. We stopped in Cole Haan and they finally had a bag I have been eyeing for months, and had one with out a scratch. I bought it but did I need another black bag? No! I got home and discovered a small stain inside from manufacturing. I laughed because I should have been good and stuck to my list. What do you think? Keep or not? It is buttery soft.

Taupe unexciting - sacrilege! Just kidding - I know it’s not for everyone but cool taupe is my favorite neutral.
In terms of blue, I tend to gravitate towards dark blues.

Joining you @dcooney4 in the no self control club... I bought the Fendi Touch as soon as my SA (or at least the one who received it first) got it. So that's 2 impulse buy + 1 gift and we aren't even mid-March...

I would say return because of the stain + you said you don't need a new black bag despite eyeing it for months (you resisted well so far!). I am trying to not be a bad influence...but can't deny how pretty it is!

My blue (mainly Navy/dark blue) collection
Fendi Mini bag (my favourite day to night crossbody bag with the cross3)
PXL_20230307_140944996.jpg
De Mellier mini Venice (perfect alternative to the Chloe small Marcie Saddle)
PXL_20230307_140912002.jpg
Hermès Garden Party 30 (can't wait to take it for a spin and make it my regular handheld bag!)
PXL_20230307_140817486.jpg
Cambridge Satchel Emily (such a workhorse on business trips/conferences!)

LOL, the funny thing is, my one taupe bag -- Pochette Metis in turtledove -- is actually one of my most-used bags. I do like taupe and find it versatile, but it's nice to consider or discover other colors that might serve as neutral options. The more the merrier.

It's a pretty bag, and it sounds like you like it. The small manufacturing defect inside the bag wouldn't bother me if I liked the bag overall. I would vote to keep, but if you're trying to keep the collection streamlined and will regret keeping it, it might be best to return.
