2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

It's rabbit. It's super soft. Bags were made to used so don't beat yourself up. What kills me is all the bags I donated that I could have rehabbed instead if I had only known. Also why did I carry pens inside my bags back then?
I feel the same way. I had so many really cute Coach bags that I just gave away and now wish I had back. Same with original Gucci and Fendi bags I had as a teen which are all coming back in style now!

I had around 10 pages or so to catch up on as i’ve been away, and its been wonderful reading them. This is such a warm and supportive thread, i am enjoying being a part of it very much:heart:

All the painting talk has me wanting to take classes! Same with the crocheting.
If you decide to try painting and need help or have a question ,I will be happy to help.

Oh, I've been really tempted to get the Kate Spade gingerbread house. It's so cute! I keep trying to decide between it, which is super cute, and this "large slim card holder" with a zip, which is more functional.

I've been really resisting buying either, because I don't need either, and I don't want to have too much stuff. But they are both too cute.

I saw your pictures of your holiday items and they are so cute. How can this level of cuteness be resisted?! :hbeat:
I saw this yesterday to0. So adorable! It was the first time in a long time that I really like quite a few things at the outlet.

I really want to share a superb moment I just had amidst otherwise challenging times. I hope you guys don't mind a short story.

This bag I gave away a few days ago was unplanned. The person I gave it to was someone who lives in my neighbourhood and whom I've seen walking with her twin boys a few times. Her kids look like adorable cherubs and attract a lot of attention, lol!

We've never interacted but, that day, I was getting in an early morning walk when I noticed her looking really upset.
I had just moisturized the bag to use myself and it was looking really lovely. When I saw her, I ran home and grabbed it to give to her. I don't know what compelled me but it just felt necessary in the moment. I felt better after doing it, as I had been depressed myself, and thought nothing more of it.

Well, she ran over to me on my walk this morning and, without saying a word, crouched down to touch my feet then kissed the top of my head. I stood frozen and confused, then she explained in broken English that, where she's from, this is a tribal custom to show respect.
She was carrying my bag and lovingly petting it as she thanked me. From what I understood with our language barrier, she's never had a real leather bag before! Such an honour to be the one to give her the first!

Life's so funny, isn't it? I'm not even supposed to be living where I am now! Had I been elsewhere and done the same thing, I may have been chased away for approaching a stranger, or I may have offended her by giving her something that wasn't new.
But here I was, in the right place at the right time, giving the bag to the right person. No risk, no offence, simply joy.

I've always loved and used leather goods. I'm ashamed to admit that I had forgotten that this is something that is unattainable for many. I had become accustomed to thinking that premier bags are unattainable but, this exchange was a reminder that even contemporary leather goods are out of reach for many.

My only hope now is that I don't see this woman again. It would be painfully awkward. As it is, this is such a beautiful moment that I'm going to tuck away in my heart.
What a lovely lovely story! Thank you for sharing. :hugs::hbeat:

I stumbled on this thread a few years ago and read for a long time before posting. What I could quickly tell was how wonderful everyone who participates here is. Lots of support, lots of encouragement, no judgment, no drama. Even if I’m too tired to post, I always enjoy reading this thread because it’s so warm and fuzzy! I’m glad you’re enjoying your time here. We’re happy to have you!

Last holiday season, and likely this holiday season too, I will be wearing this red Coach Tali with holiday color ribbon. I've worn the bag year round, but the ribbon I've only worn Thanksgiving through New Year's. I recently added this shiny card holder, though.

It's got a mirror finish, and you can see the strap is reflected in it. It's very pretty, and Coach has several bags in this finish. I was tempted by the Sammy 21 in this finish, but glad I just got the card holder. It's so delicate, and I'm not a gentle user, so I dented it the very first time I used it.

So pretty! I'm sorry the card holder is so delicate. That red is amazing!
