2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

I'm doing that this year. I've pulled out my Hammitt Nash in gunmetal. It's tiny and sparkly, so perfect for the season. 🎄

I've never seen a felt Evelyne! What a practical travel bag, though. Genius!
Also, I keep wanting to see more of your rainbow Bolide. Will have to search for any mod shots you may have posted recently.

Love, love, love! I don't remember the Coach x Peanuts collection at all! I'm going to be looking for pics now.
And a gingerbread house! I can't! So adorable!
Once you've started carrying them all, will you please post mod shots in here? I'd love to see each one. They sound incredible! That Japan exclusive charm has got me intrigued... :graucho:
I’ll try to remember to take (and post!) mod shots, but here are some photos I found online (credit to Kate Spade Outlet and eBay, respectively; the photo at the Coach Outlet is one I took last year).

I often carry this bag around the holidays.
Love this one! The perfect winter vibe and the ice skates always make me smile!
Also, there's that other Coach with the pink nylon and shearling trim, I think? Sorry if I'm remembering it wrong, but it feels very festive to me and I love whenever you share it. :)

Last year i purchased a Coach x Peanuts camera bag (because Snoopy hugging Woodstock!) and a Kate Spade card case that looks like a gingerbread house, so I got those out yesterday. I have one of the holiday LV bandeaus from a few years ago (the London one). I was going to tie that onto my LV Damier Ebene Speedy 20, but remembered the LV Monogram V Tote BB in Cherry DH got me for Christmas several years ago, so tied it to that instead. Looks very festive! And I just purchased a Japan exclusive Laduree holiday charm from eBay, so I clipped that to my LV Damier Ebene Neveferfull MM, into which I just switched. I normally don’t “wear” holiday, but I couldn’t resist.

And your kindness never ceases to amaze me. What an amazing person you are! I aspire to be more like you; what a wonderful example you set.
Oh, I've been really tempted to get the Kate Spade gingerbread house. It's so cute! I keep trying to decide between it, which is super cute, and this "large slim card holder" with a zip, which is more functional.

I've been really resisting buying either, because I don't need either, and I don't want to have too much stuff. But they are both too cute.

I saw your pictures of your holiday items and they are so cute. How can this level of cuteness be resisted?! :hbeat:

I don't really have any bags I associate with the holidays but I am hoping to use a few suede bags I feel are "winter" bags I wouldn't use other times of year (even though there's no real winter where I live).

My goal is to use each of these:

- black suede gucci Jackie hobo
- navy blue gucci suede blondie (have never worn)
- forest green jimmy choo suede hobo
- gold jimmy choo Callie (never worn)

I'm carrying a suede bag today! It's not very photogenic but I love it.20231120_115537.jpg

Oh, I was eying this exact same larger cardholder myself. Great minds! The whole line they’re doing in this theme is super cute. Very tempting…

Dearest @baghabitz34 , I am sorry to hear you got laid off. I am in STEM too. I have been laid off, too, not currently, and I remember the hurt. I see you dear STEM sister, and I send you hugs. If you ever need to vent we’re here for you. :hugs:
@baghabitz34 , I can’t say it any better then @More bags did, except to add that you will get a wonderful job, and when you do, there will have been something in this process that changed you and helped you grow. my DH lost his job a few years ago and it took 8 months to find another. It was horrible going through it, but it changed us so much, and we came out of it better people in so many ways.
I really want to share a superb moment I just had amidst otherwise challenging times. I hope you guys don't mind a short story.

This bag I gave away a few days ago was unplanned. The person I gave it to was someone who lives in my neighbourhood and whom I've seen walking with her twin boys a few times. Her kids look like adorable cherubs and attract a lot of attention, lol!

We've never interacted but, that day, I was getting in an early morning walk when I noticed her looking really upset.
I had just moisturized the bag to use myself and it was looking really lovely. When I saw her, I ran home and grabbed it to give to her. I don't know what compelled me but it just felt necessary in the moment. I felt better after doing it, as I had been depressed myself, and thought nothing more of it.

Well, she ran over to me on my walk this morning and, without saying a word, crouched down to touch my feet then kissed the top of my head. I stood frozen and confused, then she explained in broken English that, where she's from, this is a tribal custom to show respect.
She was carrying my bag and lovingly petting it as she thanked me. From what I understood with our language barrier, she's never had a real leather bag before! Such an honour to be the one to give her the first!

Life's so funny, isn't it? I'm not even supposed to be living where I am now! Had I been elsewhere and done the same thing, I may have been chased away for approaching a stranger, or I may have offended her by giving her something that wasn't new.
But here I was, in the right place at the right time, giving the bag to the right person. No risk, no offence, simply joy.

I've always loved and used leather goods. I'm ashamed to admit that I had forgotten that this is something that is unattainable for many. I had become accustomed to thinking that premier bags are unattainable but, this exchange was a reminder that even contemporary leather goods are out of reach for many.

My only hope now is that I don't see this woman again. It would be painfully awkward. As it is, this is such a beautiful moment that I'm going to tuck away in my heart.
This was so incredibly uplifting @jblended …..a generous act of kindness that was so spontaneous, it speaks to who you are and what kind of person you are. And its so very inspiring

Thanks! This one! I almost forgot about it!View attachment 5898013
this is too cute! Love the glitter bag with the ice skates too  perfect for the holiday season!

Is that fox fur trim? I used to have a suede Coach bag with a fox fur trim. It was gorgeous but bag being a light color got trashed over the years because silly me would do things like take it to use at Disney World.
It's rabbit. It's super soft. Bags were made to used so don't beat yourself up. What kills me is all the bags I donated that I could have rehabbed instead if I had only known. Also why did I carry pens inside my bags back then?
