2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

I’m getting all my images from Instagram because it’s already been a helluva long week.

A Roberta di Camerino bag for my lush materials satchel. And a Harvey’s Christmas tree mini Parkhopper for fun.

I have a weakness for Christmas
The Roberta di Camerino velvet bags are so lush! I adore them!
Last year I bought a small vintage dupe of the Bagonghe to scratch the itch. I haven´t worn it yet, just admired it as a decoration, so I guess it was a good decision not to buy into the actual brand and spend all that money.
For which occasions do you actually wear your beautiful bag?

I’ve always wanted a velvet bagonghi RdC. I’ve never seen one that was in great condition for a great price. And actually I cannot think of an outfit to wear with one except faded denim jeans and a white button down shirt (which is a combo I almost never wear). So, I totally understand where you are coming from lol. My mom once said that she would never wear a grandmother bag like the Hermes kelly bc she felt it only looked fabulous on younger women. I obviously don’t agree with her statement as it applies to Hermes, but I almost feel the same about the RdC.

ETA: I am not a pink or red bag person, but I would love to have the bag posted by @Vintage Leather above. It’s amazing. Definitely a bag for one’s imaginary life lol

So if I look at my RdC dupe I think I´d wear it with my usual: jeans or leggins, black top, good vintage coat and sunglasses. That´s the only every day solution I can come up with. (No white tops for me, certainly no button downs.) Of course I could pair it with some vintage LBD, gloves, hat, the works, but that would be much more formal or occasion wear for a vintage event. Not suitable for every day in this boring small town I live in. People already stare and whisper about my coats or 70ies maxi dresses.
I have many vintage grandmother bags. With my usual they go well, even though I am far from young.
The RdC dupe seems fairly delicate to me, so as usual I´m scared to ruin it (even though it was barely more than 20€ including shipping) and don´t take it to the supermarket... silly me! I really should! It´s pretty.
Originals in good condition are very hard to come by here and the prices are always very high. Too high for me.

I feel the same way. I had so many really cute Coach bags that I just gave away and now wish I had back. Same with original Gucci and Fendi bags I had as a teen which are all coming back in style now!
Same! Sigh.
If you decide to try painting and need help or have a question ,I will be happy to help.
That is incredibly sweet of you:hugs:in the new year, once things settle down, i do want to try my hand at it!
I stumbled on this thread a few years ago and read for a long time before posting. What I could quickly tell was how wonderful everyone who participates here is. Lots of support, lots of encouragement, no judgment, no drama. Even if I’m too tired to post, I always enjoy reading this thread because it’s so warm and fuzzy! I’m glad you’re enjoying your time here. We’re happy to have you!
Its a wonderful thread and i am very happy to be here:flowers:
Last holiday season, and likely this holiday season too, I will be wearing this red Coach Tali with holiday color ribbon. I've worn the bag year round, but the ribbon I've only worn Thanksgiving through New Year's. I recently added this shiny card holder, though.

It's got a mirror finish, and you can see the strap is reflected in it. It's very pretty, and Coach has several bags in this finish. I was tempted by the Sammy 21 in this finish, but glad I just got the card holder. It's so delicate, and I'm not a gentle user, so I dented it the very first time I used it.
Perfect holiday bag and scarf

I spent less than $100 on mine, and I wear it with everything. Jersey knit dresses, leggings and oversized sweater, jeans and a tee, little black dress, suit.

The only thing I really avoid is the color red because the bag is Very Red.

And people want to pet it. It’s my most complimented bag, but people do want to touch it all the time.

But, after 5 years of heavy wear, it looks like new.

Not to overstep this week's challenge but, I was just wondering if everyone has specific bags they carry for the holiday season?
A little late responding to this, but while I don't have a specific bag for the holiday season, I like to carry my embroidered Lady Dior more during the holidays because it feels festive to me.

Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.

Yesterday I spent some time reorganizing my bedside table, which had gotten messy. I removed a cut glass bowl that had been full of leftover Halloween candy and replaced it with a tray holding some winter beauty care needs. The skin really takes a beating in winter, and I am preparing a little care tray with items to use before bedtime. The tray holds a jar of rich cream for the hands that get so dry in winter as well as a jar of coconut oil and a small bottle of almond oil, both used as moisturizers. I also repurposed an old handbag that I wasn't using to hold samples and travel sizes of moisturizers that I intend to use up. This year, I added a foot cream and some socks to the tray, to be used at nighttime.
What are some of your winter care strategies to combat dry skin? Also, please share if you have repurposed a handbag and put it to some use around the house.

What a bargain! Congratulations! Wear her in good health! All your outfits sound great.

In winter my hands get extremely dry to the point of cracking skin and bleeding, so I have stocked up on handcreme and use it several times during the day and for the night. My favourite product is by Mixa. Really affordable, but the best I´ve tried so far.

My repurposed handbag is the big wicker basket I bought in summer and never wore. I´m using it to store sewing supplies. It lives on the handle of a chest of drawers and helps to keep my sewing table halfway organized.

I love your wicker basket! These big wicker basket bags are both decorative and practical for storing a variety of things.

My hands get very dry in winter too, but I'm not good about reapplying cream during the day even though I wash my hands often so I try to make sure I use a rich cream before bedtime. Another thing that's important in preventing dry hands is wearing gloves. I sometimes get lazy and if it's a short dash into the store, I will not bother with gloves, but that invariably results in very dry skin, so I have to remind myself to slow down and always put those gloves on during winter.

I really enjoy my basket! It holds all the stuff I need while working on a project and keeps it off the table or the floor plus it looks nice.

Gloves for me all the time too! It´s good I really love gloves and have a huge collection of vintage leather gloves.

This is the handcreme I use. It´s very good. Better for my hands than any expensive handcreme I´ve tried before.

My skin is so dry during winter! This year has been particularly bad already - and it’s only November. I even scratch in my sleep! My legs look like a cat took claws to them. My derm prescribed a cream that works well and is not too heavy or greasy. I love Necessaire for body cream; they make one that’s fragrance-free so it doesn’t interfere with perfume. I’m still trying to find a hand cream. I purchased one from Fenty Beauty to try once I get through some that are open, so we’ll see how that works.

As for repurposing, while it’s not a bag, per se, I use my Louis Vuitton Nice cases (I have two sizes) to store all of my bag charms. They sit on a closet shelf with some of my other LV, so not sure if that counts?
