2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

August 20 - Burberry, Celine

August 27 - Coach, Chanel

The Saut is small for me. It just about fits everything I need for everyday but nothing more. I can wear it x-body in the summer, but not with a thick coat. The BF leather is thick and gorgeous, and smells lovely. I’m glad I bought it but if it were Saut 27 it would be absolutely perfect!
Great review Pessie. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! :flowers:

My Hermes bags, photographed on a cheap gray throw (because everything else in the apartment is covered in cat hair OMG it never stops):
  • Trim 38s in pale gray and dark green
  • Yeohs in cerf and fabric, both black, plus the smaller bags that can be zipped to the (box?) handle instead, in silver something and b/w horsehair
  • generic black box clutch (the original product came strapped to a leather journal in contrasting color; I like this as a clutch)

And my namesake investigating. You can see her shedding right there spontaneously.

The SLGs are a little out of control, though not all of them are H:

Currently carrying a bright blue Calvi Duo not pictured.

And belatedly, including a Dior wallet, my only Dior item (maybe aside from a jacket somewhere waiting until I lose weight). I bought it very used because I love @Sparkletastic 's Diorama so very very much and wanted to see if I could live with it. Answer, no: It's so very fragile, so very heavy, and in a bag it would wear me instead of the other way around. I will just lust over Dioramas from afar.

Wow! You’re not short of SLGs  it’s so nice to see all the different colours together. I love your cat - and the trims also. Such a great bag.

Lovely collection and I adore your colorful stack of slgs. Your cat looks very much like one of mine, very pretty.

I'm late with September stats but don't have anything to report in terms of bag additions or changes to the collection.
The last few weeks have been difficult with some family health issues, so my bag usage has been nothing to write home about. It looks like the upcoming weeks will continue to be that way. My perfumes have been a comfort to me at this time though, serving as both aromatherapy, as well as a distraction, and I added a few more sealed extraits to my collection, but I really do need to bring that to a halt soon! Coming back to bags, I have an everyday satchel on my wish list, preferably with a top zip, two top handles and an optional shoulder strap, but it's not something I need immediately, so will continue to look and add when the time is right.

I love everything in your post! I always thought the Yeoh bags were cool and innovative. Beautiful cat - those eyes! I love colourful SLG, and the Dior wallet is stunning!

Do you have a satchel in mind or any contenders you are thinking about? What size or color?

Good question! Definitely mid-size, since this will be my running around/errands bag, and I like to have room to cram in some receipts and suchlike. No obvious branding, so no double C logos or monogram prints.

I've had my eye on the Alma in epi leather for a long time, but the BB size feels too small. The PM size might work, but for some reason I dither. Perhaps it's the shape -- I am currently more in favor of a rectangular shape versus the dome satchel style. The Antigona soft is another contender, but I need to go try it on. I really liked the all leather Gucci horsebit top-handled satchel, and eyed it for a long time in red, but it's not the color I want in an everyday satchel.

Which brings me to color. Ideally I would like for it to be a tan brown, which I find versatile, and good for year-round usage. However, I already have a lot of tan bags. In fact, my Delvaux Tempete is currently filling the role of my everyday bag, but I find the flap opening annoying if I'm going to be in and out of the bag a lot, so prefer something with a zip and two top handles, and also prefer softly structured, rather than very structured. So no tan brown or black, but I want something neutral so leaning towards dark (midnight) blue, very dark eggplant purple, deep forest green or maybe even a dark wine/burgundy color.
Those are some preliminary thoughts. I need to consider and look at some more options.

I'm impressed.... it sounds like you know exactly what you want. Now you just have to find the perfect bag. Is zipper a must- have?
