2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

Been so busy and sick, trying to catch up. Can barely catch my breath from @papertiger and @stacy_natalie Gucci collections. To die for! Love that Gucci wrap, lovely color combination! And I still have pages left to catch up on ...

Oops... that´s another month gone by. Did I buy bags? I really have to think about this and have a look around... oh yes, the boxcalf bag from the fleamarket for sure.

Plus September was my birthday month. DH gifted me two black, but very different, clutches and silly me bought myself a Dior HG bag to admire and be afraid of ruining. No proper photos yet, sorry!

40ies clutch in the background, 60ies clutch in the foreground. The latter is actual croc and has a very heavy frame.

My Birthday present to myself: Dior Samourai 1947.
It's the huge ( over 40cms) and certainly least coveted model of the range, but If feels very special to me.
The Dior is amazing. Great birthday present!

Hopefully you’ll have a great time with them both next week.
Renovating isn’t easy (I tried it once and it didn’t end well!). Well done on getting close to the end.

Great finds, and Happy Birthday!

Books I struggle to throw out. But last time I moved house it was easier to be ruthless and I cleared out loads, cookbooks especially. In truth haven’t missed them.
I still have most of my cookbooks but I only use a few of them. I get most of my recipes online these days. When we remodeled the kitchen, part of it included cookbook storage so I have to room to keep them.

I carried 8 bags in September.

I've been cleaning out a lot of the house in anticipation of painting and new flooring. I have to empty out dressers and bookcases so they can move them. I decided not to have the insides of the closets repainted because it seems too big a task to pack up those too. We're getting the floors done in them so I just have to get everything off the floor. I've put more things in the donate piles. I dread when I have to pack up my purses. I just don't have enough containers for everything.

Thank you very much! Things will look up soon, I'm certain.

Sorry, I don't have current pics since they're in storage but, here are older pics I'd shared on our earlier threads.

Note: if you're fond of the football shape, Mirta has some more refined options of the same design (called Opera and Operatta bags, iirc).

Edit to post a link. Here's the Opera bag that I mentioned. Link

This shape has become so common since the days I got mine! There's another that looks near-identical to mine (Link) but this one has nicer details. My panels are held together with knotted leather cord, this one has leather buttons, has nicer finishing and the bag looks more functional in size.
I prefer the Mirta bag tbh. I think it's a more polished and much lighter (in terms of weight) version of my bag.
Very unique and I can see why you would hesitate to part with (I too have never sold anything even though I rarely use the majority of my bags, several have been used once or never been used). I am laughing too myself that I just realized by "football" you probably meant what we call soccer in the US. I was literally picturing a bag made from an American football lol anyway I have never seen this style bag before so thanks for sharing!
