2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

Similar to @Purses & Perfumes I have two bags I struggle to style, though I love them. One is my turquoise peekaboo ; I love the color but it sort of feels off with other pastels? Idk can I wear it with very pale peach or pink ?
The other is my navy bag , I feel like when I'm wearing blue ( rarely) or dark denim I rather use a red or burgundy purse for a pop of color. With white, I tend to choose a different bag. And I find it heavy with pastels. So it sits in my closet too often.
First of all, I love your Peekaboo! I think it's a Tiffany bluish color? I think that it could look ok with pink, peach or even coral (see attached). I think it would look great with black or cream or white. Might look good with the right shade of yellow, navy, grey, or a lighter aqua color. And this might sound odd, but I think that color pairs with red in an interesting way. I have a jumpsuit that's a light blue that has red flowers and I thought it was such an unusual color combo until I realized I loved it. I'll look for a pic.

As for navy blue, I like with white or an aqua or mint green. Hope that helps!

ETA: adding photo of jumpsuit I was referring to. More light blue than turquoise but might still look good with red in an unexpected way in my opinion.

ETA again: Too funny.... no sooner had I posted this while watching a TV show called Loot, the main character played by Maya Rudolph appears on screen wearing this dress: light blue with red!

As we are slowly approaching fall. I am starting to think about replenishing some things and reorganizing my closet. How do you organize your closet? Mine is by color and type of item.
My closet isn't very organized except that all the pants are together, etc. As I wear a top, I'll move it to the front so I'll remember to choose something from the back next time.

My purses are mostly on bookshelves. They are stored based on which shelf they fit on, so smaller bags are together, but other than that, there isn't any kind of order.

I have a cabinet for boots, another for sneakers and flats, and another for sandals. I don't wear heels anymore.

Same here. Color from light to dark within same type of item. Very OCD
Jumping on the rainbow order OCD bandwagon, organized by section. One section long hanging for jumpsuits and another for dresses. Then sections for pants, skirts, tops and jackets. I have built in shelves for shoes and boots, and then a small handbag closet (photos shared previously) also sort of organized by color. Everything else (jeans, track suits, t-shirts, workout clothing, bathing suits, pajamas, etc.) in drawers. I also have a few drawers built in for accessories like sunglasses and jewelry.

Thank you I might need to rethink how I mix color and accessories!

As we are slowly approaching fall. I am starting to think about replenishing some things and reorganizing my closet. How do you organize your closet? Mine is by color and type of item.
All the closets here are on the smaller side. My closet organization includes the following components:
An in-season closet that holds clothing relevant to the current season.
An out-of-season closet (small section) in the guest room, that holds out of season clothing and longer dresses.
Handbags are stored on the shelf at the top of the closet. Since there is an overflow, some are stored on a wooden shelf.
Dresser drawers that hold lounge wear, exercise clothes, pajamas and suchlike.
Under-bed storage that holds sweaters and heavier knits.
A coat closet in the entryway hallway that holds all outerwear -- coats, blazers, gloves, and suchlike.
A footwear closet at the entryway, that holds most of my footwear. I do not wear outdoor footwear inside the house.
So, broadly, I am organizing by type. Within each type or category, (for example, turtlenecks), I might organize by color.
Kelly 35 and Sac 404….cooler weather and a little more put together/elevated outfit required for those. Maybe other people would wear them with super super casual clothes but it doesn’t feel right to me.
I don't have a Kelly, but my Tempete is similar in shape, and I like to wear it with elevated casual outfits, so definitely a bit more put together.
I might need to rethink how I mix color and accessories!
It might help to set aside an afternoon and try on a few different bag/outfit pairings in front of the mirror. This might help in discovering a few more outfit and bag pairing options. For me, turquoise is a statement color. I would build the outfit to complement the bag, but still keep the focus on the bag, which is stunning.

What do you do with clothing that is good but doesn't fit your current size? Does it stay in your closet, or do you store it elsewhere?
I store it in under the bed bags. Since my weight has fluctuated over the years, I no longer donate stuff that doesn’t fit anymore. Since I have slowed down buying clothes and shoes to a trickle, I really don’t have an issue with space but no point having stuff I can’t wear hogging up valuable real estate.
