2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

Fun day yesterday…. Dipped my toes into Hermes for the first time.

Ended going home with an absolutely gorgeous scarf, one of the ‘Jardin’ ones:

This was at the DC boutique, but I must say I don’t know if I will end up going back. That boutique is embarrassingly devoid of leather goods. I was figuring I’d get to see at least a few different bag styles in person, and wallets but NOPE lol. They had like 3 wallets in the whole store and no bags. Granted, I didn’t ask about bags and I’m sure they have stuff in the back that they show to established clients but I am not one of those. I think I’m going to save my Hermes visits for when I’m on travel to LA or Europe… at least the European boutiques I’ve been to were far more fun and allowed more stuff to be seen.

Beautiful!

I know, sometimes it's difficult to tell what H do actually sell.

I won't know if I'll really love it until I get it but I've been looking at it for over a month. It's a color that seems to be only available on the Brahmin site, which means it probably won't ever be discounted more. I wasn't looking specifically for this color. I was actually hoping to find a Brahmin in a bright red as I felt the shininess would really complement a color like red, but I really like this color too and the style is adorable, even if it might be hard to use. I really like the 3 Brahmins I have already. They are very affordable so even not on sale, it's a good deal. The reason I haven't already bought it is that there is a coupon for $250+ and it is only $245 so I have to add something to the cart to get the discount. I can't decide if I should get the cheapest thing, a pen for $10, leather conditioner for $20 I don't really need but would possibly use eventually, or a card case for $65 that I don't need but would probably get some use of -- the total I would pay would be a little more than just for the bag but it would be like getting the card case for $15.

This has such a spring feel to it. I would probably get the card case as I could use it as small gift at the holidays, if I decided not to keep it.

Great stats, especially your outs and reading pace. Any book recommendations you’d like to share?

Wow on the 4 bag outs this month! What have you been reading?
Thanks! The second Mrs. Astor, by Shana Abe', The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave, The Irish Boarding House by Sandy Taylor, and I forgot one , The Family Remains by Lisa Jewel. I usually only read about one a month, but my cable and internet was out for 6 days last month.

Get what you need and add the extra if need be, OR make a decision to add something smaller and be able to have a nice gift for someone else.

March stats:
2 bags in: AoL Mayfair & pink LC Le Pliage. Just learned the LC is not raffia - it’s canvas with a straw effect.
0 bags out
Several pairs of sneakers in as I get ready for warm weather & wearing low tops.
1 SLG in: AoL one
2 SLGs out: an old MK wallet I haven’t used in years, a cosmetic case that wasn’t what I expected & never used.

Used 13 different bags. I did manage to incorporate more colorful bags.

Gorgeous scarf! Is it a Polene you own that I feel might be in the same blush pink?

The DC boutique is embarrassingly low on more than just bags and SLGs, and that dates back to pre-COVID days. The SAs only seem inclined to assist the more established clients. Every time I go there, I have to basically tackle one just standing around for help! I much prefer Vegas, where stock is better (albeit still not great) and SAs are more willing to be helpful. I’ve only been to H boutiques in Europe once or twice, and only in the more popular tourist places in London like Selfridges. There are more bags on display (even Birkins, which are never on display in the U.S.), but all marked Not for Sale, which I always found curious. Maybe they were reserved for other clients?

Thanks! My reading taste may not appeal to anyone else. Lately I've been reading books recommended by Amazon, those that are free or fairly cheap on kindle. One I really liked was Keeper of Enchanted Rooms by Charlie Holmberg. It's kind of a fantasy. I also like Frieda McFadden, whose books are thrillers, and Catherine Ryan Hyde, whose books are full of hope. These are all simple fast reads.
Thank you - I’m adding those names to my want to read list.

Thanks for sharing those titles. I read The Last Thing He Told Me, did you hear that Apple is releasing a TV series based on the book, starring Jennifer Garner? I haven’t read The Family Remains, however, I recall reading the first in that series, The Family Upstairs.
Adding more books to my want to read list!
Also, sorry to hear the new bag doesn’t work for you. I hope you can find another colour that’s a better fit.

The black but it is not on sale. I also like some of the fun colors. This one is not returnable so once it sells or I give it as a gift then I will try again. The style is really cute.
I hate that when it happens to me. I buy something and it doesn't work for whatever reason and I can't return it. So annoying.

My white bag. It's a Coach mini Preston. As usual for me, my white bag has something extra. I probably wouldn't have gotten it if it didn't have that lovely blue trim. I love that it is a bright white rather than cream as I don't feel I look good in cream. I love everything about this bag. I haven't had any trouble keeping it clean.

I have a clutch that is mostly white but it is colorblocked so I'll save that for the multi week.
