2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

My white bag. It's a Coach mini Preston. As usual for me, my white bag has something extra. I probably wouldn't have gotten it if it didn't have that lovely blue trim. I love that it is a bright white rather than cream as I don't feel I look good in cream. I love everything about this bag. I haven't had any trouble keeping it clean.

I have a clutch that is mostly white but it is colorblocked so I'll save that for the multi week.

The contrast is beautiful

I love white/off-white (not sure about cream) it's a bright but neutral 'pop' when needed. Another couple of Gucci's have a white background but I'll wait until multicolour week.

Whites/Cream I still have:

I suppose more light beige than cream but anyway Gucci BOLD BTH; Saint-Laurent (or YSL) Ivory Large Majorelle; Brig; Barbarto Ostrich tote; H Arceau clutch. I also have a large white leather hobo, but I don't have a pic.

My bag friends, so sorry I remain MIA and unable to respond to all your chat, news and gorgeous bags. I was really looking forward to all the colour weeks but have stayed offline focused on healing. Although, I’m feeling much better, I’m still working hard on recovery with a way to go so very mindful of not pushing myself too much. I’m just working part time for now and my employers are really supportive.

I also managed to have a high impact falling accident too (ridiculous at my age) and ended up in A&E with a head injury getting staples (I still have whiplash!). However, I just wanted to let you all know that I’m thinking of you and sending healing vibes to all who need it and purse love to everyone else!

As I’m finding contentment through awareness and acceptance, in happier news, I’ve ordered two pairs of amazing sparkly shoes with small kitten heels and some pretty tops to go with jeans. It’s part of a bid to find the joy and socialise a bit more. I’m just beginning to add to my long dog walks and cafe trips with cocktails, eating out, theatre and concerts!

Bag usage for three months:

You’ll see it’s mostly my new Bryn Shoulder bag and Kate Spade satchel in black nylon. Both are perfect for a lower key lifestyle. As I get out more it will change.

Book recommendations - if you like history anything by Lucy Worsley: so well written and easily accessible while full of interesting stories and information - if you like poetry, beautiful heart warming and inspirational little book by Donna Ashworth called “I wish I knew”.

Best wishes to all again and I’ll pop back in due course as things level off further.
So sorry to hear about the fall! Glad to hear you are on the mend, and wishing you a speedy and complete recovery. :hugs:

March stats: No bags in or out. I don't have numbers, but I've definitely rotated my bags a bit better than before, so I'm pleased about that.

The last few weeks have been busy and I've been too tired to even surf websites online to shop. I did however buy three pairs of trousers from mid-range brands. My casual wardrobe has been quite heavily reliant on jeans over the last few years, but this year, I have been moving away from that a bit. I decided it would be fun to try some trousers and picked up two straight leg ones and one which has a slightly wider leg. I will have to see if I actually end up wearing them or go back to my denim (or just end up wearing dresses for spring and summer, which is what I usually like to do this time of year).
Does anyone else here favor trousers over jeans, and if so, what are your favorite silhouettes and how do you style them?
On styling pants: if it’s more casual pants like cargos & khakis, I usually pair them with a tee & sneakers. If it’s a wide leg pant, I pair it with a more fitted top. I try to keep in mind to balance my silhouette & have fun with colors.

@Purses & Perfumes , i 100% agree with @baghabitz34. I prefer to wear wider length pants or dresses to jeans these days. It feels more modern and makes me feel a bit younger lol

i do wear sneakers with everything though i prefer the old school laceups reminiscent of the seventies rather than the athletic sneakers Similar to the reeboks of the eighties.

I can't give up my jeans. I feel I don't look good in wide legs or crops. It took me a long time to adopt the skinny jean trend but once I did, I felt they were made for me. I have skinny legs so most that are meant to be tight look like straight legs on me. I'm wearing the looser ones (but still skinny) these days to sort of be in style. I feel like skinnier legs also make me look less short - another reason I won't wear crops.

Balenciaga Town in Lagon.     I've been wanting a bag in this color since the first time I saw it.
In keeping with my 2023 Goals I am upgrading from my teal Coach Outlet bag to this Premier brand bag.

This is breathtakingly beautiful! I'm a teeny bit jealous and wondering how this compares to my aquamarine Bal. I love all these turquoise shades and keep second guessing whether I got the best one!

Agree about pairing a wide leg with a more fitted top. Balancing the silhouette is key. Cargo and Khaki pants are easier for me because of the casual vibe, and I would style them similar to jeans. It's the pants in slightly dressier materials that throw me off a bit because they feel a bit more formal to me (maybe because they remind of the days I wore pant suits to work years ago in an office setting). I will have to play around a bit with them to see how I can adapt them to a casual look. Maybe having fun with colors is one way to do it!

I have been having fun pairing the new pants with different tops. I have relied on jeans for so long for casual dressing, and while I still like them, I feel like I want to try some different, modern looks. I really like how you've styled your white bags, and the dress in the first picture is my favorite with its casual, chic vibe. Love all your bags too!

@lill_canele, aww, your pugs are so cute. It's interesting how our fur babies have their own personalities! Good to hear that he's settling down now. Sorry to hear about the work load. I get crabby when things get too busy and I don't get enough time for self-care, particularly things like eating healthy, exercise and of course relaxation, including talking about handbags! Hope you will have enough time to do things that are relaxing and bring balance.
