2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

I do like skinny jeans when tucked into knee high boots -- it somehow balanced the proportions, and also helped show off a nice pair of knee high boots. So my skinny jeans are still around. For the time being, they are stored in a tub but I might pull them out to wear with the taller boots during the colder months. I never had a pair of Ugg boots; not sure why (despite living in a cold place).
I still wear my skintight skinny jeans and like them. But I finally started hemming them to the right length instead of sloppily letting the excess length pool around my ankles. Oops, I have to admit it makes a difference.
The only other style of jeans I own are slim straight leg. They were a hand me down from my older son to his younger brother, who didn´t want them... they fit me nicely and I really like them. They are velvety soft. (Same as a skinny pair that reached me the same way.) Producers seem to put more thought into comfort when making men´s jeans.

Ugg boots have a reputation of being ugly and clunky. I love that I don't have to wear socks, just put them on and go. They are so cuddly. They have improved the look of some styles in recent years. I have several that look more like regular boots in that they are tightly fitted. Some have zippers to aid in the tighter fit.
I tend to live in my Ugg dupes. They are my all year round slippers and often enough accompany me out, too. You are right! They are really cuddly and work without socks, too.
DS also wears them as slippers, but not out of the house. His are starting to show severe wear now. As long as it is possible I keep repairing them. Last week half a sole came off and as glue didn´t work I simply stitched it back on. The cheap hook awl I bought to repair his sneakers is really paying off. Haha!

At some point I´ll have to bit the bullet and get him new ones, maybe even real Uggs. The style we both are wearing now- great qiality by the German brand Sommerkind- has long been discontinued. I still have two or three as good as new pairs in stock, but they are all too small for him.

The quality of real Ugg has dropped. I have a few pairs I got many years ago that are still in great shape. The newer ones don't last as long. The fur isn't as good as before. I only buy them on sale. For slippers, I like Minnetonka. They have some that are real sheepskin. Don't forget etsy or ebay. Many years ago I bought some on ebay I think that were made of alpaca. They didn't last long because they had soft soles but they were so soft.

Please meet my latest addition to the imposter family.
I bought another Kuhn Fine Line Vintage ( from the 90ies) bag.

She is a 35cm model. When she arrived I was very disappointed, because she is blue and not black. I looked into the listing: nope, it didn´t say she was black and as soon as I knew she is navy the photos clearly pictured her as such...
Meanwhile I´m ok with the color. It´s neutral, it works with black.

That´s good to know. Thank you!
Honestly I haven´t bought any of my dupes new from a shop. They all came off ebay. Some were slightly used, others as good as new in their box.
A pair usually lasts me about two years of daily wear. After this the fur is still great, but the insoles and heel caps are crumbling.

I experimented and replaced both on a pair I was about to throw away last week. The job didn´t turn out as neat as it should have, though. I simply don´t have the right materials and machinery plus it was a first attempt. Well, they are wearable again- at home.

Even used the real Uggs have a hefty pricetag here.

Nice bag, and I love those red gloves!

Beautiful color. What do you do with the old bags once you’ve upgraded?
Thank you! :flowers: A few have gone to family or friends. But we'll over 90% get donated to a local charity for victims of domestic violence. A friend works there so I know the women get them. I don't trust most charities, so this (and through my church) is how I give. Hopefully a nice purse gives them a reason to smile, and maybe an extra little bit of confidence at a job interview, as they rebuild their lives.

Balenciaga Town in Lagon.     I've been wanting a bag in this color since the first time I saw it.
In keeping with my 2023 Goals I am upgrading from my teal Coach Outlet bag to this Premier brand bag.

Stunning color, congrats!!!

Enjoying the discussion around jeans. I haven’t bought new ones in a bit because I want to lost some of the weight I’ve gained. But I’m also a fan of the ‘slight bootcut’ style, as well as straight leg. Even when I’m in shape, I don’t necessarily like the skinny just because I tend to find them less comfortable. But then again I like leggings, so it can’t be about the feel of material hugging all the way down the leg, per se.

I just cut any jeans I want to shorten, and don't bother hemming. I mean, raw edge is on trend anyway, so no point in hemming. It sounds like you have found some good-fitting jeans (and with jeans, finding a pair that fits well is everything).
@whateve, I used to see Uggs around a lot more about a decade ago. I don't see them around that much anymore (or maybe I don't get out enough?)

Perhaps it’s the type of fabric that makes the difference for you between skinny jeans and leggings. I’m guessing the leggings you like might be a softer material than some denim. The softer fabric makes a big difference to me.

I don't have any of the traditional Uggs anymore. Most of the boots I wear I doubt most people would identify as Uggs.

I feel self conscious in leggings but not in skinny jeans. They don't show as much. The skinny jeans I have are very soft and super comfortable. Some don't even have zippers.
