2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.



• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.





So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

August 13 - Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta

August 20 - Burberry, Celine

August 27 - Coach, Chanel

September 3 - Chloe, Dior

September 10 - Dooney & Bourke, Fendi

September 17 - Ferragamo, Givenchy

September 24 - Goyard, Gucci

October 1 - Hermes, Kate Spade

October 8 - Loewe, Longchamp

October 15 - Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs

October 22 - Michael Kors, Miu Miu

October 29 - Mulberry, Prada

November 5 - Proenza Schouler, Rebecca Minkoff

November 12 - Saint Laurent, Tods

November 19 - Tory Burch, Valentino

November 26 - Bags by Jewelers: Bulgari, Cartier, Tiffany Co, Van Cleef & Arpels. Alternatively, the pillboxes, compacts and other lovelies made by jewelers that fit in your bag.

December 3 - independent artisans and custom bags.

It is was on sale and is not returnable, so I hope I like it when it comes. I do know they have good quality though. Anyway I ended up dropping my LV Toilette 26 off at the consignment shop. I have had it for years and have not worn it. Trying to stick with the one in one out rule for myself. My only exception would be if I was truly over the moon for a bag.

Oh, will be very interested to see which one you get. I believe they have a lifetime warranty on their hardware. Coincidence, too, because I was on Hammitt’s site yesterday after not looking for several months and also saw the bag I once wanted on sale. I remembered that they used to say that they don’t have sales because they wanted the customer to know that the price they paid wasn’t going to suddenly feel like they overpaid once it went on sale, or some wording like that. But I remember them explicitly saying they didn’t have sales. And then I went to their site, and sale, sale, sale. The regular retail price of the medium Daniel seems to have gone up like 20% just since I’ve been looking, so probably just in a year. Maybe in the end, they priced themselves too high.

I think they only put on sale colors they are retiring. I ordered the Medium VIP in Barley Tan. Did you order your Daniel?

Ah, I see. That’s good to know, though, as it looks like even pretty neutral colors get retired. Maybe not black? So if I just wait, I can maybe get it on sale. The color I wanted was gray nubuck. But no, I didn’t order the Daniel. I think I saw it in a review and it’s got no shape at all when not stuffed? In any case, I just ordered a bag, so I had better chill for a bit.

Since I never ordered that gray nubuck medium Daniel, I don’t have any gray bags to show this week. But I am enjoying everyone else’s!

Thank you, I love grey with a blue undertone to it, but I also appreciate a really dark grey like your Mulberry Lily and @dcooney4's Mulberry bags -- such a perfect neutral! In general, I find grey to be a very tranquil color.

Taupe bags can come in so many shades (because of different undertones) that they can be hard to categorize. This petite cutie definitely looks grey on my screen, and the pops of color are lovely.

@baghabitz34, pretty greys, and I really like your grey Priscilla!

@dcooney4, is your grey Mulberry a WOC? I have been interested in one of their WOCs ever since I saw it in a shade called Tomato Red, if I recall correctly. Anyway, it was the perfect shade of red. I hesitated to buy it at that time because I wasn't sure about the capacity. Would love to hear how much fits in your WOC.

I have not used it yet. If I have time later today, I will take some pictures of what fits in it.
