Just like calories consumed on holidays don’t count...

Surely gifts from Mr Dawn on our anniversary (okay, one of our 3 anniversaries**) don’t count towards any kind of quota?! :smartass:

A Smythson notebook in “Live, Love, Laugh” which perfectly matches a little “Live, Love, Laugh” pouch I had from before. I use these little pocketbooks from Smythson as travel diaries.

I will wait to open the Chanel SLG and makeup. We went shopping together, so I know what it is, but I think I’ll defer the pleasure of using these

** Told you we celebrate everything @Sparkletastic :coolio:

That's sort of what it looks like! It is so soft. I love petting it. It is kind of ridiculous looking.

Yes, I have that problem of selling something expensive for peanuts. If I do that, I'll know exactly how much money I lost. I know you are supposed to think of it like you recouped some of your costs. Someone called it the stupid tax, the money you have to pay for your mistakes.

Yeah, I guess that's how it goes  But OMG, your bag is terrific--it is a little ridiculous, but in the best possible way. And carrying it to annoy the DH is hilarious.

I’m the same way re. usage. If I have a bag that I don’t wear much now but has been worn and loved a lot in the past, I won’t get rid of that bag. My problem is bags that I have loved, but don’t wear anymore. I keep thinking I shouldn’t get rid of them because maybe I’ll regret it. At what point do you realize you’ve moved on from a style and it’s time to let go? :confused1:
For me it’s a matter of could I ever see myself choosing bag x when I have these other bags in my closet. If the answer is no, it’s got to go. That’s how I made the decision to give my daughter my pony hair Monkia Chiang bucket. It’s super cute and I still like it. But, I like just about every other bag I have more. So, it didn’t get worn.

That brings up another way I consider rejoining a bag. If I like everything else better and can’t imagine any time (special usage, certain outfits) it can have its own special moment, it’s gotta go.

This is super cute.

And I’m a big believer in the stupid tax.

I know it is time to get rid of a bag when every time I plan to wear it and I grab something else instead. That is where the love it or list challenges helped. It forced me to wear some of them and when I actually wore it I got my answers. Some I fell back in love with and wondered what was wrong with me not wearing it and others were so annoying to wear that I dropped them at the consignment shop.

I completely agree with this!

I think I need to do the love it or list it challenge. Right now my wardrobe space is fine, so I don’t need to cull, but there are still about 4 bags I’d like to edit out because I don’t use them enough.

I really started editing my ‘superbrand’ collection and buying a lot more pieces in 2016. Before that, I had a few superbrands but also a lot of contemporary/indie leather brands.

So, when I bought so many superbrand bags over the course of 2017 and 2018, I did a huge clear out of contemporary / mid designer bags and SLGs. I donated about 20 bags and 20 SLGs to begin with, and then another 7 bags, all in 2018.

So my collection is much better curated, but there are still some pieces I’m not sure of. I think there are about 5 that I’ll consider for donation over the course of the year.

There are a couple I have on my wish list for this year but I’m thinking very slowly. If something comes along and takes my breath away in the interim (like my little pink Prada a couple of weeks ago) then that’s fine, but this is the list I am actively mulling over.

1) Tote. If I donate my MK Jetset Travel tote, I’ll buy the LV Neverfull as a travel tote. I’m not really a tote person, but I think you need one carefree one for options.
2) Party bag. I would like one superbrand party bag - I have my eyes on a YSL WOC but it just feels like a lot to spend on a small item that has very specific & limited use. So I’m still thinking.
3) Black PM. I would like a black Pochette Metis in Empreinte. I really like this style.
4) Chanel mini. I would like one Chanel rectangular mini, but only if a colour that makes my heart sing, in caviar, comes along. I’ll buy that if I get a promotion that I’m working for this year.

Thank you all very much for the good wishes and compliments :hugs:

@Annabel Lee thank you also for complimenting my photography. I’m afraid I don’t know anything about filters and photo editing, but I am a relatively tidy person so I think the main merit of my photographs is that they are tidily framed :biggrin:

I do enjoy taking photos of pretty things. And we travel a lot. My phone photo albums give me a lot of pleasure

This! This is where I struggle. I have this gorgeous Hermes Piano, and the leather is softer than tissue and it smells wonderful ... and I don't really use it anymore and would like to sell it, but the offers I got were so low it's not worth my while. So I still have it.

Also, your fur-trimmed bag sounds amazing. I have visions of a combo bag/muff.

I’d love to see a photo of your Piano bag if you don’t mind. It’s such a beautiful bag and a rare sight, even over on the H forum!

Happy Anniversary! What are the three anniversaries — when you met, when you got engaged, and when you married?
