I completely agree about how super functional the Galleria / Double Zip totes are. The design plus the Saffiano make these bags true work horses. At times I’ve been tempted to get one in black for that very reason.

And, I’m like you. I’ve avoided bag organizers because I didn’t want the extra weight. And, a little because I don’t like the look. I would want to get one that matched the lining of my bag as closely as possible.

On the Prada charm. I don’t see racism in it. The monkey charms were part of a line of bizarre looking animals. At most, I think it may have been a little clueless given past intentionally racist imagery. But, I don’t see intentional racism here. These kinds of things frustrate me. There is real, virulent, devastating racism to be fought. This kind of uproar is a distraction and wearies everyone on the subject.
I agree. It's like the people who pointed it out are just looking for a fight. I'm sure the designers had no intention.

I’ve been lucky in that during the my no purchase period, I received two bags as gifts even though I didn’t request them. But, it was still really tough at times not to buy. :whut:

I had posted earlier about how I don’t find it quite as much fun to be on tPF since I’m not in active buy mode. I first joined because I needed information. Now I’m very knowledgeable about the brands I tend to buy and have enough info in my head about others to know what I’ll like and what I won’t. And, sometimes, I feel a little silly showing the same bags over and over.

But, seeing bags (for the most part) doesn’t really tempt me because I love what I have. So, happily, I don’t feel the need to leave for that reason.

That all being said, I do still get great info that I can use. In fact, my new purchase is a direct result of insight gleaned from really helpful conversations with @Miss_Dawn and @Kendie26.

So, I don’t really visit nearly as many threads and forums as I used to. As much as I love them and am happy for people who get them, how many times can I ooh and aah over another black Chanel flap reveal? Lol! But, my favorite thing is chatting with the girls on this thread. I like seeing everyone talk about what they are doing whether it’s about bags or fashion or just going about living our days. HTH and I hope you stay around and keep the conversation going.

And, whoo hoo on starting your Masters!!! Please share what you get beforehand!!!
Sparkle, what conversation? We have so many! I wanna know what you got! :panic::giggle:

I agree, that’s the problem with bag organisers.

I am a fan of the Galleria, but I think it works best in classic colours - black, beige, red. I wear so much blue and sapphire myself that navy was the right classic neutral for me, but it might not work for everyone. For me, this is very functional.

If you’re not a fan of saffiano though, the best alternative superbrand bag is probably the SDJ. Do you have / have you tried the SDJ?

I love the SJD. But I hate the fact that there’s only one inside pocket, and it’s not even sewn into the bag in a way that it will stay put. I’d HAVE to use an organizer in that bag, and part of me balks against that. One of the things I like most about the Prada is it has functional pockets that work. And isn’t the SDJ significantly heavier than the Galleria?

Also, ever since hearing @Sparkletastic’s nightmare story about Saint Laurent’s customer service, I have been wary of the brand!

Good luck on getting your bags sold. I’ll say a prayer to the purse gods.

I expect to pay for use and depreciation.

I’ve gotten Dior lamb bags soaked in the rain or splattered at dinner and was able to tidy them up like new.) or 10+ year old Chanel (?)

What great white bags have your seen / owned?
Thanks Spark! I do hope purse god will be in my favour and the buyer not to chance her mind but I'll know tomorrow. This will be my last chance to get any bag sold this year.

I had to make a budget for my bag purchases or I'll make more bad choices when buying without enough thought. Less hits allow me to spend more on my future purchase. :girlsigh:In case I see my unicorn but I've already maxed my budget then I have to let it galloping away. :crybaby: I don't have a unicorn in my mind at the moment, though. This year I only had 1 wallet and 3 bags in so I've very happy with the progress.

Glad to hear you've happy lambs in your bag herd. I've one in my sight :graucho: I'll let you know if I manage to snatch this beauty. Diorever looks very nice. I'll definitly consider it if they relase shoulder bag version of it. Now it's either hand held or cross body type.

All my snow white bags have turned to ivorish eventually  therefore I haven't been eyeing any white bags for a while. I've only kept this now ivorish Burberry and sold the rest.

Spark! You've to ooh, aah eeh when I show you my lambie!! ;) Oh well, IF I manage to snatch the lamb I've my eyes on right now. I'll know after Christmas.

My white/off white/cream family
The Dior had some stains but it spent 7 weeks in the Dior spa in Italy last year
Love all your white beauties. Do they charge any fee if you send a bag to their spa?

I have been using my new wallet for a few days now and the layout is wonderful.
Glad you got a new wallet without any desing flaws.

Do you settle for dupes, or end up buying another bag that looks similar to the bag you originally wanted because you couldn't go for the first one (price too high, sold out, some element just wasn't right)?
Your Dooney Valentina looks lovely. Glad it worked out! I've been buying dupes but eventually end up buying the original. Dupes just don't work when we are speaking of the bags but I'm fine with make up dupes.

I totally agree. I don’t think Prada intended any racism here. BUT, I also think companies that survive on image have to be super aware of the possibility of offending people. Especially in today’s environment. Someone at Prada should have seen the way that could be perceived and yanked the design before it was produced.

I agree it’s heavy, but I don’t mind much. I have it in lipstick fuchsia so it is a statement bag for me. I don’t carry it everyday!

I actually had excellent customer service with my SDJ. Mr Dawn gave it to me for my birthday last year. There were small bits of glue residue over the bag, so we called customer services.

There were no bags in lipstick fuchsia left in England, but we were going to Paris for my birthday. CS called up Galeries Lafayette which had multiple pieces in stock, and I took my bag to them in Paris and was allowed to swap it over. Across countries! I examined lots of pieces to pick a perfect one. So no complaints from me!

Yes, because they cleaned and restored all of the leather to a pristine condition. It was classified as some kind of repair. I can’t remember how much it cost but it was not very expensive to my recollection.

They did a fantastic job though - I couldn’t see a single discolouration in the lambskin leather when I got it back. I felt very lucky and happy.

That’s a great story! If I were to buy one, I’d probably get it from the local Neiman’s. The Saint Laurent store near me is awfully snooty.

Sooooo... I bought a bag! :giggle:

Assuming it works out (I’m 90% certain it will) it’ll be my first true bag purchase in 16 months. :faint:

It’s one of my three unicorns so, as soon as I saw it, I ran to get my credit card and buy it. The ironic thing is I wasn’t bag shopping. I was actually looking for stocking stuffers for Mr. S on Fashionphile. Before I closed the page, I decided on a humbug to see if they had any of my unicorns and whoop! :yahoo: they did!

I’ll share pics and more when it comes in. I don’t expect to get it for a week-ish. OMG! I’m excited! :panic:
Oh, finally a new purchase!! I’m excited to find out what bag made you turn away from your hiatus!! Must be something special. [emoji3]
ETA: Happy Birthday dear Spark! Saw your cocktails in another thread. [emoji3]
Hooray!!! A unicorn is the best way to break a bag fast [emoji4]

I had no idea you haven't bought in 16 months! I'm planning on shopping to my heart's content until I go get my master's this September. After that, I'll be going on a real bag ban, as I won't be working full time…if you don't mind me asking, do you still enjoy being on TPF despite not being in the market to buy bags? I'm always wondering what it will be like when I have to seriously restrict my shopping, if I'll find it difficult, if I'll still come on TPF, etc :)
At some point before I also didn’t want to be in a thread that was just about ooh-ing and aah-ing new bags! I’m so glad that I became part of this thread in TPF where I’ve found nice pocket friends. [emoji3] Need not talk just about bags.

I guess there is no reason not to share what it is. It’s not like it isn’t on its way. I’m being silly level cautious. Lol!

I just bought the Diorama Ultra Black Studded WOC:yahoo:
A601E147-E713-4F62-86D6-58C6189CA6BA.jpeg
I’m soooooo excited. This is the bag Mr S. tried to get me to buy but, in the medium size. I said no because felt I didn’t need another black bag. And, even though my YSL Sm Mono Cabas is a very different style, it is black w/ black hardware. So it felt like a lot of money for something that would make my black bag habit worse and not add a lot to my collection. But, I’ve thought about it ever since.

Then @Miss_Dawn showed her Dior WOC and I LOVED it. And we talked about how much it held, etc. which made me even more interested (I have to have function.)

@Kendie26 shared how useful her Chanel WOC is for business and let me ask a ton of questions about that usage.

So... when I saw this WOC version on Fashionphile a month ago, I REALLY wanted it. But I was stupid and waited and someone bought it. I was extra bummed because I went to a black tie event shortly thereafter and it would have been perfect. :crybaby:Then I was hunting on Fashionphile in the middle of the night, LO AND BEHOLD!!!! It was back!!! I thought I was seeing things.

I’m super excited!!! It’s in excellent condition with the box, bag, etc. YIPPEEE!!!

The lack of organization is one of the things that’s kept me from the super pretty SDJ. Also, when it first came out, it was so heavy with the leather lining.

And, yes, the YSL sales teams in TWO cities were completely unhelpful. I refuse to believe it was reasonable to have to wait 2-4 months just to get the hardware and THEN they were still iffy about repair. :annoyed:

Let us know how the sale goes. Fingers crossed.

I forgot most white bags go yellow. I wonder if there is a way to stop that.

I’m all about limiting my purchases too. You and I are going to end up at about the same place. I’ll have 3 bags / 0 SLG’s in this year.

And just FYI - I think all but the largest Diorevers are a shoulder bag. (Image from Google) This is another bag I love but like with the SDJ I’ve heard it’s heavy.E55420D5-82BD-4377-BBA9-7C2620A70EE8.jpeg
And of course I’ll squeal with joy when you get your lambie!!! It’s fun to see my pocket friends add bags that make them joyful. I just don’t need to lurk the Chanel (or any other) thread and see endless reveals. It gets boring after a while. I prefer conversations about wearing, storing, playing with, selling, repairing, gifting, etc. bags vs just the buying moment.

I absolutely agree with you that they need to be sensitive and thoughtful as an image company.

I love to hear stories of good customer service.

I’ve just found the SL store staff to be completely uninterested. It’s like they are all terminally bored. I tried on shoes in the one in Nassau a couple months ago and got no energy. Looked at bags at the one in Dallas this month. Same thing. It’s not motivating at all to buy - especially given my service issues. Which is a shame since I love several of their bags like the SDJ and the LouLou tote.
LV Capucines?
YES! I adore this bag. But again, this is another bag I’ve heard is heavy. Plus it’s arm / hand carry. I just can’t make myself take the plunge.
Oh, finally a new purchase!! I’m excited to find out what bag made you turn away from your hiatus!! Must be something special. [emoji3]

It's beautiful! Absolutely elegant design. I especially love that it's black leather with black hardware.

I sometimes think about carrying a WOC and will be interested to hear how you plan to use yours. On weekends? In the evenings? Formal or informal? addition to a full-sized bag, or instead of?

Thanks for the compliment on the bag. I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

I have been really resistant to getting a WOC - mainly because I always wear sunglasses and need my bag to have room for them.

But, being on tPF has given me insight on how a WOC could really work for me. I plan to wear it to work inside a larger laptop bag. That way I’m only carrying one bag (with the WOC inside) instead of many times schlepping two. If this works well, I can see myself getting more WOC’s for variety. (And, it will solve my “I don’t like work bags” issue.)

I also plan to use this as a going out / cocktails / evening bag. I could have happily worn this with the gown I had on a few weeks ago (gold with black beading on one hip).

But, I don’t see myself using this as a day bag. I really need my sunglasses and even if it’s a cloudy / rainy day where I don’t just have to have a pair, I don’t want to have to wrestle with fitting the rest of my things into a tiny bag.

This is more rectangular (v. square) than most. I’m curious to see how that works out.

(I have found stocking stuffers for Mr. S. and my kids but, not on Fashionphile. Lol!)
