2018 resolution - shopping my own bag and wallet collection. Any one else?

I cut out the middle section! It used to be like this. But it used to be a bucket in a bucket! Now it's just the shell.

Wow! That’s a goofy design. I’d never usually go along with modifying a bag but this one screamed for it.

You are so brave! I wonder why they put that inside anyway. It looks much more useful the way it is now. What did you use to cut it with? Is there anything you can do with the leftover leather?

Same questions I had. I wonder if the leftover leather could be made into a matching wallet or card holder?

I usually don’t buy dupes. I know once I want the original, nothing else will satisfy me. BUT, I do have an Anya Hindmarch Ebury that I’ll probably never get rid of. It is basically that designer’s version of the Prada Galleria tote. The irony is, the Ebury existed first — apparently, it “inspired” the Prada Saf Lux totes. Anyway, I got my Ebury about 5 years ago, partly because the Galleria bags were everywhere and while I loved the style, I wanted something less conspicuous. The Ebury is goatskin and came with two straps — a black one that matches the bag, and a green one for contrast. I love the feel of chèvre over the saffiano leather, although the bag has lost some structure over the years. I wish Anya Hindmarch still made this model — I would have probably gotten another in a different color.

I really love goat leather and want another goatskin bag in my collection. More brands should use the material.

I have been using my new wallet for a few days now and the layout is wonderful. The color does not give me a thrill like the blue and red did but I also didn't grab it to use right away like I did this one. It is big enough for all my holiday needs and yet still fits in most of my smaller bags and because it is a neutral color goes with them beautifully. Who knew!
Did you ever buy a bag or wallet that was your second choice and it turned out better for you than you thought?

Did you ever buy a bag or wallet that was your second choice and it turned out better for you than you thought?

Yes! I bought my YSL monogramme Cabas as my perfect black bag and loved it. Then the handles exploded. So I bought the Fendi BTW as a replacement. It doesn’t have the style of the YSL but it’s more functional and easy to wear.

Then I also bought my Jimmy Choo hobo to have a back up black bag. I don’t typically like hobos and thought it would have limited usage. We, as you all know, I wear the heck out of that bag too! It’s one of my largest bags and it’s so easy to wear.

So each of my follow up “functional” black bags were huge winners. And, since I sent my YSL off to Leather Surgeons (since YSL refused to be helpful) I’ve been able to enjoy my first choice too!

I have a sewing room with some fantastically sharp shears on the table so I just grabbed them and carefully cut out the middle bag. You can only notice where it’s been cut out if you know where to look and are looking specifically close at it. I happen to have white edge dye so I will next actually dye over the shorn leather edge parts so that it’s truly like new looking even if peering up close.
I’m so psyched it’s lighter and more functional, it’s such such nice leather and hardware and I actually like the bucket design and I am So NOT a bucket bag person. So this will be my only bucket ever most likely. But there was not enough leather to do much with it, but I haven’t given it so much thought so....maybe I’ll come up with something! I haven’t sewn leather in years so I doubt I’ll get back into it. Maybe I could bring it to a cobbler. At the very least I should save the rainbow hardware, that stuff is expensive and I might want to someday take it to a cobbler and have them used on another project.

Sooooo... I bought a bag!

Assuming it works out (I’m 90% certain it will) it’ll be my first true bag purchase in 16 months.

It’s one of my three unicorns so, as soon as I saw it, I ran to get my credit card and buy it. The ironic thing is I wasn’t bag shopping. I was actually looking for stocking stuffers for Mr. S on Fashionphile. Before I closed the page, I decided on a humbug to see if they had any of my unicorns and whoop! they did!

I’ll share pics and more when it comes in. I don’t expect to get it for a week-ish. OMG! I’m excited!

I have on occasion been known to carry multiple perfumes. I love perfume. I spritz continually through the day
I wear Dune occasionally but when I’m in the mood, there’s nothing like it!
