So I've been making my way up the east coast on vacation, and back in my hometown, I took my mother to a local antiques mall to browse. What do I find that I've always wanted? A vintage Coach Willis, made in the United States, in navy and in almost new condition! What really blew me away was the price- $17.50 I couldn't believe it! 20180702_152109.jpg

Boo, I want to meet any of y'all!

@catsinthebag it looks like next summer we will all be in Boston, staying with my girlfriend in Cambridge for a few days en route to Hawaii and en route home so we need to definitely hang out next year!

As for the black Delices..... Why oh why does it need to be there?!

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/273333190484

Please someone buy it. There's another one on eBay for 1070 and a pink one for 1700 but this buyer will take anything over $500, and someone here needs to get it! Great great great price! For an amazing purse.

I just think an all black leather bag is not my thing and I'm hesitant about multiples being a dangerous slippery slope to a collection bigger than I want it to be. Or put another way, having a strict rule against multiples is a good start to help limit my collection from getting out of control. Right now the only multiple I have is MM midi Selene in chocolate/gold with zippered top and plum/dark gunmetal with open top/cinching feature. They seem so different in form and function, though, so I am at peace with it. But in this case....

Besides ....there is another bag in my future. I haven't owned a Chanel in the seven years since I sold my 2 flaps off, when I was a struggling single mom, but it might be that my first Chanel since 2011 is heading my way. ;)

If you’re in Boston, definitely let me know!

I might be tempted by the Delices if it had silver HW. I already have a couple of black bags wth GHW, and I usually prefer silver.

Oooh, a Chanel coming? Do tell!

Day two in this cheerful one.
Im glad you have a red bag you love. I think red bags are amazing neutrals! And you’re right. It’s just in time for Independece Day!
At least it is gone.
True!

I know, right? It had a price tag of $35 and even that is a bargain. But when we went up to the register and the woman tells me that it was half off, my jaw dropped!
Oh wow!!!! This is a great find. I soooo kick myself for getting rid of my vintage Coach bags.

Did you buy this lovely?

I went to the mall with Mr. S and the kiddos and looked at a couple of bags (recall I’m in my hometown so shopping is not so great.) Nothing excited me.

I was fairly half heartedly considering a bag when Mr. S declared that I should stop considering bags completely. :wtf:

He feels I’m doing this backwards - “hunting” for something to buy vs seeing something I love and then running to buy it. Further, he feels I’m self defeating by being too cheap to buy what I want but having desires and standards that won’t let me easily settle for a “deal”. So, he said I should just let myself buy whatever I truly love (that I will also actively use) and just limit it to a few bags a year so I don’t get freaked out about owning too many bags or get massive, unfounded (Catholic girl) budget guilt.

:whut:

:frown:

:blah:

I declared him a minion of Beelzebub and thought vigorously about burying him to his neck in a fire ant hill.

Ok. So...look. He may be right but, did he
have to call me out like that? :roflmfao:

He asked me what bags I genuinely love right now without any overanalyzing and they are: Chanel black lamb sf jumbo, Fendi pink pearl Mon Tresor, Bal City Edge, Chanel iridescent green M/L, Strathberry green tote, Gucci velvet anything and my unicorn, the black Miss Dior w/ghw.

So then he asked why I wouldn’t get one of those. I said because I neeeeed a black tote. For some reason he doesn’t feel I neeeeed a black tote but some other bag that will function in that way and that searching for a tote doesn’t preclude me from getting something else in the interim. :oh:

Sheesh! Applying logic to bag acquisition??? What is wrong with the man. LOL! I’m going to agree partially, however, I need to sit still. I’ll just admire what you ladies are doing til “the” bag appears. LOL!
I hope this does not come off the wrong way. I think you are "overanalyzing" because you do not want a repeat of the accumulating frenzy you went through years ago. Some sort of trauma, maybe? But maybe it is also time to enjoy bag shopping. As Mr. Sparkle said, let "the" bag appear. Or, my own is this - let bags you like be in your collection. I no longer think of forever bags when buying. Just lovely bags that I will use for a few years and will enjoy doing so. I consider them sunk cost, so recouping is not a big part of the equation. This is just me.

And maybe, also, you have so many nice pieces already from high end brands (Chanel, Dior to name a few) that your bar has gone up. Maybe it will be H that will truly satisfy you at this point? Though I'm not pushing you really, just thinking out loud. Btw, on your other post about the Lou Lou. I can't recall if I expressed it in this thread, but when I saw that bag IRL I really felt it could be the tote you're looking for. I would like to have that tote for me! So pretty! But aside from the price, it's a bit too flashy for work for me. I want to be able to use my bags for daily wear (i.e., work). Going back, then you said you're meh about it. That made me think that you might have reached your threshold for a certain level of premiere. Maybe you're ready for the next level?

I have a few minutes last night to sit down and keep track and what I did this year so far. Very interesting that at first, I thought I already blew my quota of one bag a month long while ago. But in fact, with all the giving and gifting this month, I actually manage to stay within the quota. I don’t know how I manage this. Must be the subconscious guilt or something, but anyway, so far so good, I’m still within limit.

The most interesting thing which happened this year and I don’t think I mentioned here was that now I carry 2 wallets. The Marni trunk bag is the culprit and although it sounds fuzzy, it’s ok for me. I’ve been doing it for 2 months already. Now, I’m using a Chanel classic flat pouch as my main wallet for bills and coins and my credit cards, ATM, and DD school pass (total of 4) and a Viera by Ragazze flat wallet for other cards and receipts. I actually went over board on SLG this year coz I bought 3 wallets this year. (The Chanel small compact wallet I bought during my Hong Kong trip doesn’t work for me.) But I’m happy more with the combo I have now. The flat wallet shows every cards I have and just make it so easy to find things. And I like my pink Chanel. So, I’m set. [emoji4]

Your DH is right. Just stop and get what you like. That damn tote will show up one day.

That's nice to be within quota!!

On wallets, I'm actually looking for flat pouches that would serve as my wallet. If it was your Marni Trunk for you, it's my BV Pillow for me. My wallet eats up space inside that small bag! Plus, there is also the weight even if the wallet does not hold much except bills and cards. Debating with myself on a lot of choices for this one.
