Hi everyone ... I haven’t shown up since the end of the first quarter, trying my best to use my herd and resist temptation. I hope you all are well and enjoying these months. I do lurk in the discussions.

Here’s my Jan-June update:

Bags out ... 7
Bags in ..... 3

I’m gradually parting with bags I don’t like quite enough, or that don’t really work for their supposed use.

My three bags ‘in’ haven’t caused much damage. I replaced the Coach Court Bag that I gave to my daughter with one in dark green, from eBay. I couldn’t live without a Court. Then, inspired by my Longchamp Neo in Black, which was so successful as my go-to storm bag during our weekly Nor’easters in March, I decided to get a small Neo in a lighter color, I would call it champagne though Longchamp calls it gold, for the warm weather. So far I’m ‘meh’ about this bag and I’m not sure it will stay with me though it does no harm. Couldn’t get the pic to insert right here.

Finally, I brought in a BV pillow or nodini bag in BV’s striated dark metallic silver (I forget the exact name) bought on eBay from a tPF member. This bag was a planned purchase to wear with my black coats in the winter; it was only a question of whether I’d have to go retail or if I could find a reseller I trusted. Voila...I got very lucky.
I haven’t photographed this one but it’s well known.

For the second half of the year, I’d like to find a BV, the classic Veneta Hobo, in one of the colors I’ve been searching for.

Then DH, my mom and I have a running QELizabeth II thread among us. My mom is exactly her age and LOVES her ...feels like they have shared the same lives because they’ve lived through the same world changes and so few of that particular generation remain, but SHE remains. So DH wants to give me, for our 33rd anniversary (today!!) a Launer Bag. He thinks it would be an amazing way to involve my mom ... he participates ... I will have a favorite gift and the whole thing can be thumbs up and a hoot. I agree with all that. It would certainly be a lifetime keeper and/but I just have to “see” it as a tad less staid, just a little, which perhaps I can do through the myriad of color combos they offer. I do like it’s strong and simple shape and it’s pretty hardware, and they make the classic Q Elizabeth bag with a shoulder strap. I’m taking a deep breath right now on this one.

Thanks for indulging my lengthy update. Hope to get back here often now that I’ve proven(to myself) that I can be good for 1/2 a year:). Cheers!

No artistic ability. But if so, this would have been a great idea!
I like all of these! (Although she’s more tequila shots than fine wine. LOL!) I wonder if I could get her to wear Tiffany’s if I stay with silver.
Jazz Festival - that’s a great idea! That is the only music genre we both enjoy. I completely forgot!

Lol! on how are we friends. We don’t agree on out frosting but have the same cake because we have the same values. So, if one of us has to make a decision or is hurting, we speak the same language and can be there for each other as a sounding board, advisor, accountability partner, etc.

Also, being so different makes things extremely interesting. She tends to date actors / artists so I’m always hearing about the technical aspects of art which I otherwise wouldn’t. I share info on business which she uses in her career. She is childless so she is always getting into something new which pushed my boundaries to try things (like rock climbing or salsa dancing). I have children and she’s enjoyed being an “auntie”. And, we love giggling at each other’s fashion choices. I’ve laughed til I cried when I’ve see her latest self created cocktail / club outfit. And, she regularly guffaws at me being “hoodwinked” yet again into spending 4 figures on fussy foolishness (handbags) that she swears cost $9.99 to make. So for the 23 years we’ve shared a lot of insight, support and fun we would have lost staying in our lanes.
Gosh, yes. I think you’re right. I can’t keep thinking of it. I just always need it when I need it which drives me buggy.

Thanks for the well wishes on the surgery!
Thanks for the get well!

She wouldn’t wear Pandora but it’s a great idea for someone else in the future!!!

Same cake, different frosting — I love that! And understand it, too — when you first said you were different in every way, I thought you also meant values. Now I see what you mean. She sounds like a great friend!

On repeat. so again

Bags
0 in
0 out

I narrowed down some bag possibilities to 3 (from 4). This includes the Python Rebelle that has just come in at Gucci. I'd like another smart-casual take anywhere shoulder bag.

SLG
0 iin
0 out
BUT I do have an Asprey jewellery case put away

Lets not talk jewellery or scarves I bought 2 pair of earrings and a twilly. I may have to change the (Gucci) twilly because it's not quite long enough.

I’m on repeat as well.

0 in, out for both bags and SLGs. I did by a fabulous silk scarf/shawl at Ouimillie this week. And a relatively inexpensive pair of silver hoop earrings. My project-in-waiting is to go through my H scarves and shawls, weed out the ones I no longer wear, and send pics to consignment to see what they may bring.

Seven bags out — that’s fantastic!

I love the idea of the Launer bag and how it ties in with your mom. Color can make a huge difference with a bag style that may otherwise look a little staid. Tying on a bright scarf can help too. I love small structured bags in bright colors, just have to get comfortable working them into my wardrobe (not to mention downsizing).

How exciting! So glad to have you back.

I have been doing OK. This month one scarf out, one in. One bag out, one in (about a minute ago I bought this wicker bag which a friend just posted in Scarf of the Day LOL)
ava_f0125131915_wicker_3.jpg

And for the first half of 2018, I bought one scarf more than I sold, and I bought one bag more than I sold, so no celebrating. I hope to reverse that in the second half!
What an adorable bag, momasaurus! So perfect for summertime.
I saw it when she posted the picture in the SOTD thread, but I had no idea what it was... or that it was still available for purchase. What brand is it, if I may ask? Is it Hermès?

Nice to see you here, westvillage. Oh, how perfectly exciting to get a Launer bag. I considered one a few years ago (because... Her Majesty!), but could never make up my mind about color. It will be so interesting to see which one you choose. They are so well made and stylish. They remind me of the H Kelly bag, except a little easier to get into because they don't have those straps going across.

And HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!!! :heart::heart::heart:

Make the choice based on desire, then practicality then look at the prices. Now check the order.

Ladies, this thread moves too quickly for me  I lurk! I saw @Sparkletastic 's tote question and thought I'd throw in a few suggestions.

First the collage.
Prada Vernice Promenade? Here's mine in turquoise.
Prada Galleria medium? Here's mine in Bluette.
Burberry Banner medium? Here's mine in Thistle Grey.
Sac de Jour small? Here's mine in Lipstick Fuchsia.
Givenchy Antigona Small or Medium? Here's my small in Black.
YSL Cabas Monogram? Here's mine in Dove White.

I actually made this collage for another thread where someone was asking for work bag recommendations. I think all of these would fit your requirement of being a large-ish size but not all of them would work for a laptop (since you said you don't need to carry that on days you're carrying this bag).

Alternatively if you want something really casual, I use this Aspinal of London bag (second picture) as a document tote bag. It gets abused on a daily basis as I carry it casually as a secondary bag that sits on the floor etc as I commute (I wouldn't dream of putting my "hand"bags on the floor!)

The Aspinal was an impulse purchase by Mr Dawn. I had a no name leather tote I was carrying for rough use and he saw this and bought it along with a bunch of pouches/SLGs to organise my "rough" things. How many matching pouches does the man think I need?:giggle:
