Just curious, what styles from LV do you consider edgy? I like some LV styles, but am having trouble seeing them as edgy.

I was specifically thinking of LVxSupreme, which was an “edgy” collaboration that people went nuts for. But it can also apply to their more avante garde/weird/out-there stuff like their Kabuki theme and whatever Jeff Koons does. You can get those or you can get your classic “vanilla” NF, speedy, Noe, Alma. That’s what I wish Dior would have.

They now have the Diorama WOC, if I remember it right. They seems to like to put all the eggs in one basket and don’t have the patient for the next day.

This. It’s weird that they discontinued the Promenade woc. There are people in the Dior forum asking where they can still buy it, obviously the demand is still there. The Diorama doesn’t do it for me.

Have a great yard sale tomorrow! Hope you sell everything!

Ah, I see. I think our definitions of “edgy” are slightly different. To me, edgy can mean avante garde, but more than that, it implies a bit of a dark side — studs, black hardware, that sort of thing. Rocker/goth/biker, etc. I think of the classic Balenciaga moto bags as edgy, but not the Jeff Koons LV line. The Koons stuff is limited edition (so therefore not the “vanilla” LVs you mention), but I can’t see Monet water lillies as edgy no matter the format.

It is interesting how different words mean different things to each of us. :flowers:

I agree with you on custom. It requires more time to decide, and also there’s a waiting period while the item gets made, so you can’t have an immediate gratification mentality going in. I have a couple of custom le Pliages, and the quality feels better on them than the ones I bought in the store.

Re. wishlist, well, with all this Dior talk, I walked into my local boutique yesterday. In over 10 years of living here, I don’t think I’ve ever been in. Not sure why, probably I was simply preoccupied with other brands. OMG. What a stunning product. I thought I’d look at the Diorama, but ended up smitten with the all black Lady Dior. I never wanted a LD, finding it pretty but too sweet and ladylike, but this version, with black hardware and studs, is right up my alley. I have to say, I am totally taken by this bag. Gotta seriously water and fertilize my money tree.

Anyone here have a Lady Dior? How has it held up?

I've ever had a LD but I think they look great dressing up casual or very smart and lady-like.

I like your reason about going custom route, considering your purchasing behavior.

I don’t think I have anything at the moment that reach the point of wish list or should buy next.

I like the Chanel vanity bag since it first came out. I used to have a PVC bag with outside aluminum structure that look exactly that same shape when I was young and I love that bag. I used it until the PVC part died on me. I guess that’s why I’m attracted to this bag. But it’s not at the level that I should check it out, try it on, and consider buying one.

And I like this bag from a local designer.

I tried it on at their store already, but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I feel like I buy too much over my quota with MM before I went to their shop so I’m thinking hard. And I’m not sure it can fits all my crap. My daily stuff, no problem. But some other crap? Not so sure. And I tend to carry a lot this time of the year due to meetings so any bags that can hold a folder is a plus and I’m happy with my MM Juliet so... but it’s from a local brand. I may get it one day within this year.

I’m curious about LC Madeline. I may check it out. I actually first like the Mademoiselle, but I felt underwhelmed when I check it out. Maybe coz o already have too many flaps. But this one is growing on me.

And there’s another canvas tote from a local very small brand. The owner just release a new size and shape with lighter weight. The price is nice, too, consider their good quality. But since I already bought too much, this will have to wait. I may or may not even get it.

These are bags on my radar now.

This is a very cute and cool bag

Tomorrow, DD’s school will have their first ever yard sale and we decided to buy a spot as a seller. We’ll mostly sell her outgrown clothes since she’s too attached to her toys [emoji28] and books that I bought only to find out later that we already got it. [emoji28] (and I thought I have good memory about books. [emoji28])

Playing merchant can be fun until I realize I don’t have a bag for it! I only have bags suit for going to work here. Nothing for play. Finally, I remember I have this bag I kept in my closet bought more than 9 years ago and decide to pull it out. [emoji16] I bought this bag during my visit to Chinatown years ago when I haven’t married yet and on a whim, wanted to dress like a preteen or something. Must be an early midlife crisis. [emoji16] I actually use it for a while for I find the compartments nice enough and easy to use. I still remember there’s another one at the shop that I like more, but didn’t get because it’s too cartoony or maybe doesn’t have the right compartment for me. [emoji16] Despite being made of PVC and just get starch in a closet piled under so many things, it still look good. I won’t say it look as good as new, but still in a very great condition despite what it’s been through. Come to think about it, many of my brandname bags got treated much much better than this bag, but at the end of their even much short life, look so ratty and be ready to get thrown out. (Yes. A fabric tri-color Chanel flap from years ago got discoloring just from storage and Bal in some lighter colors.)

I just think that quality can be everywhere and even a cheap material and cheap bag can actually withstand the time, too. [emoji4] So, yes. Tomorrow, I’m taking this bag to play merchant at the school. [emoji16][emoji16][emoji16]

Oh, I see! Yes, I think edgy has a different interpretation when describing fashion and then in a wider context. I see what you mean now about edgy style being studs and black leather. My definition refers to a style that deliberately pushes the envelope, so it can be biker chic and also streetwear, graffiti, etc. And you can also apply it to filmmaking, theatre, and art.

I wouldn’t call the Jeff Koons stuff edgy or avant-garde really either, it’s just plain ugly and disrespectful to the artists. Lol. So maybe I shouldn’t have mentioned him. But Supreme definitely is, because it’s a streetwear brand that went from underground to cult status.

So linking it back to Dior, I wish they would market this edgy studded stuff as a separate line instead of discontinuing the classics and leaving us no choice, because they are alienating customers like us who like the “vanilla” stuff!

This is a fun discussion. I’m enjoying it!
