You got it right the second time. But my sons are trilingual and you just hit all 3 of their mother tongues in that post.
That's so neat they speak all 3! I edited to add Suomea when I remembered your beautiful scarves and could picture them there for some reason. I can't believe you are leaving there during the gorgeous summer and long days of light.

Well it was fifties and raining yesterday. I've had quite a few nice weeks of weather in may and June and my mom is more important! We will be back for August so maybe we will get lucky and autumn won't arrive on the second week of August as usual.

I despise this strategy.

Because the models don’t get to iconic status, (except for the LD and maaaaaaaybe the Diorama some day) resell for Dior bags is awful. But, that could be ok for me because I love the ones I have so much I’ll use and keep them.

The real issue is exactly what you said, I need time to think about a bag. I am not going to run out and buy anything as soon as it’s released. And I’m growing weary of preloved items. So it makes it hard to swoop in and grab a Dior.

But? Honestly? I hate the current designers changes to the bags. They have lost a bit of the feminine aesthetic in favor of a grittier vibe. I love rocker chic but, IMHO, it doesn’t work at all on Dior.
No black. You have black bags. Get something fun!

I agree with this so much (and like Vink, I preferred Raf). I don’t know why they discontinue models like the Granville, which is so versatile with its crossbody style, and they have nothing like that anymore. And then they discontinued the shopper totes and have no classic shoppers anymore. And then they discontinued the Miss Diors so you can’t even get the woc anymore... LV does it so much better, the way they market the edgier stuff.

Thanks! I was a tough decision to sell that particular bag as I still really liked it. I only wore it a total of four times in the last three years so I decided it was time.
Hi dc, that certainly does sound like a tough decision. I applaud your resolve in making that type of decision to edit your collection, much more challenging than getting rid of a bag that has a functional issue.

Just curious, what styles from LV do you consider edgy? I like some LV styles, but am having trouble seeing them as edgy.

Ha ha, I just posted asking about Dior bags, then scrolled up and realized I missed your post! Funny because I love the added edge in Dior. Have to say I hate the overt monograms, but that seems to be a trend across the board right now. Bletch. :yucky:
The added edge definitely doesn’t work for me. I saw one bag on tpf that was studded to within and inch of its life. It just didn’t work.

I’m missing Rafe like crazy.
My department surprised me with these on my birthday the other day, so sweet of them!!!

This is sooooo nice! You are certainly loved!!!! Not surprising as you’re loved here too. Happy B Day!
You prefer the former designer, Raf Simon, just like me. But I can see why other Dior fans love this current one. She has the same flair like Galliano’s, IMHO.
Yes! race hit the bullseye of my personal taste. The current one lost me with the large 80’s rap style logos. :annoyed: I can see Run DMC carrying some of these bags. Blech!
But Hermes only did that with colors, I believe. (?) The bag itself stays. Same with Bal. But Dior, some seasons, will release lots of designs and discontinues the design and the bag itself, too, just after that season. And Hermes has been doing it long enough for the design to sink in and therefore, the fans know. I think Dior try to copy the strategy from Chanel. Only LD stays. Just like CF and reissue. But their designs can be very wacky and one or two step behind other brands. I’m not saying Karl is a better designer, but some of his seasonal pieces are practical and wearable and sometimes, they build on that and carryon or another season. And their pricing strategy is extremely clever. Most of Dior designs are quite niche to me. And when they release something that’s wearable and practical, they’re asking for arms and a leg. Then, discontinued it too soon. I paid for my old model Miss Dior full price from the boutique at about the same as lady Dior. They said this will become their own classic flap. I like the design although the chain isn’t as versatile as Chanel’s. You have to choose the length you want before commit since it’s fixed. They only offer short or long. Then, after a couple of years, or seasons? They changed the design. I don’t like this new design at all. Spark loves it though. The whole aesthetics are totally different. Then, after a couple seasons, discontinued that, too. Then, they release Diorrama, which as much as I like Dior, is quite a copy or inspired by Chanel’s Boy bag. It’s a mess for me. I really wish them to keep Diorrissimo and Dune. These two are practical and has potential. But never get marketed enough and they keep changing the sizes for Diorrissimo and charging as much as for LD. The Dune only has its spot on a runway and then on shop floor for one season with an ombré colors only. No solid or practical colors offered. And the wacky ones rule them all. I’m pretty sad for them. Maybe coz these are the ones I like. [emoji20][emoji20][emoji20]
I agree with every point you’d made.

The core of the issue is they change styles every 5 minutes. Changing colors, materials or even a feature is one thing. But completely new bags every season???

I was so hoping that Dior would get a great shopper / tote to replace the soft tote. But nope. Lots of flap bags and shoulder bags. I don’t get their line up right now. I’m praying they change designers soon.

With Dior going a direction I hate, Gucci also going through a weird (to me) phase and me feeling pretty much “good” on Chanels and not wanting anything but the older single flaps, I don’t have a home anymore. LOL! :crybaby: I really like the very few I’ve mentioned lately but, still nothing it’s pull the trigger worthy. And, I’m just not overly excited about any brands line up of bags right now. :frown:

They now have the Diorama WOC, if I remember it right. They seems to like to put all the eggs in one basket and don’t have the patient for the next day.

I lost hope on Dior after they discontinued Diorissimo. That bag is a very classy bag/tote/crossbody and has so much potential. They treat it as a super classic, not a seasonal and discontinued it size by size. Chanel, at least, make their classics really classic by price, positioning and everything. Dior treat their bags with different position, but same price level whether it’s seasonal or not and then just cut it out as they see fit, which is very soon and super fast. I don’t get the criteria.

Tomorrow, DD’s school will have their first ever yard sale and we decided to buy a spot as a seller. We’ll mostly sell her outgrown clothes since she’s too attached to her toys [emoji28] and books that I bought only to find out later that we already got it. [emoji28] (and I thought I have good memory about books. [emoji28])

Playing merchant can be fun until I realize I don’t have a bag for it! I only have bags suit for going to work here. Nothing for play. Finally, I remember I have this bag I kept in my closet bought more than 9 years ago and decide to pull it out. [emoji16] I bought this bag during my visit to Chinatown years ago when I haven’t married yet and on a whim, wanted to dress like a preteen or something. Must be an early midlife crisis. [emoji16] I actually use it for a while for I find the compartments nice enough and easy to use. I still remember there’s another one at the shop that I like more, but didn’t get because it’s too cartoony or maybe doesn’t have the right compartment for me. [emoji16] Despite being made of PVC and just get starch in a closet piled under so many things, it still look good. I won’t say it look as good as new, but still in a very great condition despite what it’s been through. Come to think about it, many of my brandname bags got treated much much better than this bag, but at the end of their even much short life, look so ratty and be ready to get thrown out. (Yes. A fabric tri-color Chanel flap from years ago got discoloring just from storage and Bal in some lighter colors.)

I just think that quality can be everywhere and even a cheap material and cheap bag can actually withstand the time, too. [emoji4] So, yes. Tomorrow, I’m taking this bag to play merchant at the school. [emoji16][emoji16][emoji16]
