love the larger rock stud as well.

And why in the world does Dior change styles so often???? It’s maddening because I never get a bag the first season. I have to warm up to it and evaluate it.

My guess: small quantity of production then sell them all off. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. You have to hunt it as soon as it comes out. And hopefully with the rarity, the resell price will be higher and you have the illusion of it being very exclusive.
But in the world where things can be forgotten so soon, I don’t think it works anymore.
May work for hard core Dior fans with plenty of money to spare. I can’t do that. I need some time to think. And more often, the model I like is already gone by the time I decide I want to buy it.
Plus, the fact that they change style too often makes their bags never become a classic. People can even identify how old it is.
I don’t like this strategy.

So far my wishlist is a world tour Neverfull, now I want a custom Le Pliage to match my Longchamp suitcase.

I think I’m going to stay on the custom route, going custom requires a lot of thought before making a purchase.

Anyone have any wishlist items they want to share?
It is not a crazy expensive item but I want an Mz Wallace bag with silver hardware that zips closed. I want something in a funky color for me but still wearable. I am considering red/ carmine or blue camouflage or very dark purple. Or play it safe and get black.

I despise this strategy.

Because the models don’t get to iconic status, (except for the LD and maaaaaaaybe the Diorama some day) resell for Dior bags is awful. But, that could be ok for me because I love the ones I have so much I’ll use and keep them.

The real issue is exactly what you said, I need time to think about a bag. I am not going to run out and buy anything as soon as it’s released. And I’m growing weary of preloved items. So it makes it hard to swoop in and grab a Dior.

But? Honestly? I hate the current designers changes to the bags. They have lost a bit of the feminine aesthetic in favor of a grittier vibe. I love rocker chic but, IMHO, it doesn’t work at all on Dior.

No black. You have black bags. Get something fun!

Hermès has made a fortune using the “once it’s gone, it’s gone” strategy. Many of the bags are considered classic, but the most coveted bags are coveted because they are rare, and so many colors are seasonal, it creates a “don’t think, just get it now while you can” mentality. The same goes for the scarves: If you want this design, in this colorway, you better get it now or either never see it again or pay insane reseller prices.

I’m not sure this will work long term for Valentino or any other designer, but it’s a strategy that Hermes has absolutely perfected.

I love a lot of what Hermes makes, but I am glad I’ve taken a step back from the brand right now.

I agree with you on custom. It requires more time to decide, and also there’s a waiting period while the item gets made, so you can’t have an immediate gratification mentality going in. I have a couple of custom le Pliages, and the quality feels better on them than the ones I bought in the store.

Re. wishlist, well, with all this Dior talk, I walked into my local boutique yesterday. In over 10 years of living here, I don’t think I’ve ever been in. Not sure why, probably I was simply preoccupied with other brands. OMG. What a stunning product. I thought I’d look at the Diorama, but ended up smitten with the all black Lady Dior. I never wanted a LD, finding it pretty but too sweet and ladylike, but this version, with black hardware and studs, is right up my alley. I have to say, I am totally taken by this bag. Gotta seriously water and fertilize my money tree.

Anyone here have a Lady Dior? How has it held up?

I don’t think I knew MZ Wallace came with silver zippers. All the ones I’ve seen IRL here have been gold. I think a dark, eggplant-y purple would be great.

Ha ha, I just posted asking about Dior bags, then scrolled up and realized I missed your post! Funny because I love the added edge in Dior. Have to say I hate the overt monograms, but that seems to be a trend across the board right now. Bletch. :yucky:

A lot of companies do this with color and styles.
