Wow, I just read your post about the eye surgery — I’d be grumpy as a grizzly in a girdle too! (and BTW, I am totally stealing that phrase!). Is there no one who can do the necessary fix locally?

Hmm, come to think of it, after all the surgeries you’ve endured lately, maybe a pink lizard sparkly Lady Dior bag is just what you need!
Feel free to steal the phrase. I stole it from my granny. LOL!

The technology is a rare one. Few doctors do it and fewer are expert. So since I was going to be in the state that weekend anyway, it made sense to just let my original surgeon fix it. Although, I did try to find a local solution. I went to the local doctor that was supposed to be leading edge and he didn’t even know what he was looking at. :annoyed: I can’t see out of my eye, it’s blood red and painful so I’m not wasting any more time or risking an also ran doing the surgery. Better safe than sorry!

I’m going back to my home state for 8 days. :crybaby: I hate it there. It’s boring beyond belief. But, at least it’s July so it won’t be cold and, I’ll get to visit family and friends so, I guess it will be bearable.

I had planned to go for the weekend but extended the trip because I need to have eye surgery. I have an artificial lens embedded in one of my eyes (along with a scheral buckle and some other medical intervention along they way - 4 surgeries total on just the one eye. More on the other.)

Anyway, I decided to switch all my hangers to wooden (from cheapy plastic) and hit myself in the eye with one of them. Who does that?!? Of course, it couldn’t hit me in the nose or cheek. Nope. It had to hit the bullseye of the teeny space of the lens. Sheesh. :hrmm:

I’m grateful it didn’t damage me or the lens and my doctor assured me that he can reattach it to my iris. No expected issues with my cornea. But, grrrrrr!

This means I will have had 3 surgeries in 60 days. For a person who rarely gets sick this is ridiculous. :annoyed: I’ve been grumpy as a grizzly bear in a girdle. I told Mr. Sparkle that we need to start a new tradition of the Post Surgery Bag Presentation. So, he’s gonna owe me three. [emoji38] He needs to get crack-a-lacking!

I’m trying to decide what bags to pack. We arrive Tue to my hometown for the surgery consult. Surgery on Wed. Then we’re driving across state for Friday dinner with friends and a Saturday bday party for another friend. Sunday we drive back across state to arrive once again in my hometown for Sunday family dinner, Monday bday dinner for a different family member then flying out Tuesday. :whut:

This is the first time I will travel and desperately want to stay in sweat pants and a baggy t shirt the whole time. LOL! With a recovering knee, broken toe, wacko foot and half blind eye, I am sooooo not feeling like dressing up or being social. But, family and friends are important. :-s

But, I’m definitely grumpy like a grizzly in a girdle. [emoji38] I think I need to take my favorite bags to bring some happy.
Oh no! All the best with the surgeries, hope all goes well!

I’m glad you said that about the Jeff Koons line — I don’t like it either, but didn’t want to say so and offend you. But they do remind me of the tote bags you can buy at museum stores, NOT the image a luxury brand wants in their customers heads!

I have a lot to learn about Dior. So far, there are just a couple of bags I really love: the all-black Lady Dior and @Sparkletastic’s silver Diorama. I like some of the other Diorama’s as well, but the size isn’t functional enough for me to justify the price.

It’s intresting — over on the Dior forum, I’ve noticed there are not a lot of threads dedicated to specific bag styles, like there are in the Hermes and Chanel forums. I wonder if this is because of the constant turnover of styles you both were complaining about. It’s harder to research specific styles and histories (not to mention pricing) there than on some other threads.

[emoji23] I only liked the JK collection as a scarf. They tie really well!

The bags though are ridiculous!

I like the idea of Dior, and if I ever went through purchasing one (by getting over the LD opening) I’d get one used.

Exacly my thought about the JK LV line. It looks like cheap museum memorabilia bags. :-s LV can “go there” with a lot of their items with separate patterns like this line and with their bags with faux stickers and aggressive overprints over their mono. Some is ok. Most crosses the line into kitschy. Some IMO into tacky. But, hey if it sells, it’s good business, right? I’ll just stay far away.

I luuuuuuurve the Lady Dior. It’s weird that it’s not in my collection. I have been waiting for the perfect one for me and haven’t found it just yet. Twice, I almost pulled the trigger on a pink snake version. One had rhinestone Dior charms. Almost too Sparkletastic-y for me. (though a big part of me still wants it!) But, I didn’t because I was worried about the scales lifting and having enough places to wear fuchsia snake + sparkle. LOL!

I could see myself owning 2-3 LDs down the road. The main reason I’ve hesitated on the LD is because the size I want (medium) has an opening that is difficult to get your hand into. The opening is tight so the zipper is scratchy. That makes it almost better to buy preloved so the bag has softened and the opening is easier to get into. That factor plus plummeting resale values (vs. say Hermes, LV or Chanel) make the LD a preloved purchase for me unlike my silve Diorama which I was ONLY willing to buy new in store because of its more delicate nature. I need full back end support should something go wrong. I don’t expect it though. I’ve worn that bag all over the place and with everything from jeans to a cocktail dress it’s still pristine. I just LOVE Dior quality.

I’m sure the right LD will come along. I need a black bag with ghw. This may be the right answer since I can’t find the black / ghw Miss Dior unicorn I want. I wouldn’t feel like I was settling, it would feel like an upgrade. In fact, as I type, I’m wondering why I haven’t bought an LD in black / ghw. That would be a perfect add for my collection - I’d get the color combo I want and finally add a much wanted LD. I had been circling on a Chanel camera bag but it didn’t feel right. A M/L would be great if it wasn’t the double flap that I despise. So the LD works well for this need. Thanks for jogging my thoughts!

Oh and yes. The Dior thread is more quiet than other threads for specific information and for conversation in general. Not sure why.

However, if you have a question you can start a thread and the lovelies there will answer. I’ve done that a couple of times. In particular, @averagejoe is an authenticator and mod over there who seems to never sleep because he is always ready with a wealth of info and support if you need it. Here’s hoping you fall deeply into the heaven that is Dior bags. :graucho:

Funny. I love the JK sculptures within buildings here!!! The first time I saw it on an LV I was surprised. It's like an identity crisis!!! IF they were a museum shopper tote, I'm sure I'd have it!!! I think they're hilarious.
About the Diors, I'd love a Miss Dior.(Once the danglers go back down in size!)

That is so incredibly rude. Makes me glad I’m not on Instagram.

I mostly hate whatever algorithm they use that makes Instagram think I want to continue seeing those people.

I clicked curiously on one person who explained how to up eBay sales during my heavy selling period, and she had great tips.

But then it ends up showing you all popular resellers, and the petty ones somehow always show up more on my explore page.

[emoji23] I keep clicking on dogs and pretty bags hoping it’ll fix the algorithm in my favor.

I can’t hate on Instagram too much, I’ve followed many who help with my luggage tag and charm addiction.

i am ready for my June stats, which is not exciting in terms of shopping my closet, but darn exciting in terms of scoring rare, special and LE pieces!!
Balenciaga is turning 100 years in 2018, and they've made a LE tote and a few SLGs to celebrate it, tote was made in 2 sizes, very small A6 which i checked and tried and could not make myself to settle on it, and a slightly bigger one B4, which i only saw once online, and it was kinda unicorn, which i got lucky to track down!
God bless the Saks and overseas shipping!!
The SLG was found locally
So, my 2 'in'-s for June are these :yahoo:
Happy Birthday, BALENCIAGA!! :drinks:

Oh @Sparkletastic ! I hope you find something comfortable and stylish to wear all week long, and yes - bring some favorite bags to cheer yourself up! I hope the trip is fun and the surgery easy and successful. Sounds like you are keeping grumpiness in check with heavy doses of good humor! I admire that. Safe travels!

@spark I'm so sorry all these things have happened in just a couple months!!! Man. What bad luck. I hope you have years and years of not so much as a sniffle after this, as fate owes you that, at this point!!

Thanks, everyone for the well wishes! I love my pocket friends. You’re all so sweet and kind. TPF is a happy, relaxing diversion when “real” life gets icky. I’m hoping all will be done within the next 6-8 weeks including recovery time. Trust me, I’ll never take good health for granted ever again.

@momasaurus - I’ve learned over years that dealing with things with humor is the best way. It’s not like the “things” will go away any faster if I’m mean, evil and riding around on my broom. :broom: LOL! But, seriously, being a very type A person, I’ve had to learn to relax and smile vs. stress out and fret. Things are much better this way. Thank for the affirmation. :flowers:

@dcooney4 - I hope your ribs are better soon. I’ve heard that’s a tough fix/recovery because you can’t easily splint or wrap them. Please take it easy.

@catsinthebag - Re: the pink LD: maybe I should spoil myself with something pretty and impractical just because. LOL! But, I don’t think python will be it. I gotta admit, the scale lifting potential reeeaaally worries me. I see a pink python LD on Fashionphile that looks pretty yucky. Lots of lifted scales. I’d like python and suede in my collection but it’s too much of a worry for now. Maybe later when I’m a big girl. LOL!

On the pretty and semi practical side, I poked around and looked at a few black Lady Diors w/ghw online. I was underwhelmed for the price. Preloved at $3k. I think not! Ha! For perhaps $500 more, I can get two new bags or one Chanel single flap that I’d adore even more. So, nah for now. Plus I think I like the LD better w/shw and in pretty colors. I need to try one on to see how I feel. I may change my mind completely in person.

But OMG! I am so tempted to get a bag just because I’m grumpy. That’s dangerous. I’m blind as a bat in one eye and not thinking clearly. That is a recipe for a bad decision. I’ll be sure to check in here before I buy anything for a sanity check. :cray:
